Our safari was everything we imagined and more
We reviewed dozens of safari tour operators, and all offer variations on the same multi-day itineraries. We settled on African Savannah Trekkers for a couple of reasons. They offer a four-park, six-day safari at a price comparable to the cost for a three-park, four- or five-day tour advertised by other companies. They are a small outfit based in Arusha; we didn’t want to deal with a big UK or US based company. And they were willing to organize the balloon safari for us and fit it within the itinerary. Once we confirmed our booking, they arranged it so that we could pay by credit card because we were travelling and did not have access to others means of payment. Maureen, who handles logistics and Elisante, our driver/guide, came over to see us at our Airbnb home in Arusha the day before our safari started and that was much appreciated.
Our safari was everything we imagined and more. Elisante got us deep into all the parks (Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, and Lake Manyara) finding us lots of families of elephants, herds of zebra, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, and gazelles, numerous hyena, jackals, leopards, cheetahs, lions, and many weird and wonderful birds. He was happy to let us watch animals for as long as we wanted — we noticed other safari tours paused only long enough for a photo or two and then took off.
Elisante was also very good at getting us a great view of animals, especially the big cats, even when other safari trucks were already on the scene. We expressed interest in seeing the flamingos in Lake Manyara National Park, and even though the lake was quite dry, he knew to go all the way to the viewing platform near the hot springs and sure enough, thousands and thousands of flamingos! Afterwards at our hostel in Arusha when we talked to others also returning from safaris, their drivers did not take the time to do this, a pity since this is the iconic attraction Lake Manyara has to offer as the rainy season approaches.
Lastly, we appreciated that one of the lodges Maureen booked us into is a social enterprise. Hhando Coffee Lodge is owned by the local Catholic diocese and hires local people in all capacities and purchases fruit, vegetables, milk and meat fresh from the village. The lodge also maintains a small coffee plantation and roasts it’s own coffee — and offers the best cup of coffee we’ve had in months on the road!
We felt in good hands with Maureen and Elisante, and highly recommend African Savannah Trekkers!

Comfortable and very diverse tour with countless of unforgettable wild life encounters
With so many National Parks, and with so many tour operators to choose among, how do you make the right decision? Well, we sure feel like, we hit a home run. With African Savannah Trekkers we got all we had hoped for.
We took a 4-day tour in the Northern Circuit and it was breathtaking from the beginning to the end. We started in Tarangire and quickly got the impression that our guide had eyes like a falcon. He spotted so many animals that we never would have spotted ourselves. One time, we looked at some elephants, and while caught in awe and desperately looking for the perfect camera angle, he casually said "have you also seen the Lion"? And just in front of us, hidden in the tall grass, was a Male Lion taking a nap. This was our first encounter with the big cat, and there were many more to come.
We had all the time in the world, and we never felt rushed. We went to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Maynara, and it was very interesting to see the animals in very different settings. The company was very flexible, and helped arrange a surprise Hot Air Balloon tour for my girlfriend in Serengeti. I can only recommend booking your tour with African Savannah Trekkers, they were so nice and the tour was awesome.

Unforgettable Safari experience!! Highly recommend!
What a wonderful Safari! Everything was well organized by very knowledgeable and friendly staff from the beginning to the end. The atmosphere that they created provided a nice feeling throughout the whole trip. Everything was done exactly as we wanted and all our wishes were taken into account in a personalized way. The game drives were amazing and the driver/guide could always find the best places for viewing the majestic animals. We saw four parks - Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Tarangire and enjoyed every one of them. We would travel with African Savannah Trekkers again anytime and hope to do that one day! Travelling with them will provide the best that Tanzania has to offer!

Amazing safari and best experience in Tanzania!
The whole safari was perfectly organized and a great experience. Eli organized everything exactly how we wanted it! She was really listening to our preferences beforehand and during the trip and it came out as a perfect safari.
First of all she organized us the trasfer from the airport, even if our safari started two days later she tried everything to make it comfortable for us even before.
On the day we had started our safari Eli picked us up together with our driver Mike and they made sure that everything is fine for us and we can start the adventure. The Game Drive was amazing. We saw a lot of animals and different kinds of landscapes. Mike, our driver was really listening to us and was able to find all the good places to see the animals. He told us a lot of interesting facts about the animals, landscapes, people and Tanzania in general. One great experience was sitting in our Jeep with no one around except a huge herd of elephants.
The nights we spent in the wonderful Acacia Farm Lodge. We felt welcome there from the first second and the location and the staff were just amazing. Eli really found the perfect place! We always thought a safari is kind of stressfull, but with a privat Jeep and such a beautiful lodge it is a very relaxing experience.
After the safari Eli organized spontaneously upon our request that our driver could stay with us during our whole trip. He drove us to our other hotels and sights we wanted to see and finally got us safely back to the airport.
Overall it was a perfect safari. During our time in Tanzania we were constantly in contact with Eli and she made sure that every second of our trip is great! Both, Eli and Mike really took their time to care for their clients. We could have stayed much longer!
Thank you Eli and Mike for making our trip to Tanzania such a great experience.

Wonderful Experience!
I can't say enough about how great our experience was with African Savannah Trekkers! We had less than a week to visit Tanzania and they -- on very short notice -- arranged for us a perfect 3 day safari. We visited Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park and saw lots of animals -- lions and hippos, giraffes and elephants and so many more. The accommodations they arranged were beautiful and had breathtaking views. Our guide/driver was fun to be with and very informed about the plants and animals and geology, and quickly developed a sense of what we personally would enjoy seeing. He was also very knowledgeable about people. Tanzania is a very ethnically and culturally diverse country, and our guide was eager to help us understand the peoples and customs we were seeing, which was a really enriching experience. He even arranged a side-trip for us on the second day to visit a couple of different villages and an "out in the bush" regional monthly market (not a tourist market, a market for regular people).
We highly recommend African Savannah Trekkers!

Excellent safari, we will never forget!
We had a smooth drive with a good maintained car. No problems at all. Elisante, our driver, showed us many national parks in a 6 days safari: Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Tarangire. He was always in time, we never had to wait.
We could tell him any wish about the tour, he tried to fullfil it, if possible.
He knows nearly everything about nature, animals and tribes, we learned a lot.

East African Safari
Elisante is friendly and professional. I highly recommend using African Savannah Trekkers if you are planning a trip to East Africa. Tanzania has so much to offer, it's the best of both worlds with the adventure of a land safari and then relaxing with a cocktail near the crystal blue waters of Zanzibar. You will have memories that will last forever.

Unbelievable Trip!
Broad strokes? Every pickup was on time and visable, every driver was courteous and professional, the vehicles were clean and taken the best of care, communication and on the ground planning was seamless, potential language barriers were a non-issue, being able to charge batteries in the vehicles was key. All the fundamental bases were covered exceptionally. Where do I start with Elesanti (our safari guide from Arusha to Serengeti)? In the simplest and best possible terms, the guy is a stud. In the beginning and understandably so, Elesanti was stoic, a true professional, all business. I could tell he was feeling us out. It was endearing and I appreciated his carefulness to make sure we were completely taken care of. As the trip progressed I realized the true level of experience and professionalism Elesanti possesses. A true patriot of Tanzania, one helluva driver, a master in animal movement anticipation, the patience of a saint, hater of large breakfasts (LOL), lover of large dinners with lots of water (LOL!), and a walking encyclopedia of knowledge of animal life in East Africa. I can confidently say that we started our safari as strangers but we concluded our safari as dear friends. We miss you Elesani!!!

Amazing Safari - life long memories!
Our guide Eli, was amazing, kind and very patient. We´'re big phography fans (though amateurs), so he's patience for waiting 20' in the very same spot until we got the picture we wanted was a huge plus for us in our safari. The parks (Serengueti, Ngorogoro, and Tarangire) we visited and the lodges (Coffee Lodge, Tree Tops, the Manor and Pioneer Camp) we stayed at were astonishing and beyond our expectations.
It was no doubt the trip of a lifetime!
