Lions😍
Jocky tours was great value for money. As a solo traveler it was very difficult to arrange transportation on my own to amboselli and tsavo. In the end it was significantly easier and affordable to book the 5 day Masai mara, Nakuru and Naivasha safari with Jocky tours. Communications trough email with Hellen were prompt and professional. All national park fees are included and there were no hidden suprises when I arrived in Kenya.
This was my first time going on an african safari. As such I don’t have any point of reference.
The pick-up on the day of was early and I was able to snatch a good seat on their new 4x4 safari jeep. The journey from Nairobi to Amboselli was a long one. Luckily our driver Geeman, made several stops along the way for us to go to the bathroom and strech our legs. In the late afternoon after arriving at the Masai Mara he took us on a game drive. We saw elephants, lions and the African buffalo. The next day we saw many lions and a leopard. In Nakuru he showed us the white rhino completing the African big five! In Naivasha we did a boat ride around the lake. Some other tourist did crescent island. This is actually a hidden gem and a better experience than hellsgate national park (the last park of the trip).
What I liked:
- Our driver Geeman showed us many animals and was a very reliable driver. He got us everywhere safely and he wasn’t on the phone yapping the entire time like other safari vehicles.
- the hotel in Nakuru was actually an upgrade over the one mentioned in the correspondence over email.
- communication troughout the trip with jocky and the driver.
Points for improvement:
-different safari agents used the same vehicle. So there was a lot of waiting around to pick-up other guests as they were staying at different accomodation. It would have been more efficient if people staying at the same accomodation go on the same safari.
-I feel like we departed quite late for the Safari. Everyday was around 8am. Some safari groups left at 6 to be at the park when it opened. This increases the chances of seeing lions and leopards just roaming around. As such I am a little disappointed that we never left on a early morning sunrise safari. It also felt like we spent less time than we could have on the Safari.
I also specifically asked if we could leave earlier for hellsgate as it would be less hot. But this request was completely shut down.
-Time wasted being too early at some spots. On the 3rd day we departed from masai mara to visit the masai village. After that I feel like we could have drived around the area, maybe to spot some zebras up close. Instead we departed for the lunch stop. We were there almost 1 hour before lunchtime. So we had to wait around instead of for instance checking out some animals
Overall Jocky tours provide a very good value budget safari and I definitely enjoyed my self😄

Organized a well planned, smooth trip
3 night trip including Masai Mara and Nakuru. Start and return point Nairobi.
Communication: quick responses by whatsup and email before safari. During the trip updates/reminders on travel itinerary could have been a bit more thorough.
Service: well planned breaks, devoted driver/guide on game drives - effort to spot several animal species, no issues with anything, social, friendly and easy-going guide happy to answer to any questions. Experience of the guide/driver was noticeable.
Value for money: hard to compare but having a feeling that expectations were met.
Relialibity: no delays or other issues, felt safe and taken care of. Traffic safety (on transits) might have had higher expectations - local traffic and roads, seat belt quality and phone calls during drive rose some concerns.
Tour itself : many animals (including big 5) spotted providing many memorable moments. Had time to observe animals from close, mostly with a feeling that their space was respected. In total, the tour, including game drive, accommodation, food and transit, worked out very well.
However, be prepared that quite some time is spent on transit from Nairobi to the destination (and back) and the roads are partially in poor condition.

Trip of a lifetime
We did a three night safari, however most people on the tours were only doing two. They missed out!! We got two and a half days of safari and we saw absolutely loads, something different every single day. We absolutely loved it! Our drivers were Moses and Raymond, both were excellent! The accommodation was great, budget friendly, nice hosts, hot water! We thought we would be in one of their tents which looked very good in person, bathroom attached to each but we ended up getting a cottage which we were thrilled about. For our budget this package turned out to be brilliant. Would definitely recommend the Masai Mara, it is an oasis for animals, you can see them straight away once you enter the gates! And we added on a tour of the Masai Mara Village which also was very worthwhile and informative!! Best holiday we’ve been on, will be hard to beat!!

He’s very knowledgeable and passionate about his job
I started planning my trip about a half a year ago and had no idea how to find a good safari company. I spent a lot of time researching companies and stumbled upon Lenchada who had amazing reviews and are known to have great tour guides.
Let me tell you they didn’t disappoint. They were very helpful with planning my trip and quick to respond when I had specific questions.
I started my safari last week and it was the best thing I’ve experienced in my entire life, and that is solely thanks to my amazing tour guides, Ali. I spent 6 days with Ali, going all over Kenya. Ali is very knowledgeable about animals and the geography of Kenya/ the surrounding areas we spent time in. I can tell he loves his job and he is the best at what he does.
On top of that, he is very professional in the sense that he accommodates for each of his clients specific interests. I asked a lot of questions and he made sure to answer them to the best of his ability. On top of that, he helped me with a lot of things such as setting up nature walks and cultural experiences.
I told him that it was important for me to see the big 5 and he made sure that happened. A core memory that I’ll never forget was that he set up the perfect opportunity for me to take a super rare picture of a cheetah. That was amazing. He wasn’t just accommodating to me, but to everyone on the safari. Others were interested in other animals such as birds and giraffes, and he made sure their needs were met. I even became a little interested in birds thanks to that.
With all the time driving, I was always having a good time laughing and sharing stories with Ali and other members of the safari. I also felt very safe at all times. This was an experience I’ll never forget, thanks to Lenchada. I can’t recommend it any more. This is a very good company for first time safari goers and experienced ones!

Amazing experience, great people
The Safari experience was amazing and we met lovely people. Thanks to Lenchada Safari, especially Collins and Alex, and to our guide, Papa, for making our safari tour so nice. The communication was very good, always receiving quick answer and support. Papa was a great guide, explaining to us a lot of stories about the animals. In Amboseli he was the only one driving in the right spot so we can see the elephants crossing the road with view to Kilimanjaro. Always helpful, always making sure that everything is OK.
As a less pleasant part, you should pay attention to the accommodations, as the Lenchada Camp does not have wi-fi, they have electricity only between some hours and the breakfast was a bit poor. This was not communicated to us, but we talked with the agency and they made sure that the next locations are good for us. The staff from the Lenchada camp was very kind, we really appreciated their hospitality. We recommend minimum 4 days for Masai Mara, so you can have 2 full days for game drive and more chances to see the leopards. Thanks again for this nice experience!

Unforgettable Experience
A few days before I came to Kenya, I started looking for Safaris. Thinking about going to Nairobi National Park, I suddenly remembered that the Masai Mara National Reserve is only a few hours’ drive from Nairobi. So, I decided to book a Safari on this website. Thanks to the incredibly fast reply to my request by Lenchada Safaris, I was able to go on a safari with them for four days. I was supposed to go to the Maasai Mara Reserve, Naivasha and Nakuru.
Once I arrived at the Land Cruisers, I was immediately welcomed very friendly and hospitable by our guide, Ali. Very soon I discovered Ali loves his job as a safari guide, and I noticed how much knowledge and experience he has in this field. During the whole trip he was always there for us. He shared beautiful experiences, told us what to expect and always had his good sense of humor ready. In addition, he also had an eye for our safety.
Next to those things he made sure everyone got the best out of their safari. For example, I was hoping to photograph a Cheetah. Through his large network, we found a Cheetah, which however had hidden itself well. However, he assured us through his great acquired knowledge, to be patient and to wait a few minutes. He was indeed right, and I was able to photograph the Cheetah well after it started to move. Another lady was very into all sorts of birds. So, he stopped the car as much as he could when he saw a rare bird, so she could photograph that specific bird.
Today on the last day an American guy really wanted to see the rhinos in Nakuru. And again, he proved himself an amazing guide by bringing us to the rhinos and giving us information about them.
I found the Lenchada tented camp in the Maasai Mara reserve the most beautiful to stay at. In the middle of nature, surrounded by the local population, which opened a great culture with countless stories for me.
In short, thanks to Ali, I was able to experience a great, unforgettable safari. I received information about the different animal species in the national parks, but also laughed a lot and exchanged stories.
Shoutout to Lenchada Safaris and, Ali keep up the good work, until we meet again!!
