The best time with Godfrey & African Traits
5/5

We are a group of 5 friends travelling from Australia. Three of us were staying in Arusha for two months before our holiday, so we had a lot of time to shop around for Safari companies - Godfrey from African Traits was the absolute standout company. We were so confident in him that we booked our trip to Kilimanjaro; a 4-day safari to the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater; and then a 3 day hike through the Usambara Mountains. We had high expectations and were not disappointed! Godfrey pays very close attention to detail and everything ran perfectly. We took the Lemosho route to the summit of Kilimanjaro and had the best time. Godfrey met us in Arusha and drove us to Moshi where we stayed in a very comfortable We were lucky to have one of the best guides on the mountain, John (who is also called 'teacher' by so many guides you meet along the way because he has taught a lot of guides himself!) - he had a lovely personality & was very encouraging. He has a secret method that gets you to the summit! His assistant guides were fantastic & the porters were amazing. Godfrey met us after the hike and asked us for feedback and we had absolutely no changes to suggest - it was perfect.

We spent two nights in Moshi which was very relaxing. Godfrey then arranged our transport to Arusha, where we met him and he introduced us to Benny - our safari guide. We headed off on our next adventure to the Serengeti and Ngorogoro crater. Godfrey's team for Safari - Benny & Habibu (the cook) - were great again! The car & camping equipment were great. The food was delicious. Benny was so knowledgeable about both parks, all of the plants and animals - we couldn't find a question he didn't know the answer to. The parks were both incredibly beautiful. We spent one night in Arusha and then we headed to the Usambara mountains. The mountains are often overlooked by many tourists visiting Tanzania but to their loss - the experience was simply fantastic. We spent three days walking through small traditional Tanzanian villages with our local guide KiKi. Kiki could tell you everything you needed to know about village life in Usambara and also about all of the wildlife around you. The views were spectacular and the hospitality was outstanding. We stayed one night at Bushbay - a small, family run guesthouse in Mgwashi village. We loved it there - the staff were very very hospitable & the local food we had for dinner & breakfast was delicious. We visited a local women's pottery cooperative to buy some special souvenirs. We stayed our second night at an Eco Lodge overlooking the plains below the mountains - it was spectacular! African Traits were very responsive to our needs - we requested to visit the Irente Biodiversity Farm for breakfast and they incorporated it well into our itinerary. Overall the Usambara was an unexpected highlight & definitely worth the visit.

I would highly recommend African Traits for your travel in Tanzania. With Godfrey, you are guaranteed an authentic, professional, relaxing, and amazing experience.

Godfrey takes pride in the work he does and ensures he caters to our needs. Lots of fun; games at night and lots of information about the places we visit during the day. Would highly recommend African Traits as a personable, reliable and honest company who cares about you.

Getting all those little details right!
5/5

Such a great trip! It was obvious that the team really care about what they do and are determined to get everything right for you. Lovely attention to all those little details that add up to make the whole thing a great experience....and we laughed so much!! A beautiful, beautiful place , coffee plantation, waterfalls and great company. We had actually gone with them the year before as well on the Ngorongoro safari tour which was such an excellent holiday. I would really recommend Godfrey and his team at African Traits.

Kiliminjaro Hakuna Matata
5/5

Godfrey organized one of the best experiences I've have had in arranging our climb up Kili. Myself and one friend climbed the Machame route with 7 days. The whole team was fantastic with some especially memorable guides Teacher John and Hallelujah. The service was great and the attitude was joyful. It didn't hurt that the weather was also perfect and we had a full moon with a lunar eclipse on summit day! All of the other logistics were rather seamless, including airport pick-up and lodging on either side of the climb, and I would definitely use this company again.

Godfrey Willy!
5/5

First, I have to admit that I have not actually done a safari with African Traits, BUT I have been on several trips and worked with Godfrey Willy. I have done day trips with Godfrey and one of his guides--excellent! I would not hesitate to book a trip with African Traits because I know that Godfrey will make sure that all is well. Godfrey spent 2 weeks guiding and supporting the Sunflower Kids nonprofit when we were making a fundraising film. He was outstanding at helping the director get really great shots, translating, and helping gain access into places where we would have never gone without him. The film would not have been as great as it is without him. So, all that is to say--I would trust Godfrey and book with African Traits!

Outstanding in every way!
5/5

What a perfectly brilliant holiday thanks to Godfrey and his team! They love their beautiful country and want to show it off to it's very best to everyone who visits. There is so much to do! We went to a little coffee plantation where we roasted our own coffee beans. The waterfalls were beautiful and another amazing day out .We watched the people set off from the base camp of Kilimanjaro (We didn't go up but are daughter did and she was extremely impressed with the organisation and great team spirit of Godfrey's team) The Serengeti and Ngongoro safari tour can only be "experienced" as words are insufficient to capture the beauty of the African landscape and animals! I got the most amazing photographs, as our tour guide was always very happy to stop and get us the best position for as long as it took. He also arranged for us to visit a Maasai village.
Our hotels were luxurious in every way. My husband and I felt like we had an incredible holiday at a very competitive price. . Godfrey’s personal attention to detail in arrangements, communication, timing, transportation and continually ensuring we had an excellent holiday exceeded all of our expectations and we would highly recommend Godfrey and his team at African Traits to everyone!

Another unforgettable experience!
5/5

This was my second safari with Godfrey. I loved it yet again! I have nothing bad to say about any of it. It was well organized, fun, and unforgettable. I enjoyed the safari guide, accommodations, food, company, and all the extra little details I was not expecting. This trip was well worth the money. I would encourage everyone to go with African Traits for all of their adventures. I have also gone on the Moshi tour with Godfrey and loved it as well. Thank you for everything!

The most effective experience in my life.
5/5

Well Before I came to Tanzania I thought It was good landscapes full of poor people and thieves, Once I came and specially in Arusha and Zanzibar in a sudden I found people more than friendly with respect that made me shame of my first thoughts and I had a good brain that respect and hosbitality, specially drivers and very respectful and generous, in the other hand I had a lot of fun enjoying the nature in ngorongoro craters and Zanzibar, hotspring was not that good but it's not bad I think you have to camp not just a visit to got the best of it, Thanks for you Tanzanian people for the generous and respect and teaching me to be like that.

A professional company with well trained staff to support you in an unforgettable trek (Mount Meru)
5/5

Godfrey, the tour operator, was friendly and professional, answering any questions about cost, gear and expectations in a timely manner. The company arranged for drop off and pick up. The trek was tougher than expected as I experienced minor altitude sickness. Our guide, Teacha John, identified it and took great care of me, making sure I safely made it to the summit. He also led our group safely past a cape buffalo while the ranger distracted it. The food was delicious, prepared by our enthusiastic waiter and cook, Hallelujah. Many laughs had along the way. I highly recommend African Traits for any treks, safaris or beach vacations.

Machame route to Kilimanjaro and Safari
5/5

A friend of ours recommended African Traits / Youth Adventures to us. We got in touch with Godfrey Willy and booked a 6-day Machame tour to Kilimanjaro as well as a 4-day safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. Prices, as well as the communication beforehand, were both very good.
Someone from the company picked us up from the airport and brought us to a hotel that they organized as well. We were able to rent surprisingly good gear from a shop the day before that climb started and had a briefing on what else to bring and how to pack. The climb itself was really well organized, our guides were great, and so were the porters and the cook. Tents, food, and all other services worked out perfectly, we had a truly amazing time. Just one thing: be sure to know how much you want to tip before the guides approach you on the last night, else you might pay more than expected.
After the climb, we were brought to our hotel where we left our stuff and had a day to relax before we started the safari the day after. Alike the Kili tour, the safari was also well organized. We were put together with 4 other travelers in a Land Rover Defender and started our 4-day trip. Again, organization by the tour operator was great, our gear and car were good and our staff (guide and cook) were nice. We also saw a great number of animals, basically everything apart from rhinos. Specifically, Tarangire park was a huge positive surprise.
After the trip, Godfrey organized a hotel for our last night and then brought us to the airport on departure day.
All in all, I highly recommend Godfrey and his team!
