Meet dik-dik, playing lions, hippo and grieving mother elephant - meet Ruaha
Many companies offer safari tours, companies with skills and
lots of experience.
Kitonga Tours & Safaris in Ruaha National Park offers both, but first of all a warm and friendly attitude, and deep respect and love for all animals and the nature around them.
Ruaha is a lovely place, a huge, beautiful, wildlife-rich national park.
We drove in on Christmas Eve, met immediately four playing and proud lions, a grieving mother elephant - just lost her baby - and the tallest and sweetest giraffe
‘ever’.
Our guides Given and Alex were outstanding. Steady, calm, informing and dedicated, with lots of humor.
Our four days and three nights in wild Ruaha will remain a solid milestone in our lives. The tripping hippos. Sleeping crocodile. And hungry leopard. And the sweet ranger following us to the bandas at night with a kalashnikov in her fist. We could meet an eating hippo around, dining after dark. Or just a lion.
Warm and kind regards to Given, Alex, Paul and Salom at Kitongas.
Best,
Katinka, Truls, Jeanette and Per Ola

FANTASTIC 3 day Ruaha Safari
We had an amazing experience and saw so many animals. Gerald was great at communicating with us and was willing to help problem solve when we had issues with payment. Please be aware the expectation is a downpayment that is done online but when you arrive in person the remaining is paid in cash unless you pay all online in advance.
The team on the safari was very relaxed and made us feel comfortable in every way. The driver shared so much interesting information with us and was so patient letting us sit and enjoy a view for as long as we wanted. The chef did a great job of cooking delicious meals. Of course I recommend bringing some snacks as well because if you are only traveling in Tanzania for a few days, your stomach will not be used to all of the new ingredients. We didn't have any issues but we also have been living in Tanzania for some time now.
The 3-day and two night tour felt like the perfect amount of time. We went in August (winter for Tanzania) and I was a bit surprised at how cool it can be during the sunrise game drives especially when the car windows are down. I recommend bringing layers, or a small coat.
Again, a lovely experience. Would use the same company again in a heartbeat. And from what we experienced and what the driver told us, Ruaha is a great park because it's not as touristy as others. Very true, we sometimes went 3-4 hours without seeing any other vehicle so it makes the experience so special and private.

3 Days in Ruaha National Park and two days in Iringa – with teenager girls
We (mother with twin-daughters at 16 years), had a wonderful Safari-tour with Kitonga Tours. I started the preparations 4 months before the trip, and had close mail-correspondence with Paul from the Kitonga-office for several months. It was very important for me that we got the “perfect” tour, and I had many questions regarding the tour-plan, timing, transportation, pricing etc, which Paul always answered fast and patiently. So, I felt very confident and safe to use Kitonga as our tour-agency.
Before going to Iringa/Ruaha we spend some days in the North of Tanzania, so we had arranged with Kitonga to pick us up in Kondoa. We were picked up here in a very nice and comfortable transfer car, so the 9 hour drive to Iringa was just nice and relaxing, with wonderful view of local life and nature along the road. We were served cold drinks along the whole way, could charge our phones in the car, wi-fi was available most of the time, and the driver was driving safely. We slept at “Iringa Sunset Hotel”, a very nice place with great view from the terrasse-restaurant, very nice rooms, and extremely friendly staff. The only thing to comment on was the weather: In the end of June it was quite cold here.
Early next morning we started the beautiful drive (3 hours) to Ruaha National Park, and by noon we started the game-drive in the park. The wildlife in Ruaha is fascinating. In three days we saw a LOT of animals. The park is famous for the large number of elephants, and there are also very many giraffes, impalas, water bucks, baboons, etc. We also saw several lions, jackals, buffalo’s, and even wild dogs, and some animals we never had heard about before. Paul and the driver were good at spotting the animals, and explaining about them.
The Park is very big, and therefore we were sometimes driving for a while without spotting any animals, but the landscape in the park is really amazing – not at least all the huge and old Baobab trees. There are also many beautiful palm trees, funny sausage trees, and a lot more. But the main reason to visit Ruaha is the quite atmosphere, and the less amount of other tourists. Here you do not drive in a long row of cars, there will often pass hours without seeing another Safari-car, and you therefor get a feeling of an authentic safari-experience. The bandas where we were sleeping inside the park were simple but charming, with animals grassing outside during the night.
Kitonga Tours did a great job in arranging and realizing our Safari-tour – making our dream come true.

breathtaking is the word that sums up the experience that I lived! gerald and the guid were always kind, helpful, friendly and taught us many curiosities, without ever making us miss anything just like the cook. Kitonga Tours is a reliable company that makes your trip in Tanzania and safari unforgettable
Paul organised our trip from our departure in Dar Es Salaam, over Iringa Town through Ruaha National Park, Udzungwa Mountains, and back to Dar Es Salaam. The communication was clear and he listened carefully to our wishes and needs. Driver Godfrey drove us in a comfortable bus safe all the way. In the National parks, we did lovely safaris in comfortable 4x4 vehicles. The guides (Paul and Alex) showed us the most beautifull corners of the park, and the animals living in the park. There was more than enough drinks and food was delicious. We expierienced very good service, value for money! I can really recommend this company over all.

Competence and hospitality!
Truly spectacular experience. Sleeping inside the park and hearing the animals moving near the accommodations at night is something indescribable. Definitely an expert and competent guide, as well as always friendly and kind. Super recommended!

Way up to the Roof of Africa
Way up to the Roof of Africa with Kitonga Tour was amazing experience. We did 8 days Lemosho Route in October and were very lucky with the weather, no rain. Our guides Stanley and Ombenio were absolutely fantastic. They pushed us to achieve the best performance while balancing energy. The TEAM was fabulous and put in a solid effort every day to arrange everything. We couldn't have asked for a better travel companion for our Kilimajaro adventure. Gerald Sante Sana for organising all!

The best Safari Company in Tanzania
I had an unforgettable experience in the wilderness as i toured to Ruaha National Park with my favourite travel company in Tanzania. It was my first time to travel with Kitonga tours around Tanzania and they provided to me out the best services. The guide was so calm, cheerful and very informed when it came to wildlife species. This country is very beautiful and full of wonders that will leave you want to know and see more. I had a taste on the famous fast food called Chipsi Mayai at the roadside and trust me it was more than delicious. The flora and fauna in this park are breathe taking and the guide explained each and everything we asked him without any doubt. The cool breeze and beautiful scenery as you travel are also breathe taking. But always remember to move with a power bank so that you keep recording and capturing the moments to create evidence of your the adventure. Kitonga tours & Safaris is really a trustworthy and best travel company in Tanzania.
