Just awesome
5/5

We've just returned from a trip of a lifetime.
And we cannot praise Ann and her team enough. From first making contact with 'Long Ways Expeditions' to the last day nothing was too much for the team and we felt well supported and looked after.
We had the most wonderful time, it was unbelievable how our driver, 'eagle eyed' Abraham spotted the animals. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the birds and wildlife. We came so very close to elephants, lions, baboons and giraffes, to name just a few. We even saw a leopard feeding on a carcass in a tree.
All the lodges we stayed in (locally owned) were absolutely fantastic and so was the food.
We can highly recommend the company. Anybody wanting to have a truly wonderful experience in Tanzania should contact 'Long Way Expeditions' and they will ensure you have a great experience. Ann came to see us on the last day to get our feedback. Nothing was too much for her.

Trip of a lifetime with attention to detail, community and eco-focus, and unforgettable experiences
5/5

This was truly the trip of a lifetime. We found Long Way Expeditions through Responsible Travel and their attention to supporting the community and sustainable practices was much appreciated and apparent in day to day practices as well as the lodges and companies they support. Ann was responsive and accommodating throughout the booking process. In addition to our custom safari itinerary, she was able to set up our logistics for segments of our trip far across the country, including a beach stay in Zanzibar. From the minute Abu met us at the airport in Arusha, we knew we were in good hands. Abu's ability to see animals while navigating rutted and narrow roads was incredible. His deep familiarity of the area and the flora and fauna that inhabit it was shared and made the experience more meaningful and impactful. We traveled in Africa for our honeymoon and Ann made sure each hotel knew we were celebrating a special occasion. I cannot say enough good things about this company. If you value supporting locally owned companies, eco-friendly travel, and a unique, specialized experience, Long Way Expeditions is for you. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome Safari Company!
5/5

I recently went on a 6-day safari with Long Way Expeditions. We visited 3 different National Parks and I’m happy to say that I did get awesome pictures of “The Big Five” animals during my safari. I can’t say enough good things about Ann and Abu, the owners of Long Way. I received excellent, personalized service while booking the trip as well as upon my arrival to Africa and throughout the safari itself. Abu is very knowledgeable about the animals, the parks we visited, and he has an eagle eye for spotting wildlife that I could hardly believe. On a few occasions, it took some effort for me to find an animal through my zoom lens that Abu spotted with the naked eye as we were driving! Although the parks are navigated mostly via dirt tire ruts all over the place, Abu never hesitated on making a turn or ever consulted a map. He has many years of experience travelling through the parks. The day before my safari, Ann personally came to see me at my hotel, and we sat together as she explained what to expect and how the safari would work. Ann and Abu were both very responsive to texts and emails whenever I needed information. There are larger safari companies out there, but I’d highly recommend this family run business that gives a more personal approach any day. Highly recommended, they are truly a 10/10 safari company. I couldn’t say “Asante Sana” enough for their work.

Trip of a lifetime!
5/5

This was absolutely a trip of a lifetime. We found Long Way Expeditions through Responsible Travel. We did look at other companies but landed on this one because the itinerary was exactly what we were looking for. When planning this trip, Ann was able to accommodate us and make a few changes and help us fine tune our experience. From the moment Abu warmly greeted us at the airport with a broad smile and Ann greeted us at the hotel with an equally warm smile to discuss our time with them, we relaxed from the day’s travels and knew we were in good hands. Everyday was an adventure. Abu was the best guide. Whenever possible, he gave us an experience away from all the other tourists yet enabled us to see all the wonders of Tanzania up close. It was wonderful to deal with a locally owned company, a husband and wife team and an expedition company committed to supporting their community and making it a better place. Just the kind of company we wanted to support vs a company putting profit ahead of people. I truly can’t say enough about this tour company. Ann and Abu care about their clients and their community. And it shows.

Thoughtful, knowledgeable and bespoke tour at great value!
5/5

Thank you to Ann and Abu!
We had the most incredible safari, from the moment we arrived we felt so well taken cared of and comfortable. Ann and Abu planned an amazing experience, from a perfectly crafted and personalised itinerary, to homemade lunches, local coffee, breathtaking accommodation and of course an unforgettable safari.
If you are considering going to this part of the world, we highly recommend Long Way Expeditions, going with a local company means a different level of understanding, care and consideration for the region as well as money going back into the Tanzanian economy.
Thank you again, we'll be back!

Everything organised by Longway Expeditions who went the extra mile to make it the most amazing adventure.
Ann and Abu were both brilliant and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

accomodating and on top of things
5/5

We want to thank Ann for an unforgettable experience in Tanzania.
We were well taken care of and Ann remained accommodating and contactable during the trip.
Our very experienced guide, Tuma, was helpful and knowledgeable to show us the beauty of the flora and fauna in the parks. He also knew how to keep us safe.
He brought us to catch the wildebeest crossing, the Big Five and many other animals besides, and at close range!
Tanzania’s parks and animals are thriving, so do put yourself in Ann’s capable hands if you’re planning on a safari in Africa soon.

Exceptional experience with Longway Expeditions
5/5

My partner and I have just returned from a trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar with Longway Expeditions. And it was nothing short of INCREDIBLE.

One important factor for us was to travel with a local company, supporting the local economy and community. I was connected to Longway Expeditions through Responsible Travel in Brighton. Our trip was 7 days in Tanzania visiting Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and a hike on Kilimanjaro, followed by 5 nights in Zanzibar.

From my first interaction with co-owner Anne, I knew we had made the right choice. Anne was friendly, helpful and communicative, providing a detailed itinerary and all the information we needed ahead of the trip. She was flexible and accommodating, even when we requested a last-minute change to the agenda. And we were later to find out that she was also an amazing cook, as we enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals while out on some of our drives.

Anne’s husband and business partner Abu was our driver and guide for the 7 days in Tanzania. Abu picked us up from the airport and immediately made us feel welcome and at ease. Throughout our time with Abu, it was clear he did things differently and we learnt so much. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the parks and their fascinating wildlife and ecosystems, which he took time to share, enriching our experience. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had the best animal sightings possible – often taking quieter, less crowded routes – and it paid off with the rich diversity of animals we saw. We came up close and personal with elephants, saw mating lions on their ‘honeymoon’, found lion cubs and cheetahs snoozing, watched 2 male giraffes fighting, tracked hundreds of zebra and wildebeests along their migration, and so much more.

The accommodation throughout was excellent. Clean, comfortable and with a focus on locally owned. Some lodges even have kitchen gardens, providing fresh food straight to the plate. A particular highlight was the Into the Wild Africa tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti, where we could hear the lions prowling outside at night!

When I asked Abu how they came up with the name Longway Expeditions, he told me that it reflected the long path that he and Anne had come along together to set up their dream. Their passion, hard work, love of their beautiful country, knowledge and expertise, attention to detail, and care for the people and planet shine through in every way. When we said goodbye at the airport, I had genuine tears in my eyes. The whole experience had touched me deeply and I felt like I was saying goodbye to old friends.

For anyone considering a safari holiday in Tanzania or Kenya, I cannot recommend Longway Expeditions highly enough.

Asante Sana Anne and Abu. We are already planning our next trip!

Unforgettable!
5/5

Overall experience exceeding my expectations. This was in large part due to Tuma, our driver. He's an experienced and capable driver with over 18 years of experience. From the onset Tuma professionalism & positive attitude contributed to an outstanding safari. More importantly he got the tires service before we started the journey. During our weekly safari there were several vehicles that broke down & some accidents occurred. We notice several vehicles driving very reckless; but not ours. I highly recommend screening the safari drivers to ensure you stay away from inexperienced and young drivers. There were no questions went unanswered. Our driver had a college background degree in Wildlife Management that served us well. We learn so much about the Serengeti and Tuma provided a historical perspective on all areas visited. Personally I like to thank the owners for making this a memorable trip. Keep up the good work and HIGHLY recommend anyone researching Long Way Expeditions, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
