A very professional and reliable tour company that went above and beyond to make our trip memorable!
5/5

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Pamoja Tours for making our nine-day trip so memorable. We had a wonderful time with you guys and would love to come back one day!

First off, I have to say that the travel consultant Regina was very pleasant in our initial contact. She answered all my questions with a quick responding time, provided different options and rates, and advised on various aspects such as weather, categories and best time to visit until the itinerary was perfect. The owner Mr. Sperito Mukiibi picked us up at the airport personally and was very laid back and friendly, which immediately put us at ease after our long flight. Upon our request, he also took us to have a delicious Rolex (must try!) on our first day. We felt like both of them went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time during our tour. Also, they went the extra mile by making our Valentine’s Day in Uganda unique.

Our guide City Tyson is a very positive and knowledgeable person, and through him we learned so much about the animals and the environment. He was always able to answer any questions we had about the wildlife or history of the area we were visiting and is truly a walking encyclopedia. A Bwindi native himself, he also made sure we got into the best group for gorilla tracking :) He also took us to try various fruits and dishes during our drives and organized two spontaneous “picnics” with marvelous views and delicious snacks.

We had a very smooth trip despite the road condition and long distance. The lodges we stayed at were each unique in their own way, and had great views and amenities. The food in the lodges was amazing, particularly the local one. The lodge we enjoyed most and recommend was Mahagony Springs in Bwindi, not to be missed if you go for gorilla tracking!

At the end of our tour, the team of Pamoja Tours met us again personally and asked us for our feedback on our tour and made sure we were happy with how it went. We will definitely recommend Pamoja to everyone who visits East Africa and would go for them again when we have the chance.

Amazing safari trip
5/5

Our group travelled from Kampala to Murchison Falls and the drive to there was very comfortable. In the safari we got to see all the animals that you could see while visiting there. The accommodations were very nice and the food there was amazing. The 3 day trip was just perfect.

Pamoja Tours, led by Charles Oyer is a company that is diverse and comprehensive with their itineraries, culturally conscious, flexible and efficient. They did exactly what they said they would do from reservations to the National Parks, cruises, accommodations and planning.
Our diversified life affirming experience was created with input from my travel companion, myself and our extraordinarily knowledgeable guide Charles. He did everything in a timely fashion so that we had reservations for the Gorilla Habituation, Chimpanzee trekking, Golden Monkey tracking, cruises, rhino sanctuary and visits to Diann Fosseys’ museum, walk almost to her gravesite and , Genocide Museum. He arranged for us to visit his home village Mubaku, meet the people, see how they live and visit the schools. It was enriching and beyond measure to be with the big 5, LIons, Buffalo, elephants, rhinos and leopards in their natural habitat during two Safaris. It was humbling to meet and talk to the people in Mubaku to learn about the efforts being made to improve their situation. Our accommodations were comfortable. We moved every two days which was very doable. We were able to cover a lot of ground with experiences along the way so the drives were just fine.
Overall we absolutely thoroughly and completely loved this entire trip.

The review below is the personal opinion of Maas and not that of SafariBookings.
A deal is not a deal!

Early this year, we started orientating for a trip to Kenya with our family. 2 tour operators jumped out and both offered a similar trip for a similar price. We chose Pamoja because they offered the beach hotel which was our preference. Whereupon we signed the offer and paid the trip deposit.

6 weeks before departure, we got word from Pamoja that 2 hotels (including the beach hotel) had become more expensive. Whether we wanted to pay an extra USD 11,400. This made our trip no less than 50% more expensive than agreed with us in the quotation and confirmation. We were very shocked by this and it caused the necessary unrest and emotions within our family. Because of this, it was not clear whether we could still go on the trip at all because of these extra costs. After a week of almost daily contact with Pamoja, they could not do more for us than deduct USD 3200. Still a difference of USD 8200. Still too much for us. By now it was 5 weeks before departure and booking through another tour operator was not very easy anymore. In the end, we opted for cheaper hotels for which we had to pay USD 2000,- extra. Unfortunately, we later had two more discussions about finances, which completely destroyed our trust in Pamoja and the fun before departure.

Fortunately, we can look back on a great trip through Kenya. The whole trip including transport, hotels and other logistics were well arranged by Pamoja. Our guides David and Alan were very professional and nice to travel with. They showed us many beautiful things and knew a lot to tell. For this, we are very grateful to them.

Dear Mrs. Maas,

Thank you so much for taking time to review our services. Your review is very important to us and we have taken time to reviewed the whole safari booking experience.

Firstly, Mr. Kurt Molin (husband) booked a 15 days Kenya safari for 8 people. To confirm the safari, it was agreed that a down deposit of 50% was to be made but unfortunately, Mr. kurt Molin (primary contact and trip leader) exclaimed in his reply “ I can’t pay 50% to some Unknow bank in Africa. What if the a company runs bankrupt?”
Mr. Kurt made a deposit of $3360 (20% of overall trip cost) via Visa online payment where a surcharge of 4% was not included. The charge was $134.4. Normaly, we discount the 4% on first payment. After charges, company received $3225.5 as 1st. deposit on 15 days kenya safari for 8 people. This safari also had domestic flights from Nairobi to Mombasa and all was to be booked. Morestill, was the train from Mombasa Amali town next to Amboseli National park.

At Pamoja we believe that sometimes, building CUSTOMER TRUST calls for integration of all our core values I.e Communication, Integrity, professionalism, time delivery, Reliability, accountability and above all GOD.

During the whole booking process, we had scored 3 of our Values i.e communication, timely delivery and proffesionalism. On signing the safari contract Between Pamoja and Mr. kurt Molin, there was/is a close that spells out espect of Forced Majuere. (circumstances above company control i.e war, epidermics, riots, etc). These among others might stop a safari from starting or attract extra costs which the company may not have control over.

On the other side, Pamoja works in conjuction with hotels, boat companies, flight companies, national parks and game reserves personels whom we call SUPPLIERS.
On booking a safari, we always rely on our suppliers prices.
Some of these suppliers can have discounts like hotels but others like Narok county government which governs the Masai Mara Game reserve passes policies like the June. 2023 newest Park Entry policy. This policy changed the Masai Mara game reserve 24 hours park Entry to 12 hours. This policy came in June. 2023 and was effective in July.2023. With the new policy, automatically had to change our short evening game drive in Masai mara on first day and short morning game drive on last day since we had 3 nights in Masai Mara.

Since this was a policy beyond our control and was passed after Mr. Kurt had booked his safari with 20%. We appealed to him to either pay about the extra new costs of the short game drives which in total was attracting extra $1280 for the whole group or stick to 2 full day games following the new policy of 12 hours from 12hrs.

In the new policies, international students pay 50% if they are undertaking research, have identity cards of their institution and their institutions must write to Narok county (manages Masai Mara Game Reserve) for approval one month in Advance.

We shared the new policy publication with Mr. Kurt and even included all possible links to different articles about it. The policy left many tour operators, clients, hotels in a challenging position.

Indeed, Mr. Kurt took time to read extensively about the new policy. When he read that international students pay 50%. He concluded by saying “ I have 6 international students on safari. I will carry their school Identity cards). We explained to him that special pass does not work for his team members but all was in vain.

In late May. 2023, riots intensified in Kenya. These riots were dubbed Azimio demostrations/ riots. The riots caused an increase in tourist cancellations of safaris. This affected many hotels , flights, boat suppliers etc to revise their policies. Most hotels required 100% full payment a month before arrival including even our popular lodges. Because the safari was in the time of Wildebeest migration, most hotels had done renovations all tentative bookings with full payment were deleted from their system and rebooking meant 100% full payment and new rates.

As Mrs. Maas as mentioned above we held many conversations to appeal for a second deposit but in vain as Mr. insisted on bringing cash on arrival. At this moment, the 20% deposit had secured domestic flights, and 1/4 deposits on 2 hotels.

Luckily enough, Mr. kurt agreed to pay extra deposits but sadly, we had lost the discounts we secured in time. We had to book new hotels and paid 100% full pament on booking.

Mrs. Maas, talked about money issues days before departure. Mr. Kurt insisted that he has 6 students on the safari and was convinced they pay 50% according to new policy by Narok county which governs Masai mara. We offered 2 safari jeeps for the group of 8 people for all 15 days and did 2 full game drives in Masai mara including 50meter cheetah kill of Thompson gazelle plus wildebeest crossing however, on the last day, we had cancelled the short morning game drive but Mr. Kurt student pass didn’t work and according to new policy of 12 hrs, the short morning game drive was only possible at paying extra $640.

To our surprise, it’s on this day that Mr. Kurt and Mrs.Maas had been gifted with a Hot air ballon experience from their travel members. This is an arrangement we learnt about in the afternoon of a day before. After, our guides finding the whole plan around the hot air ballon. The Company paid extra park entry.

Worse still, in the middle of safari the Azimio demonstrations in Kenya claimed 12 lives dead and this made us change our last hotel in Nairobi which was on streets full of riots.

On 5th.07.2023, we made 10 years of excellent service and we have never experienced such riots . We are positive that we shall offer the best experience to you and your family and friends in the near future.

Outstanding Uganda Tour to see Gorillas!
5/5

I had the best tour to go see gorillas! The two accommodations organized for me were just amazing. You get to see so much of Uganda on the lengthy drive to the national park. David, my driver, was the coolest guy and super supportive when I needed his assistance.

And for the gorillas, I saw a silverback and a mother and 2-week baby up close! It was probably the best day of my life.

Highly recommend this tour operator for the quality of the tour and their amazing support. Will have memories for life.

Worth it
5/5

We went on a 3-day gorilla trekking trip, but ended up extending the trip thanks to our wonderful guide Sperito, who always plans and tailors the best trips for us. His flexibility makes our vacation time more relaxed and filled with memorable experiences! We got to see Lake Mburo National park in addition to Bwindi impenetrable rainforest and Lake Bunyonyi. The accommodations on this trip were also definitely my favourite from all I have ever been to! Gorilla trekking was unforgettable, Bwindi is a magical place in the morning fog and the mountain gorillas so amazing to witness in their natural habitat. I can say the trip was worth evey penny.

Previous trip we took with Pamoja Tours was a tour to Jinja and Sipi Falls, and also Ssezibwa Falls on the way. We did white water tubing on the Nile and abseiling in Sipi Falls, and both experiences made me absolutely overcome myself and gave me adrenaline rushes I've never felt before. Experiencing the rapids of the Nile and the breathtaking nature of Sipi Falls left a lasting impression that I'll always be greatful for. Sipi especially is a place I recommend everyone to see!

Sperito and Daniel were great guides to us, answering questions and listening to our wishes, in addition to sense of humor that makes the trip more fun. I can say Sperito has become a friend! Pamoja is a great company with great values ja respectable ambitions and a desire to make a difference not only in great tourism experiences but also for the wellbeing of the local communities. Supporting them supports a good cause and rewards you greatly in return.
