Amazing Safari experience in Kenya and Tanzania
My wife and I did a 10-day safari across Kenya and Tanzania. We had the TIME of OUR lives; seeing the Big5 up close, learning about the Maasai culture, eating delicious food and experiencing exceptional hospitality from every place that we stayed!!
We worked with Hugo to plan our trip and logistics; he was super responsive to our questions, gave us advice on visas and how best to prep ahead! He also helped us during the trip, when one one of our flights was moved 12 hours earlier by the airline, and made the relevant arrangements to accommodate this last minute change! One thing to note that is that the planning team (e.g. Hugo) is based in Portugal, so there is a slight timezone difference, but in summary, everything was seamless!
We want to give a HUGE shout out to our guides/drivers, James (Kenya) and Hasani (Tanzania), who were knowledgeable, friendly and ensured that we enjoyed our time throughout the trip! We learnt so much about the behaviours of the animals, how to spot them, and their distinctive features! They also had a relaxing approach - you can plan your day based on your preference; whether you wanted to do a whole day drive, or half day drive and then chill for the rest of the day!
We really enjoyed all of the camps that we stayed in, but the ones that really stood out for us were:
(1) The Cliff (amazing view of the lake and you can see the sun rise from your room, and the food was also incredible!)
(2) Four Seasons Serengeti (great amenities e.g spa & swimming pool, cool museum, and very comfortable stay) and;
(3) The Highlands, Tanzania (really cool room; it’s like staying in a crystal ball with amazing views of the mountains with a fireplace in your room. The staff are so lovely and like one big family!)
In summary, we would highly recommend to book with this company (Spirit of Kenya and Soul of Tanzania) - THANK YOU for making this trip a special and memorable one!!

A dream come true
Our journey began in 2019, when we started shopping around for tour planners in Africa, as most of us do we read reviews to find the best operator according to travelers opinions. Soul of Tanzania was rated the best, so we sent an email to inquire further. From that moment on, it was a daily communication back n forth with proposals, questions and ideas, back then our tour planner was Helena, she was so professional and met all our requirements instantly, unfortunately due to covid she departed the agency and we were transferred to Luis, another very professional planner who continued where Helena left off as if he was in contact with us from the beginning. We had to postpone our 2020 experience due to covid, initially to 2021, but then to 2022. All was set to depart Malta on August 8th, a minor hick up evolved, August 5th, my partner got sick and was tested positive for covid, just our luck...when contacting Luis he did not hesitate, and told us not to worry, just to give him another date and he will try to make all the arrangements necessary. A week later, my partner was tested negative, so we asked if we could opt to start the safari 21st August, within 2 days Luis made all arrangements, now we had planned Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar, all was settled including the internal flight to Zanzibar, that was an amazing task Luis managed, so 21st August we began our experience. Kudos to Luis :)
The safari was amazing, guides were great both in Kenya (Joseph) quite, not much of a talker man but knows the Mara and animals like the back of his hand, he did all he could to get us close as possible to the animals not bothering them or putting us in any danger. In Tanzania our guide was Gabriel, such a nice humble person, he was a talker :) An encyclopedia of information on legs, my gosh how many things he knew and talked about, again another guide that knew Serengeti all to well, and also a great animal spotter...one time he spotted an owl in a tree from 50m away, and it took us a while to see it and he literally gave us co ordinates! The images we brought back and the great memories will last a life time, thanks to Soul of Tanzania and their team of experts. If you are going on a safari, just look up this agency...you will not be disappointed :) Thank you Soul of Tanzania :)

Best experience ever with the best safari guide!!
I don’t know where to start, but maybe through the end, when we have to say goodbye to CLEOPA , our guide, and when I saw both of my children (4 & 7 years old) crying like babies because they don’t want to leave him and catch the flight to Zanzibar… those emotions says everything about the guide and about our experience.
Now let’s review the safari, we went for 5 Nights to Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro, and since the moment we land in Arusha we knew we are in good hands. CLEOPA is the man, very friendly, very polite always smiling and saying “Hakuna Matata” in all your requests. Everything was possible for him!
He has an eagle eye in what finding animals concerns (and it doesn’t need the binoculars :)) ). With him, we took the all breakfasts, lunch picnics and dinner together, because we invited him to share those moments with us.
We saw more than 50 lions (male/female) , cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, gnus, rhinos, hippos, etc etc. We saw all the big 5, and it’s a plus that all guides/drivers communicate through their radios so you don’t miss any moment or animals.
We are very grateful and we will come back to Tanzania again, and of course with CLEOPA. (Our family is already preparing the trip with him :) ) Thanks Cleopa and thanks for sharing with us these 5 days and for open your life to us! Rodrigo, Matilde, Catarina, and myself miss you a lot and our kids keep asking if we will stay with you again…. :)
See you soon “my friend”!! Hakuna Matata!!
Asante sana

Incredibly amazing!
We were a group of 4 people. We did 3 days of Safari. We started our Safari in Serengeti, continue to Ngorongoro and ended at Ngorongoro Crater. Our itinerary was planned according to our wishes. Marta was very helpful throughout the planning. Our guide Rodrick made us from the beginning feel very comfortable. We were able to see loads of animals thanks to Rodrick's focused and attentive eye. Rodrick proved to be, over the 3 days we spent with him, a very calm, peaceful, responsible, fun and respectful person. He also showed a lot of patience and humour. He was always willing to answer all of our animal and other related questions. It was really interesting to hear everything Rodrick had to tell about the animals, the country's culture and much more. We had so much fun with Rodrick! It was fantastic! We miss you! Clearly the best Safaris guide! ;)
Thank you Soul of Tanzania for this amazing experience!
The experience of our lives with the best guide who has become a friend.
We did a 3 day Safari with a one day stop in Arusha. Our guide Rodrick made us very comfortable straight away. We started with the breathtaking scenery of the Ngorongoro and were immediately greeted by lots of giraffes. Rodrick knew that we all wanted to see a lion and his eyes are like the eyes of an eagle and he is very attentive and did everything possible for us to see a lion. We saw more than one on the first day and it was amazing! We spent the first night in the Serengeti in a Camp amongst the animals and it was one of the best experiences of our lives! We spent another night at Ngorongoro Crater and were surprised by elephants right in front of the room. An unforgettable moment to see them so close. We got to see the big 5 and it was absolutely amazing very much to the credit of our guide Rodrick. He is super professional, punctual, very attentive and we were very lucky to have him with us, it was super fun! A person who became our friend and the goodbye was very hard. <3
Not forgetting Marta, our journey designer. A super kind person, she did everything to meet our wishes, was very patient and always available to help and clarify the many doubts we had.
Thank you Marta, Rodrick and Soul of Tanzamia from the bottom of our hearts for all your commitment and for making this experience unforgettable.

An Experience of a Lifetime!
My partner and I did a custom 3 day safari to Serengeti and Ngorngoro Crater, with a couple nights in Arusha before the trip. We had an amazing time on our safari, and Omari was such a great guide. Not only did we get to see all the animals we wanted, but saw them multiple times! The staff at all of the accommodations were above and beyond, and we enjoyed our adventure so much. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!
Omari was so accommodating, professional and knowledgable. We had lots of fun with him and felt completely relaxed.
We had a lucky encounter at one of the places we stayed, Lion's Paw, while returning from dinner - a female elephant was enjoying her own dinner right next to our tent! The gentlemen who had escorted us from dinner helped us to stay safe and move the elephant along, but it was incredible to see her up close.
Thanks so much to Sandy for all her help with setting everything up so perfectly and making our trip exactly what we wanted!

Very accommodating due COvid delay.
There were 8 of us touring and we rotated our time between Wilson’s and Hussain’s vehicles. Both were so incredibly knowledgeable of their country and the animals and birds. No question could they not answer.
They were both very professional and a delight to be with. They became part of our group!
Thank you for an amazing Safari

Very organized and responsive
Our Safari exceeded our expectations. We have been on many safaris in Southern Africa and anticipated a much larger scale experience. And Tanzania did not disappoint. Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Eyasi, Ngorongoro crater (the most plentiful sightings), south and central Serengeti were all unbelievable. We were fortunate enough to witness the southern migration and experience a hot air balloon ride too.
This incredible Safari of a life time, was made all the better by our 2 amazing guides, Wilson and Hassani. Cannot say enough about these two gentleman - extremely knowledgeable, very reliable, kind & helpful, they looked after us impeccably. We did not want for anything. Seek them out if you are considering a Safari with Soul of Tanzania!!
Besides the incredible wildlife (highlight being the 9 cheetahs we saw that we have never seen on any of our numerous safaris), the people of Tanzania are wonderful.
Possibly only downside was that we tried to cram too much into 8 days. Maybe a couple of days at each camp, rather than moving on every day would be preferable.
Very very highly recommended. We will go back!

Awe Inspiring Safari
My heartfelt thanks to the Soul of Tanzania team for helping me plan and execute an extraordinary African Safari. From our pickup at Arusha airport to our drop-off at Zanzibar airport 10 days later, we were well taken care of.
Sandy was our journey planner and provided all the information we needed to choose an itinerary and accommodations that matched our dream safari. She always answered my questions within hours and helped guide us in away that would enhance our experience.
James was our driver/guide/concierge and maître d'. He expertly took us to the places where we saw the most animals. The “roads” in the parks are very rough and provide customers with what is know as the Tanzanian massage. James was able to minimize the magnitude of the bumps and ruts and still get us to our destinations on time. His driving skills are unsurpassed.
James kept us constantly updated on where we were and where we were going and where the animals were. He networked over the radio with other drivers to identify points of interest. He has a sharp eye for the wildlife hiding in the bush which enabled us to see animals we surely would have missed otherwise.
When it was time for lunch James found rest areas that had tables and he set an amazing table complete with tablecloth, stainless steel dinnerware, wine glasses, and yes, our choice of red or white wine. May people stopped to look at our table. The food was prepared by the previous nights accommodation and was generally hot and tasty. The first day out we had spaghetti bolognese, veggies and cake for dessert. Pretty nice safari fare!
After six days in the bush we had to bid farewell to James at the Seronera airstrip for our trip to Zanzibar. We had pictured the airport as a small dirt strip with a couple of small planes. The dirt strip was correct but there were hundreds of people trying to catch scores of flights. Once again James came to the rescue and helped us negotiate the chaos. We finally boarded our Dash-8 turbo prop airplane along with fifty other passengers and were soon on our way to Zanzibar. Even with the chaos I highly recommend flying out of the Serengeti as opposed to driving out. The drive back to Arusha is two hundred+ miles and takes all day.
We chose to stay at a resort on Zanzibar to rest and relax after the intense experience of the safari. If I had it to do over I would stay at a resort for a few days before the Safari. You can get over the effects of jet-lag and get anything you might have forgotten.
On Zanzibar we chose an unbranded resort on the eastern shore of the island. We had decided that we were done site-seeing and just wanted to relax. When we arrived we had no local currency and were hungry. Our guide stopped on the way to our hotel and got us some street food (grilled chicken) and found an ATM so I could get some cash. The drive from the airport to our resort took over an hour and on the way my wife mentioned that she would like to see a spice farm. Our guide said that could be arranged and suggested a stop at the Zanzibar iconic restaurant, The Rock, for lunch. A nice day out but over half of the day was driving to and from the activities.
Thanks again to the Soul of Tanzania team for a very successful safari. And a special thanks to James for taking such good care of us.
