Tanzania and Zanzibar
5/5

We had a wonderful trip to Tanzania combining the national parks of Nyerere and Ruaha and the beach on Zanzibar. Communication with Jess and Thea at Wayfarer was great and everything worked smoothly for us with flights and transfers all on time- even in the remote area of Ruaha.
Having done safaris in more popular areas we wanted the less frequented areas of Tanzania and weren’t disappointed. Mdonye old river camp in Ruaha is a distance from anywhere but you really do feel you have the park to yourselves- maybe spotting another vehicle from the camp is the only other vehicle you are likely to see- and great wildlife spotting- particularly lion and leopard.
Lake Manze in Nyerere a different area of habitat but again few other vehicles. Both camps are rustic but quite comfortable and both catered superbly for my wife’s gluten and dairy intolerance .
Breezes on Zanzibar was very good with superb staff service. Just great to chill out there after the safari week.
Wayfairer catered well for the type of trip we were looking to do

We would not change a thing - perfectly perfect in every way!
5/5

My husband and I plus one of our adult daughters spent three weeks in southern Africa - Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. Wayfairer listened to us and planned an extraordinary adventure. Every hotel, meal, transfer, flight, activity, was on time and exceeded expectations: Devils pool in Zambia was an absolute highlight - breakfast trip and the best coffee we had in three weeks, Bike tour of Victoria Falls gave us the lay of the land and the rainforest walk clearly demonstrated why you should not do the Devils Pool (as you view it from the Zimbabwe side - but do it anyway - the double rainbow as you look over the 110 metre drop is totally worth it!) . The Zambezi river cruise is also a delight as we paused mid river to allow a herd of around 40 elephants to swim across. The young bulls at the back wrestling with each other the entire way showed unexpected athleticism from these huge animals. Botswana was simply sublime. The government has supported and fostered a community tourist industry which 'adopts' you on entry. Chobe Game Lodge was our first stay - here you get the most exquisite animal encounters. An early game drive starts each day where we saw big cats - three prides of lions, an elusive leopard (remember to look in the trees!), giraffes, water buffalo, many antelopes and an array of beautiful birds. The all female guides are knowledgeable and determined to find whatever you want to see. This Lodge has the added advantage of location on the Chobe River so, you cruise after lunch - Crocodiles, Eagles, Hippopotamus, Baboons and hundreds of elephants! Then, the late afternoon game drive brings out the 'thirsty multitudes' as they prepare for the cooler evening and their search for dinner or their preparation to hide from becoming dinner! Three nights at Chobe then off to Camp Okavango in the delta - the flight in is a hoot - thermals off the desert create turbulence so it is a little rocky at times but the planes are well maintained and the pilots friendly and competent. We spent three nights at Camp Okavango amongst much song from the delightful staff. Nature walks each morning and river boats in the afternoon provided an entirely different animal experience - as we felt part of the landscape now. We walked through the animals environment and this ground level trek became our favourite adventure: warthogs and their litters feeding, antelopes, jackals, hyenas, elephants and of course hippo's. The guides were locals so they had thorough knowledge of this incredible, biodiverse environment. The delta is so full of life and a must do for any trip to Africa. We completed our trip in Cape Town staying at Seapoint and renting a car to travel around. In contrast to Johannesburg, Cape Town felt safe and welcoming. Driving is easy and the roads are readily navigable: highlights here were the climb up Lions Head (took us around 50 minutes to climb up - view is Wow!), Table Mountain cable, Cape of Good Hope and of course the Wine. Thank you Wayfairer - we are already deciding our next destination with you.

Superb Safari - great lodge choices with every element seamless and hassle-free
5/5

I shun tour packages as I refuse to be beholden to other people's whims and timetables but at the same time I hate paying fat fees to tour operators. But when it comes to wildlife safaris in remote places, thousands of miles away, think carefully. Self-drive holidays are not for the faint-hearted and although they'll save you a lot of money, as will mobile safaris, the lack of creature comforts and the logistical challenges they pose could create the kind of memories that you don't want. At the very least they're a distraction from the real aim, which is to see wildlife in a serene manner and to experience the wonder of Africa. So after shelling out a not inconsiderable amount of money for this trip, we return with nothing but the most wonderful feelings and memories. I'm so pleased that I was able to talk to human beings in planning this trip - this seems an increasingly rare privilege - and ones who had real in-the-field experience. Important tips like 'don't go when the grass is so high that it'll be harder to see wildlife' were crucial. So although language was not really a problem (in Zimbabwe and Botswana), it was so important that every link in the very long chain worked seamlessly, every cog in the wheel was so well oiled. From plane to car, from car to lodge, from lodge to jeep, from jeep into national park etc etc went well. Everyone, everywhere we went knew our next step and had everything in hand, from the timing of our meals to our wake up calls etc, allowing us the maximum time to enjoy our game drives. In fact we were particularly happy and appreciative that we could even have a last game drive even on a day when our outgoing flight was as early as 10am, because the lodge allowed us to have a shortened drive rather than none at all. Having said all this, you definitely get, as with everything in life, what you pay for. Of the two lodges that we stayed at, the pricier one was definitely the more special and left us with the most touching and lasting memories. And at the end of the experience, Josh and Juan of Wayfairers, left me very comfortable that I should return to them/Wayfairers for my next trip.

We are very happy with the service and attention from Eleanor Roberts, the itinerary was very clear, the service of the guides and quality of the cars was really good as well. The hotels booked were amazing despite the short timeframe planning the trip.
I would recommend Wayfarer Travel.

Incredible Safari Tour Operator
5/5

We felt that booking a safari was a bit of a mine field and didn’t want to be on a safari searching for wildlife for half the time and pay for an over crowded area. However, Wayfairer talked us through the do’s and don’ts, reserve vs conservancy and sent us on the trip of a lifetime. The trip was more expensive than we anticipated and it took a lot of convincing, but when we were out there, it was absolutely the right decision to pay the extra, to get the exclusivity, incredible camps and abundance of wildlife in the conservancy we were recommended. Rare become the norm, it was amazing.
If it wasn’t obvious, I’d highly recommend.

Great family Safari.
5/5

Wayfairer provided a great experience for us and we had a great time in Tanzania on Safari. The communication was clear and timely and we loved all but one of our accommodations. The communication leading up to the trip and support was really helpful and put us at ease.
Wayfairer really put together a great package for us that was perfect for our family. The camps were all in lovely settings and had great staff that were so accommodating to us as a family with three kids aged 19, 15, and 12. Our guide was fantastic and made us feel like family and took such good care of us. I can highly recommend Wayfairer to plan and organize a trip like this.

A flawless, luxury, and stress-free tour of South Africa and Rwanda.
5/5

My husband and I have traveled extensively all over the world, but we have always done it on our own. I struggled to find a tour company that I felt really understood what I was looking for in my first trip to Africa - till I talked to Maggie at Wayfairer. She developed a customized tour that was exactly what I was looking for. The logistics, the accommodations, the activities, and even dealing with covid, were all flawlessly executed. The trip exceeded all my expectations and definitely motivated some of my friends to consider a trip to Africa. I am currently planning my next trip with Wayfairer as I realized that my husband really enjoyed having someone else take care of all the details so he could just relax and enjoy!

We were able to see every animal i dreamed of and i will never forget this amazing experience.
