Perfect tailor-made tented safari
We booked a tailor-made safari starting in Maun and ending in Victoria Falls with Sekanka and were happy we did. The itinerary was suited to our wishes. We traveled with just our family of 4 and loved spending time with the Sekanka team. Your guide Macha is always friendly and positive, Thalo the driver is super skilled. Even when driving through the most difficult terrains such as loose sand he managed to spot wild-life and made us feel safe with him. Neem is funny and a skilled chef. A great team to spend your safari with. Looking back, the only thing we would change is to stay in the same camp site for more than one night. The days we spend just one night in a camp sight were a bit too rushed with setting up and breaking down camp, since your team will do that. There is not a second team traveling ahead to take care of that like many of the larger companies do but the more family style and tailor-made tour that you get in return is very much worth that. Our favorite days were by far those in Xakanaxa area, such a stunning area were where were lucky enough to spot some rare game sights such as a leopard an wild dogs devouring their pray. We also enjoyed the Kasane Chobe boat tour a lot but in all honesty, the few days at the end at a comfortable lodge in Victoria Falls were a welcome change of scenery as well. Tents will be tents and despite the best efforts to make the tent as comfortable as possible, it will always be camping in a dusty environment. We had an amazing safari and anyone looking for a reference is welcome to contact me.

A unique and unforgettable experience
Okavango was on our bucket list and on short notice, Sekanka Safaris was able to organize and tailor an incredible camping safari from Maun to Xakanaxa and Khwai. Although we are seasoned safari-goers, this was our first minimalistic camping experience in the wilderness, as previously we slept in safari lodges or hotels.
Our guides Thalo and Ben delivered their services in an extraordinary, pleasant, and friendly manner. They made us feel at home, taking care of all aspects that would make our safari unforgettable. Everything was well organized from the onset, safe, with excellent guidance, explanations, and storytelling of the endless wildlife, flora, people, and local culture.

Great choice for seeing amazing animals and breathtaking landscapes
My wife and I enjoyed a 5 day Chobe safari with Thaloganyo Phetolo (Thalo) and Sekanka Safari. The timing was early June, during the beginning of the dry season, where the nights were very cool and the animals were plentiful. The safari focus was on the Chobe; the landscape, birds and animals. The focus was not on pampering guests. A couple of examples come to mind. While we were out looking for lions, we passed another group that had stopped for afternoon cocktail hour. We enjoyed the wildlife and they enjoyed their drink. Another example is we had cold breakfasts (actually the same breakfast we normally eat at home) so that we could get out early to see the wildlife as the sun rose. Sekanka offered the type of travel we prefer; out enjoying nature. As we looked into a safari with Sekanka, all our questions were quickly answered and, thanks to their flexibility, we were on a safari that matched our schedule and the regions of the Chobe we wanted to see. During the trip, Thalo and his team were very accommodating, working with us as we fine tuned the day’s activities each morning. The equipment was clean and in good condition. My only complaint was I wasn’t smart enough to select an 8 day stay in the Chobe. I recommend Sekanka as a great choice for those who enjoy being close to nature, sleeping in tents, and experience Chobe up close and personal.

Unforgetable experience, intimate and personalized safari with an awesome family-run team!
We can only strongly recommend Sekanka Travel and Tours Safaris. They prepared an itinerary perfectly fitting our needs and time constraints. Having no real safari experience we were somewhat uncertain how it would work out with our daughter (6 years) and camping in the wild. From the start the team made us feel very comfortable, safe and "at home." We loved every minute of it. Thalo went out of his way to make sure we would have the experience of our lifetime! Sometimes it is those small details which make a difference, like organizing marshmallows at the last minute for our daughter for the campfires. Low managed to always prepare wonderful food with the little extra touch. To see some of the more exotic wildlife you need luck, good timing, and a great guide. We had all of these! Thank you Lethi! All together a wonderful experience we will always cherish.

Moremi and Kasane – fantastic and memorable safari tours
We were a party of four (two couples) and booked an individual 5-day-tour with Sekanka Safaris. Communication was easy and professional.
On the day of our departure in Maun we were picked up at our accommodation by our guide Thaloganyo, who was the perfect guide with lots of knowledge about the area and animals. We then drove to the Moremi Game Reserve with our lodge for the stay located in Khwai. From our lodge we went on four safari tours which left us in absolute awe: Nature, scenery, and most of all these beautiful animals that we were lucky to see. Numerous giraffes, water buffalos, zebras, impalas, wart hogs, occasional hyenas. The highlight were definitely the majestical elephants everywhere (we love elephants) and on top of that we saw a pride of 24!!! lionesses feeding.
On day three of our tour we left Khwai and headed to Kasane. Here we did a little day tour to the Victoria Falls via Zimbabwe, which was a very lovely trip with a walk along the waterfalls. The next day we took a River Safari on the Zambesi River around Sedudu Island. This island is special, because it is always green and the animals have to cross a wide river to get there. This we were able to witness as a herd of elephants crossed the river in the evening to the mainland, with the bigger elephants supporting the smaller ones that could only lift their trunk out of the water.
The next day we then had the drive back to Maun which brought our memorable safari tour to an end.
Sekanka took care of everything: booking the lodges and cars, getting into the parks, food, etc.
Thanks to everybody, it was exceptional.

The perfect value for price option
We recently completed our honeymoon with Sekanka Travel and Tours Safaris, traveling from Maun to Victoria Falls in September 2024, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.
From the very beginning, the booking process was incredibly smooth and straightforward. The team at Sekanka was flexible and really attentive to our needs, ensuring that our trip was tailored to what we wanted. Even we did not know the company the payment process and method was trustful!
The first few days of the tour, including the accommodations and meals, were suitable for the price we paid. While the accommodation was comfortable and the meals adequate, it’s important to note that the vehicle used for the safari was the oldest one in the area, which led to a few breakdowns along the way. One of these breakdowns came close to making us miss an activity, which was a bit stressful, but the driver was quick to resolve the issue each time.
However, as the trip went on, the experience improved dramatically. The final nights of our tour and the sunset cruise were absolutely amazing—truly the highlight of our trip. The service and views were exceptional, making up for the earlier hiccups.
We also shared the try with another 2 couples from USA and Nederland and it was so great!
Overall, we highly recommend Sekanka Travel and Tours Safaris. Despite the few setbacks, the company is professional, accommodating, and offers a truly memorable safari experience.

Organised
We are a retired couple and were looking to get a close-up feel of an African experience at a reasonable cost. Online we discovered Sekanka Travel. The Safari is a 'partnership'. The support staff set up and clean up camp, gather the firewood, prepare wholesome and nutritious food, warm up the water for a hasty private bush shower and lay out the drinks table around the fire for the return of the hard working guests after a game viewing drive or boat excursion.
The eagle eyed guides give expert identification and background information on game, bird life and local flora. Think 'those rocks are actually hippos, that log is a crocodile, the lions eating that hippo killed it last night!'
In tough terrain, mechanical glitches (apparently rare) do happen. Support from head office and a resourceful and resilient crew kept the show close to schedule.
Meet, greet and transfers all went extremely smoothly.
A great adventure, life long memories and a few stories to embellish back home.
Thanks team.

A very good company for African tourists with experience
The communication, service and value for money were very good.
The ideas and skills of the cook were incredible, as she was able to create the most delicious dishes using the simplest of ingredients.

Posted on Jun 29, 2024Thank you for traveling with Sekanka & for reviewing your experience. Your 22 days safari ran smoothly from start to finish and the team went over board and even organised activities that were not quoted for - like a sundowner in Khwai, a dinner with a local family and a village visit. It would have been nice to hear the negative parts and how a 4 star review was earned from this trip. This critique would be helpful to know so that we grow and improve our services.

Botswana, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Zambia and the zambezi were all an amazing experience.
The tour was value for money, we stayed at some amazing places and the food everywhere was brilliant. We had booked this holiday not wanting or expecting luxury. We wanted 2 or 3 star guest house/ lodges for the experiences. There we some last minute changes which really annoyed us ( in the places we stayed) some were an upgrade which we did not really want. Our guides for the whole trip were brilliant. I would stay at all the lodges again, but not sure if I would use the same company. However we all loved it.

Posted on Jun 29, 2024We are very surprised, to say the least, with how you rated our services. There were no last-minute changes per se, but calculated changes following feedback from the clients that traveled before you. For the 2 lodges, we had changed there were valid reasons and the changes were done in good faith, with both lodges upgraded.
We do acknowledge you wanted to stay at 2/3-star accommodations but I am not sure if you would have enjoyed taking cold showers or felt comfortable in situations that were described as 'appalling' by other clients that travelled before you. Or in Victoria Falls, where allocated rooms were near the bar and restaurant when we knew the lodge was fully booked and the noise was going to be a problem.
You had initially contacted us about the changes and we went into detail about the situation, at that time to your satisfaction. In the email you responded with you said 'There were no complaints'.
We are a small team and company but we are sure you were hosted fully and with great professionalism. Your 3-star review lacks objectivity altogether and therefore fairness to all the people that hosted you on your visit. Even more, since you say they were brilliant at the same time.
Reading your review, in which you are complementing the guides, expressing your satisfaction with the food in all the places and the places themselves and stating that you would ''stay at all the lodges again'' and furthermore saying that ''we all loved it'' contradicts the fact that you would not use our services again - as we made it happen.
We would have welcomed and appreciated objective criticism as it helps us grow and improve our services.
