Tanzania with Lucas
Lucas was recommended to us by a friend and we were so glad we took the recommendation. We had worked out an itinerary with a large tour company that specializes on Africa. When we showed the itinerary to Lucas, he suggested certain changes because of his vast knowledge of the lodges and quoted us a price that was significantly lower and included activities that were not a part of the other tour.
In short, it was the trip of a lifetime! Through email, we communicated often before the trip so he could get a feel for what we liked to do and see, and he worked out a trip that was the perfect combination of wildlife and cultural tourism. He was a pleasure to travel with, very open and giving of his own personal story which provided insights into African culture, and the lodges, and mobile tents we stayed in were wonderful. The vehicles he uses were perfect, with roofs that provided shade but also had ample openings for standing and viewing the wildlife. Because it was just us (2 couples and Lucas), we were not on a rigid schedule so we could spend as much time as we wanted in any particular spot. This differs from being part of a multivehicle tour that has a scheduled lunch stop and a strict mileage limit that might limit your sightings, etc. Lucas's tour is truly customized, and so represents the best of itinerary and fair cost.
We have since recommended him to 3 other parties (a party of 2 couples, a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, and a honeymoon couple) who went with him and had nothing but great things to say. One of the parties had particular needs in terms of travel and diet and Lucas made the necessary accommodations to their great satisfaction.
I can't speak highly enough of Lucas and his safaris. You won't regret traveling with him.

As a Oma with two 15 year old granddaughters Lucas could not have planned our 10 days better.Bravo!
I had travelled with Lucas 3 years ago in a larger group and when he accepted our request to have him guide us 3 he planned a perfect trip to suit grandma(Bibi from now on)and 2 15 year old cousins. A miracle as all of us had a lot of fun and we appreciated his knowledge and the perfect various accommodations and itineraries for each day. Watching a migration from start to finish and all in between was an experience none of us wanted to miss and we did see it on our last day!! Tanzania and the Serengetti were a perfect way to see all of the wishlist to see except the Rhino who was hiding from the poachers that are driving the Rhino into extinction for their horns. Thanks,Lucas, for all your planning and knowledge that you passed on to us.

The guides were amazing
We just back from a 11 day week long study abroad experience in Africa with the guides Emmanuel and Moses. I was one of the leaders of the group and this was our first experience with this company booked trough Holbrook travel. This was our fourth time taking students to Tanzania and Africa with college classes and we were not sure what to expect . Moses and Emmanuel exceeded our expectations instantly! They took great care to make sure that all of students were taken care of , helped us to educate them concerning all aspects of ecology of the animals and plants of their country and most important provided an African experience that has clearly changed all,of their lives. Halfway through the trip we met up with the owner of the company Lucas who was clearly a very well known man who was respected and has had a great impact in the surrounding communities.. I would recommend this company above all, other companies for all, colleges and universities that decide to do a field biology or ecology trip like ours.
