Great Safari at Mikumi and Udzungwa!
We had a great time on our tour of Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa!
We booked a three-day safari leaving from Dar Es Salaam. Two days before the safari, Mwajabu, the owner, arranged for us to be picked up by the driver, Athman, who is her brother. It was a nice touch and saved us on the taxi fare to the hotel. She met with us that evening to conduct a pre-safari briefing and to provide the final payment. She explained the itinerary, asked if we needed any special services or changes. There had been some miscommunication and apparently the final payment needed to be in cash so that they could pay for the park fees. Mwajabu and Athman gladly took us to the nearest ATM.
On the morning of the Safari, Athman picked us up and provided us peanuts and juice for breakfast. We drove directly to Mikumi, which was a five hour drive. The roads in Tanzania is quite challenging, but Athman handles it like a pro. After checking in at the park office, we started on our safari with another couple. We were joined by our guide, Gilbert. Athman drove around the park expertly, while Gilbert was hard at work on his phone getting leads from other guides. We started with a view of many impala, warthogs, zebra, wildebeest and zebra. Then, Gilbert got a call with "good news". We drove toward the good news and ran into some elephants on the way. The good news turned out to be two lionesses and their freshly killed wildebeest lunch. We were able to really get up close to to one of the lionesses, which was napping just 5 feet from our land cruiser.
After seeing the lions we headed to a restaurant in the park for lunch. Lunch was some tasty chicken. Outside the restaurant a marabou stork and some monkeys were hanging out. The rest of the day was spent driving around cm viewing many elephants, zebras, and giraffes.
After a long day we headed to Camp Bastian, where we would be staying overnight. At Camp Bastian, we were welcomed with refreshing glasses of avocado mango juice. Camp Bastian is very cute and had about a dozen cabins surrounded by beautiful gardens. The cabins were private and cute with en suite bathrooms. Dinner was served outside by candlelight and started with soup with a main of a delicious curry and rice. Alcohol was available at the bar. During dinner they took out breakfast order (omelet or pancakes) and asked us when we would like it served.
We got up for breakfast around 6:30 the next day. Breakfast was delicious and served with coffee from a French press. We then got on the road to Udzungwa. The road was mostly dirt and rutted, but again, Athman handled it like a pro. We arrived at Udzungwa and we were joined by a guide from the park. The guide was quite knowledgeable about the plants in park. We hiked a couple of hours up into the mountains and the views were spectacular. We had lunch on the top of a waterfall overlooking a beautiful view if the plains below. Lunch was a packed lunch of chicken, veggie sandwiches, banana, boiled egg, and chapati. We hiked down to a pool where people could swim though we elected not to do so ourselves. While we didn't see a lot of animals in the park, we did see a lot of beautiful butterflies and for to see a couple different kinds of monkeys.
On the last day, we went back to Mikumi and saw many giraffes, elephants, zebra impala, crocodiles, buffalo, hippos, and jackals. It was a lot of fun.
We then headed back to Dar Es Salaam. Unfortunately, we got to the city right in the midst of rush hour and it took more than 7 hours to get to our hotel. Athman never lost his cool despite the horrible traffic. Despite dropping us off at the hotel after 10 pm, Athman gladly arrived at 3:30 in the morning to take us to the airport.
We really enjoyed our safari and wholeheartedly would recommend Hello Tanzania to anyone looking for a safari in Tanzania. Thank you Mwajabu, Athman, and Gilbert!
Amazing safari, vert nice people and everything done as planned! Always available to help!
I started planning the safari trip one month before going and Mwajabu was always very efficient replying to all e-mails and giving the information i wanted.Mwajabu was on time at the airport with Abdula, her brother, that guided us to Mikumi. Mikumi is an amazing park for a 3 day safari together with udzungwa. The safari guides that were with us all the 3 days were very nice and good drivers. Nice toype 4x4. It was very easy to see all animals in Mikumi but the monkeys in udzungwa were more dificult. The bastianbcamp hotel is great and comfortable! All staff was very kind! It was a safe trip that i will not forget!

Unforgettable experience
I myself used the tour to Mikumi National Park (2 days), and had an amazing experience to see wildlife that I wanted to see for a long time. I received a response very immediately after I requested. The entire process was pretty smooth. The guide also had great knowledge about animals. Most importantly, I learned about the wildlife a lot, which increased my interests in them.

Above and beyond expectations!
Mwajabu was so helpful in planning this surprise safari trip for my husband during our honeymoon! She is absolutely the BEST! She is so sweet, well organized and goes out of her way to make sure your experience is unforgettable. True five star service.
We were staying in Zanzibar for our honeymoon, and Abdul picked us up from our hotel and took us to the airport. The night before I realized I forgot to pack the SD card for my GoPro camera. Knowing that it was Ramadan, and the only shops that sell these kinds of tourist goods would be closed I was sure we were out of luck. In hopes of a miracle, I messaged Mwajabu who had Abdul running around Stonetown to find a particular SD card after sundown when everything was closed. Abdul somehow found someone to open their shop to sell him an SD card for our trip the next morning. Above and beyond!!!
After taking a small plane from Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam then to Selous, we arrived at Lake Manze camp. We went on 3 game drives in our short 36 hour trip to Selous. Our guide Kalisti and driver Mgoma were so knowledgeable and showed us tons of animals including African elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, as well as several species of birds and so many other amazing animals I couldn't list in this short review. The food at Lake Manze was also incredible. The staff was great, the tents were not just tents, they had a shower, vanity with sink and flushing toilet. True glamping!
In all, the experience was one that we will never forget, and hope to return with the help of Mwajabu and her staff again in the future.

I felt like part of their family.
Mwajabu runs a company built on constant communication, care, and incredible experiences. Even before I arrived in Tanzania Mwajabu would check in on me every once in a while to confirm my trip and continually make sure I was going to get the experience I wanted. She was able to cater my week long trip to exactly my needs, even being a solo traveler which is extremely difficult to find a company who will host you. Once I arrived the cafe was kicked up even more, I was picked up from the airport by her brother Athman, who was my driver throughout my time in continental Tanzania. I was taken to my hotel the first night as my safari started the following morning. Then at 4 am Athman picked me up and we began our journey to Mikumi National Park. Athman ended up being less of a driver and ultimately a friend I could joke with and laugh with, even given his limited English. At Mikumi, I was introduced to my guide Gilbert, who was extremely knowledgeable about the animals and the area. Again, we interacted more as friends than someone who was being paid to show me around. Before my time in Africa, I got extremely sick in Greece and brought that bug with me o my Safari, during the second day it got extremely bad and I was unable to go on our planned hike to Udzwunga. I messaged Mwajabu and let her know of my issue in which she immediately began to try and help me get better. In about 5 minutes Athman and Gilbert were at my camp ready to take me to the pharmacy to get the mess I needed. Gilbert helped me with translation at the pharmacy and even in rural Africa I was able to get what I needed. I felt like part of their family and really truly cared for. In no time I was feeling better and we went on the incredible hike in Udzwunga where I saw amazing foliage and wildlife while completing an impressive hike to the top of a waterfall. The damp I stayed at, Bastian, was amazing. Every meal was catered around my schedule and time and when I was sick I constantly was being checked on by staff.
After my time in Mikumi, Athman drove me back to Dar airport where I boarded an incredible 20 min flight to Zanzibar. Again, Mwajabu had a driver lined up for me, Abdul, who got me to my beach resort very quickly. The resort was beautiful and I was given the opportunity from Mwajabu to go on both the Stone Town Tour and the spice tour. When it was time for me to go 7 days after my arrival, I was sad to go as I had been taken care of so perfectly. Mwajabu even had arrangements for me to connect from the domestic terminal to the international terminal in DAR. I would tecxomoned Mwajabu and Hello Tanzania 10 out of 10 times, it was beyond was I expected and I got way more than my money's worth. Thank You Mwajabu, Athman, Gilbert, and Abdul for and amazing expertise. Hopefully I will be back soon!!!

Fun and experience never-before
I traveled through Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti in 4 days. Very excited to be within 20 meters of not-so-easy-to-find cheetah after driver-guide's one hour effort.

all in all nice experience from pick up to drop off .. :-)
We booked our 2-day safari trip to Mikumi NP app. 2 months before our trip to Tanzania, from the beginning we had a nice talk with Ms. Mwajabu, the manager of Hello Tanzania, who is a really nice & caring lady. I had a lot of questions before the safari, the answers were fast and fulfilling. The pick up time was early in the morning around 4am, cause our flight arrived that early, Mwajabu and our driver were already at the airport waiting for us. After 5 hours driving we were in the park, changed the car to open roof and went for the game drive. We saw a lot of animals, it was a great experience to be so close to the wild animals, we were happy. In the evening we went to our acommodation, Tan Swiss Lodge with a pool, it was nice spacious room, with aircondition, TV, mosquito net etc. Another day we started with a tasty breakfast, after that we had another game drive in the park. Later we went back to DAR, but unfortunatelly we missed our flight to Zanzibar due to huge traffic jam in DAR. But during getting stucked in that jam I wrote Ms. Mwajabu, she immediately acted, she pre-booked our flight with the airline for next day, she offered us 1 night in the hotel near the airport and also dinner, and all that FOR FREE. It was very generous and we didnt expect such kindness within this for us unpleasant situation. So I would really like to thank a lot Ms. Mwajabu for such a nice taking care of us. The last day before our flight back to Europe we had a half day more, we used their services again for taking us to the city center, the driver was waiting for us all the time, with our luggage in the car and after we finished he took us back to the airport. Great Service. I recommend Hello Tanzania to everyone. Asante sana Mwajabu & Athman & staff of Hello Tanzania!
