Safari 4 days (serengeti/Tarangire/ngorongor) lodge and camp site.
5/5

We are a groupe of 6 friends Ho dreamed of doing a safari for so long.
We choose crater explorer for our first African safari ! We were not at all disappointed but rather very pleased.

Emmanuel is a very good host who listened and met everything we asked.

He met us at the airport drove us to our hôtel in arusha and spent the hole day with us.

He gives very good advices for where to buy things etc.

The day after we met our guide david. A very good human being who knows his ways around the parks. He took us to serengeti, Tarangire and ngorongoro. He gave us very good informations along the way and toke good care of us. Frankly we couldn’t ask for a better guide.

The food was delicious, we had some home cooked meals even in the wilderness.

We stayed at marrera mountain view lodge for our first night than seronera wild life and simba camp. Frankly, the lodges exceeded our expectations!

I highly recommend crater explorer for a safari for their hospitality, good price and good humour.

Well organized
5/5

We lived with Crater Explorer Tours and Safaris the most magical experience of our lives.
Everything was well organized, sleeping in the tents in the camps in the middle of the animals was incredible, the guide was great and the chef prepared very good dishes for us.
We saw a lot of animals in 3 days, much more than we could have imagined.
I recommend 100%, very good value for money!

Tanzania and its nature was great but we had some bad experience with tour guys
3/5

First of all, I loved Tanzania and everything I saw and I experienced during my trip. You can book any tours via here (I mean this website not th tour company) its really perfect. I had 4 days tour but I think 2 or 3 days would be really enough. Don’t waste your money and days for extra 1-2 day.

Our first day, our car broken and they gave us back up car. It was full of dust, we couldn’t even breathe. Also, with new car we had a new driver for that day. He driven car so fast (our speed was 3 times more then the others). Even our warning he just drive fast and it wasn’t safe. After the arriving camp site we waited more then 3 hours to eat and get into our tent. Every other groups ate their dinner and went to their tent and we just waited outside with nothing (no food, no tent, not even chair we just waited ). Anyway we asked where is our tents and where is our driver to every responsible person over there and they told us oh he will come in 30 mins every time. And after 3-4 hours they gave us tent which I should have my own tent but I shared with stranger. At midnight they told us they never talked with driver -they said they talked with him and he will come in 30 min severel times- and they told us to go to sleep. Also we didn’t have morning plan because we didn’t have driver. In the afternoon our driver came but we had same problems everyday. Our car broken 3 times, no body try to explain anything, we always went to campsite latest and started to tour every morning latest. It was really bad experience in that way.

PS: You can buy cheapest tour for same program because people in my group we all bought same tour from different operators. For the same tour we paid different amounts (there was a 250 dollars difference me and a guy). So with the over 4 stars operator you can choose cheaper one

Superb company
5/5

We booked a 5 day/4 night safari after friends recommended the trip to us.

From start to finish, Emanuel has been faultless and couldn't do enough for us. We were picked up from the airport and dropped at our hotel in Arusha that night. The next morning, we were collected from the hotel and met up with the rest of the group. The driver was friendly, welcoming and we felt at ease.

The safari itself was fabulous and we saw lots of animals which created many memories. The drivers were more than happy to stop for as long as we wanted to see the animals and they also talked on radios to each other to so that we didn't miss any opportunities.

We chose to stay in the lodges instead of camping which were all perfect and even better than we had hoped for. At one lodge in the Serengeti, there were elephants roaming around freely all night and were still there in the morning!

The meals provided (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were all delicious and the chef cooked a variety of different options. Emanuel also sorted gluten free options for myself which was a bonus and he also let all the lodges and drivers know about it so there was no risk of being unwell.

Emanuel was always at the end of the phone whenever we had questions and nothing was too much trouble for him.

He even came to our hotel on our final night to check we were happy with the safari experience - a lovely touch which not many companies would bother doing.

We wouldn't hesitate to book again with Crater Explorer if we wanted another safari experience.

An excellent choice
5/5

Choosing an agency for a safari in Tanzania was not easy. There were hundreds of them offering the most diverse safaris, each with different locations, accommodation, duration, meals, etc. Fortunately, after a lot of research, I ended up finding Crater Explorer Tours & Safaris, based in Arusha. There were dozens of emails and WhatsApp messages exchanged, until we arrived at a script that met my desires and needs. And always promptly answered by its owner, Mr. Emanuel. The price was one of the best I found, with 5 full days of safaris, in Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park, with good hotels and full meals, which even received praise from other tourists who saw them. With the exception of the rhinos, we saw every animal possible, including a solitary tortoise walking through the savannah. Transfers to and from Arusha airport were included. With the cancellation of my flight to Dar es Salam, which would take place in the afternoon, my flight was rescheduled to 5 am, and, without any problems or charge for it, Mr. Emanuel took us to the airport at 2 am. He also made efforts to try to find space on other flights. Other positives: the safari car, very well maintained and equipped, and our guide, Frank, very well prepared to talk about the animals, the geological formations, the savannah, etc. Attentive and very patient. I was impressed by his eagle vision. Sometimes I stopped the car and watched. We didn't see anything, but he pointed and said: lions, elephants..... . We took the binoculars and there they were. As our safari was private, we were just the 2 people, which was also a benefit, as we decided when to stop and when to leave. In short: I was very pleased and happy to have found Crater Explorer Tours, which allowed everything to go well on this trip that was one of the most spectacular of my life. Thank you Mr. Emanuel and Mr. Frank.

It was a great safari
5/5

Was fantastic experience! I did the camping because I wanted to have the full adventure experience. We drove a long way the first day, but we still saw a bunch of stuff including a leopard along the way. Second day was in serengeti. Amazing place! Saw the big five by lunchtime, though the rhino was a long ways away. Watched a lion going after a little gazelle who had just freed himself from the mud right by our truck and a ton of real world interaction. Not like the zoo at all!

The third day we spent in ngorongoro crater. They had a ton of wildebeest and zebra and we saw them all interacting with each other and the predators as well. There were three lions defending a kill from jackals by the side of the road, and we watched some hyenas unsuccessfully hunt some zebras nearby.

The fourth day we went to ngirengiri or however you spell it lol. Not as good, but still saw a lot of elephants and giraffes with their babies up close. Probably the closest of the three parks. And the animals were much more vocal in this park.

The guide Ndalu was very knowledgeable and funny. The chef Don was shockingly good. I really think those of us who camped economy ate better than the two people in our party who stayed at the fancier campus. Really, really good dinners. I didn't even want breakfast in the morning, but I ate it anyway lol

Just a good time. Emanuel and Noel are great guys and I expect them to be one of the more successful tour companies in the near future. Emanuel actually drove all the way out to moshi from arusha to pick me up and drop me off. What kind of business owners do that?? -Peter

Unforgettable experience!
5/5

I had amazing 6 days, 5 nights exploring the different parks of Northern Tanzania. I saw many many animals, also very close by (only 1-2 meters away) which was absolutely breathtaking! I also saw lions hunting a prey and many baby animals. The sunset at Serengeti and sunrise at Ngorongoro are absolutely amazing!

I traveled solo and did a joined group safari. For 5 days I was with one group and the last day I joined another group with another driver. I slept in lodges while the others were camping so some time was spent dropping off and picking up everyone and prepping the car with the tent equipment. This wasn't clear to me from the start. I expected to be with the same group the whole trip and thought we were sleeping in the same places. However, the way they do things makes sense so everyone gets the package they want. This could have been communicated more clearly beforehand, but I also didn't ask.
In the end I wasn't bothered by it and the group I traveled with as well as all the drivers were great people! Also Emanuel clarified all my questions on the way since he was quick to answer my messages.

Big thank you would go to Saleem, the driver for 4 days, since he delivered everything he promised and we saw more than could ever hope for! Mussa and Penda were also great drivers and I had wonderful conversations with them. They were very happy to share information about their country!
