A safari we will never forget!
Last September, by boyfriend and I went to Zambia to see this beautiful country and its amazing wildlife. We booked the 5-days untamed lower Zambezi tour, and we loved every single minute of it!
On day 1, we met Daniel, a great man who drove us from lusaka to our stay outside of the park, and guided us during these days to make sure everything went according to plan. Also, if we had any questions, he was there to answer all of them and even make changes in the schedule to make sure we had the biggest chance to see the big five. The drive from Lusaka to our stay (and back after 5 days) took 5 hours, but we were not bored for a single minute! Daniel told us everything about Zambia: the culture, the tribes, how this country developed over time and what if faces this current year. I was amazed by his stories, and he was also very interested in how our country (the Netherlands) works. We could ask him every question, and he was not held back in giving us an honest answer. That is wat amazed me so much, not every country is the same, so you can lean so much from each other. He drive with us in the park and joined a few of the boat trips, and also has great knowledge about the park! Some days he joined us for dinner, and we continued these conversations and had a big laugh.
Not far from the park, we picked up Jacob, our guide through the park, and we noticed that he has unlimited knowledge about the park and everything it has to offer. He had deep love for nature, the animals, the people, it was amazing to see him work. He knew how to get around, how to read the animals, and taught us a lot about the nature and how this animals thrive in it. But also about the challenges it faces during the drought this year. He asks you wat you want to see, and when we mentioned we wanted to see the mating pair on day 2, we saw that he immediately loved this idea. He spent almost the entire day, discussing tactics with Daniel and our driver, where to go and how to do this while not disturbing nature and the animals. This was a difficult task, because the lions were hidden war in the closed bushes. At one time, I said the following: Jacob, even if it does not work out and we cannot see them, I had a great day watching you just trying with all the pasion you show. But he did not stop: and yes, we did get to see the mating lion pair! And this did not disappoint, it was amazing. At the end of the week, he managed to show us the entire big5!! The entire week he showed respect for the animals and nature, and he showed us everything without disturbing the park. That was amazing!
When we arrived at our stay, we met Javis (I hope im writhing his name correctly), our cook, and he definitely knows his way around the kitchen. Every day, he made the most delicious meals for us, everytime it tasted amazing! They were different every day, and he managed to surprise us every time with what he had planned for us. We were very happy that he joined our trip!
I would 10000% recommend this organization, and especially the three men in my story that made our stay unforgettable. We loved every minute of it, and we wish them all the best. We will never forget them, and we will tell everyone we know about this trip!

All promises were delivered
We enjoyed every single minute of our safari. The lodge recommended was absolute perfection, we were treated like royalty. South Luangwa National Park has amazing wildlife and everything scheduled ran as planned. Absolute satisfaction, except for the fact that our guide spent a lot of time texting on his cell rather than advising us on wildlife. He may have missed some elusive cats because he was more concerned with his personal cell.

Awesome and memorable experience
our first time visiting the South Luangwa national park, I never thought it would be possible to travel within our budget as a family. we had a lovely experience to top it all wilderness horizon offered us a very friendly and exceptional service and i must say they also have very good staff who are knowledgeable on different bird species and animals indigenous to Zambia and Africa. Everything worked according to our expectations and plan.

Fabulous 2 Day Canoe Trip on the Zambezi River
The whole trip was amazing - especially given my luggage did not turn up and we needed to postpone the start of the trip by one day. Everything got rebooked and whole trip went like clockwork. David from Wilderness Horizons was there 5:30 am promptly and it was smooth sailing .... The canoes, camping equipment, food etc. couldn't have been better. I was so happy that Wilderness Safaris could tailor make my trip for just me on the dates wanted. I went on the trip as the lone female and felt perfectly safe and looked after. Would definitely recommend them and most of all will be contacting Wilderness Safaris for my next trip to Zambia - which I hope is very soon!!!

He was friendly and told a lot about the country and the people.
The campsite was on an island, it was excellent: half-tent-half-house accomodation, campfire in the evening and some wine:) The "room" was also more than okay, better than expected (from an island without any electricity). Both David the operator and the staff were nice, I cannot say a wrong word to them. The reason why I rated to average comes from 2 reasons: according to the description "Travelling time from Lusaka to Camp takes approximately 4 hrs 30min to 5 hrs." while it was rather 6-7 hours (not counting the switch of the flat tire); so practically almost 1+1 days spent with just being on road. The other was that we almost did not see any wild animal (at the very end luckily we caught a leopard). Though I know it's rather an question of luck and for that the safari crew is not to blame, but still it was then bit of a disappointment.

Posted on Sep 20, 2018Thank you Laszlo for the review, it was wonderful to host such wonderful people like you and your girlfriend.
What affected the entire travel time was traffic when leaving Lusaka because of Lumumba road which is under construction, the stopover for Lunch midway and the off road section in Kafue national park which has been affected by trucks that had used that road.
Not seeing big game more especially Lions was disappointing although as you have stated its a matter of Luck.
Several Lions prides would roar but were elusive.
The two nights safari did not gift us with enough big game sightings, usually the more nights spent the more sightings you see
Despite the big game disappointing the small game were graceful as you saw impala's, puku's, waterbuck's, bushbuck's, warthog's, sable, hartebeest, birds, crocs, hippos, monitor lizard on the river, smaller nuctunal animals, Leopard on the game cruise and another on your way out.
We hope the wilderness will be more graceful next time with more big game sightings.
We enjoyed your company and are humbled to have met such wonderful people like you and your girlfriend.
