Choose Lark Journeys! 11 day private guided tour with Rich (best tour guide ever!)
My husband and I did a custom 11 day private guided tour across Namibia, and it was the trip of a lifetime!
Here's why we're so grateful we went with Lark...
Planning: We emailed about 5-6 different tour operators, but ultimately went with Lark, as we felt the best level of customer service with Claire through our email exchange. She was highly responsive, which was important for us, as we were booking fairly last minute (about 3 weeks before departure), so wanted to get things ironed out quickly so we could confirm our flights. With the time difference vs Toronto, I always woke up with her response in my inbox first thing in the morning. As we specifically knew what we wanted to see, we landed on a custom tour, and I had very specific questions. Claire was very organized in her responses to my questions (which was not the case with all the operators). In addition, she was able to flexibly adjust some of our accommodations to match/fit our preferences and budget, so that we could experience exactly the trip we wanted.
Now, for the actual adventure itself - everything was amazing from start to finish! We were promptly picked up at the airport. Claire walked us through our itinerary, and left us with a printed copy for easy reference. Rich was our guide/driver and he is truly a huge part of why this was such an amazing trip! We've had private guides in other places in Africa and elsewhere in the world, and we can truly say Rich is THE BEST guide we've ever had! Spending 11 days straight with him was easy, comfortable, and lovely. He didn't talk too much or too little, and clearly knows how to adjust to his audience. He's very good at reading people, and his level of helpfulness is unmatched. There were countless occasions where he addressed an issue before we even thought it to be an issue. Small example, but he'd notice I was missing a spoon, and take care of it before I even noticed I needed one. He would also help other tourists/strangers (ex. there was a 4x4 vehicle that got stuck in the sand, and he was able to easily, quickly, and proactively help them). His knowledge of all things Namibia and wildlife was also extremely impressive. For example, in Damaraland, he was able to read elephant tracks and easily find where the herd was, making for a memorable sighting. We were also able to get an amazing up-close encounter with lions, due to his knowledge and being able to anticipate where they would cross the road. Lastly, I had a request to try a local food, and he went out of his way to make it happen. There are countless other examples of how helpful Rich was - he is truly a GEM, and the best of the best!
Overall, Namibia is an amazing mix of scenery, adventure, nature, and wildlife. And no doubt you'll be able to experience/see these things no matter what tour operator you go with. But the difference maker (especially if you're doing a multi-day tour) is in the service, especially as you spend many hours with the guide. And that's why we're so glad we went with Lark! Thank you Claire and Rich for making this the trip of our dreams! Highly recommend Lark Journeys!
P.S. We also tacked on 4 days afterwards to see Chobe & Vic Falls. Lark was able to organize everything for this part of the trip for us as well.

Friendly, knowledgeable and professional travel/tour company based in Windhoek, Namibia.
From the first contact that I made I knew that this was the tour company which would provide the trip me and my friend had been looking for.
We wanted a bespoke eight day, seven night private guided tour to Damaraland over to Etosha region then eventually winding our way back to Windhoek. The accommodation on route was excellent and surpassed our expectations.
Claire and Greg organised everything including an English speaking guide in Willem, who completed his task with relish. His driving and guiding skills were supurb as was his knowledge of all things geographical, wildlife and flora.
I can only speak very highly of Lark Journeys and sincerely hope to use them again in the future.

Friendly and highly organised
Our Namibian holiday through Lark Journeys gave us a personalised itinerary that took in Windhoek, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. The accommodation organised by Claire and Greg at Lark Journeys was amazing and every activity was fun and interesting. The entire trip went like clockwork and in our opinion was value for money. Immaculate and attentive arrangements
Enquired about an off the shelf tour and ended up with a custom made trip and couldn't be happier about it. A top notch personal touch tour operator who provided an amazing Namibia safari holiday.
Claire from Lark Journeys organised the most amazing Safari Tour for us with a personalised touch and we had the most fantastic tour all around Namibia and it’s beautiful people, landscape and environment. Willem our guide was fantastic, and it was a great benefit to have his local knowledge and company. Lark went above and beyond helping us when my luggage went astray and sorted beautiful accommodation. Generally nothing was too much trouble and I would recommend using them without hesitation.

Sitting at the waterhole of Halali Lodge during sunset, watching elephants arrive and play around. Later more elephants, rhinos, hyenas and smaller animals stopped by. Lifetime memories created! The guide of Lark Journeys was very knowledgable of the wildlife and species including smaller animals, birds and plants. We really did not expect so much input. It is absolutely recommendable to go with a guide, their knowledge is making such a difference compared to self-driving tours! Animals that are hard to spot, such as leopard we would have never seen, if we did not have the input of what to watch out for. Additionally, the guides of Lark Journeys are so professional: they really try to make the trip so easy and 100% carefree for you including taking care of all the admin stuff for lodging, eating etc. If you look at what you get, the price is absolutely well worth it!
