Remarkable Safari
I joined a 7-day private safari tour. Our driver and guide, Zachary, was very kind and managed the time according to our preferences.
During the safari, we were able to see all the animals we wanted to see.
Thank you for the wonderful safari experience provided over these 7 days.

Great, attentive, friendly and helpful
The 7days six nights safari was once in a lifetime experience for me and really worth for the money. Staff of the company were helpful and communicated well with us. Our driver and guide Zachary was very friendly and cheerful. He made sure everything was fine and well prepared for us during the trip. He provided us a lot of information and tried to find us as many wildlife as possible . We were very happy and thankful for all the help and arrangement.

This is a professionally run safari with great value.
We were completely happy with every aspect of our safari. Our guide, David, was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and was always eager to impart that information to us. He is the guides’ guide as he often told other drivers where to go look for the animals. I’m so amazed how he can spot an animal hidden far away as he drove. He’d stop and tell us where to look and sometimes it took us 10-15 minutes with binoculars to find the animal. He’d go to any length possible to make our adventure the best possible one. He also knows how animals behave and will park at a spot where he knows the animal will walk towards. He’ll beat other drivers to getting the best viewing spot. Also he’ll park where you’ll get the best angle photographically and tell you if a video would be better and he’s right.
Originally we booked a minivan but upgraded to a Land Cruiser and were glad we did. About 90% of the safari vehicles in Maasai Mara and Amboselli National Parks were Land Cruisers. We used an open top minivan with another operator in Nairobi national park and got stuck in wet mud on one section. We had to wait until another vehicle came by to use a bungee cord to pull our minivan out. Land Cruisers with their four wheel drive are much less likely to get stuck and the seating is more spacious then the minivans.
We also upgraded to a private safari which is good because we can tell David however long we want to stay at any given viewing spot. Often the drives are hours long and one time after eating something bad I had to tell David to pull over so I could use a “bush toilet.” I would have been embarrassed if I had to do so with a shared safari packed with strangers.
We were wary about doing the optional Lake Nakuru 2 hour boat ride and nature walk after reading reviews. But we were glad we did. You can see hippos much closer on the boat and you can walk to about 20 feet from wildlife.
We did the optional Massai village tour and it was interesting to see and learn how they live. However, we did have a bad taste at the end when we were led into their market area where we were subject to overly aggressive sales tactics for souvenirs vastly overpriced by multiples over what you can pay anywhere else for the exact same items.
We help support the massai with the “donation” fee for admission on the front end and to subject their guests to a rude ending doesn’t really help their cause in the long run. Then again, the massai aren’t known for being good business people.
Neither the Maasai village, boat/nature walk or balloon excursions had anything to do with Wild Adventures. They just dropped us off at those places if we wanted to do those excursions and we paid those places without Wild Adventures being a middleman.
We did the balloon ride over Amboselli which lasted about 1.25 hours at $450 per person. It was ok, but we didn’t see too many animals and the view of mt Kilimanjaro was not much different from 500 feet up. Personally I thought the balloon went too high because the few animals we saw were too small and far away. I’d rather see animals from just above tree height, which I’m told is the case at the massai Mara balloon ride.
We upgraded to the Sentrim chain lodgings and they were clean and comfortable. They consist of single rustic bungalow buildings. The food was buffet style and tasty with a decent variety. I did get an upset stomach but neither my two family members nor David did so go figure. Wild Adventures provided ample water during the game drives and the lodgings put a 500 ml bottle for each guest in the room, which we used to brush our teeth as tap is not completely potable.
One of the sentrim properties only had electricity available from 5-7 am and 6-10 pm so overnight charging wasn’t available. Not all sentrim properties had outlets compatible with US plugs so we still needed our adapters sometimes. All the lodgings had hot showers and flushing toilets.
We highly recommend using Explorers wild Adventures as they are a professionally run operation geared to high client satisfaction.

Unique experience - thanks to Explorers Wild Adventures!
Our safari with Explorers Wild Adventures was a unique experience. The coordination in the planning was excellent, Johann suggested a great tour for us and responded specifically to our plans by organizing a train ticket to Mombasa with a shuttle to our beach hotel afterwards. Even before departure, we were able to assure ourselves once again that we had made a good choice: at the counter I noticed that I had forgotten to apply for the eTA. What normally takes up to 3 days was accelerated to 1.5 hours by Johann and his visa team with good contacts, so that we were still able to make our flight - thanks again for that!
When we arrived at the airport in Nairobi, Bernard welcomed us and accompanied us for the 6 day tour through the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli Park. On the drive through the country he told us a lot about life and culture in Kenya and we got along brilliantly. He has often demonstrated his driving skills on the slopes and thanks to his friendly nature and good networking with locals and other drivers, he has always been able to offer us the best experiences. The entire animal world: lions and elephants that passed directly in front of the van, rhinos, hippos... but also the impressive flora, Bernard always knew the answers to our questions thanks to his many years of experience.
We also really liked the selection of lodges. We would like to highlight the “Mara Empiris” which gave us a very familiar welcome and impressed us with typical local dishes. We visited the Masai village with the Masai "Moniku", who works in the Lodge, and were able to get an idea of traditional life there.
In short: we couldn't have asked for a better guide than Bernard, who grew on us with his always friendly and open nature, and we couldn't have imagined a better company than Explorers Wild Adventures, whose team fulfilled all of our wishes.

Highly recommend
Our daughter, 1.5years old , came with us in this amazing adventure. She had so much fun with the giraffes, elephants, zebras, the lions, etc... everything was very safe, including the optional boat ride for seeing hippos.
Our adventure had many highlights, but one of them was definitely our guide . Mr Jeoffrey was super kind with our baby and with our needs. We have stopped to get diapers almond the way and we were also given family accomodation in all Locations. There was always enough of sleep and enough of adventure.
We definitely recommend this tour. For us with a little child 6 days of adventure are enough. In addition to this experience, we have also spent 1 day in Nairobi (national park, giraffes, baby elephants) and additional 5 days in Mombasa. The train connection was very easy and comfortable.
Overall the the habitants of Kenya are some of the most friendly people out there.
Definitely a must in the journey for discovering Africa!

Amazing!! Amazing!!
This trip was seamless from planning it to the return home. I went on a similar trip 25 years ago and thought nothing could beat that trip. I couldn’t believe how much this one did. Zachary was a phenomenal driver, animal spotter, educator and professional. We saw the Big 5 by day 2! He met every need, exceeded all expectations and made this trip a memory of a lifetime! I will recommend this company to anyone who wants an amazing experience and trip they will never forget. Not one thing I would do differently. Thank you for making this so special!

Amazing Experience
I booked this trip with Explorers Wild Adventures based on their positive Internet reviews. After all, that is all we can rely on as travelers unless we know the company. The communications pre-booking and pre trip were great. All questions were answered timely. When we arrived in Kenya, we were met by the company representative, Joseph. He was on time, spoke good English and very professional. He introduced us to our guide, David, who would be with us the entire week. This was a private safari for my 13 year old and myself. David was very accommodating, professional, punctual. His English was good and he was very knowledgable about Kenya and the wildlife we saw. He always looked out for our safety and comfort. It was an amazing week and worth every penny.

Johann is honest, reliable, knowledgeable and responsive.
Never been to Africa? No worries! You are in great hands with this tour company!! This was a trip of a lifetime! Explorer’s Wild Adventures delivered in every possible way. David was our guide and from the moment he picked us up at our hotel the adventure began. One of the very first things he told us was to feel free to ask him about anything- culture, people, politics, education, history- in addition to any questions we might have about the places we would visit and the animals we would see. He was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned so much about Kenya- in addition to detailed information on every animal, bird and plant we encountered on the tour. We selected to take the private option- which was well worth the money as we were able to move freely around the Landcruiser and see animals on both sides of the vehicle. We were also able to make requests, which David happily complied with, during our tour. Each accommodation was more beautiful than the one before it. I’ve watched safari shows on tv (Safari Brothers on Nat Geo) and our experience with David beat every episode! We saw every animal except the leopard and the elusive black rhino at distances of less than 10-15 feet. We had to put the binoculars down because we were too close to need them!! The only thing that we would do differently is NOT book the Lake boat ride- it was $50.00 (USD) per person and the boat was barely more than a very old, wide canoe. It ended up being about 15-20 minutes on the lake and then a walk where we saw animals that we had already seen due to David’s expertise. That excursion should be no more than $20.00 (USD) pp AT MOST. It was the only disappointment of our trip. We recommend this tour company and our guide, David, to everyone! Our children are already looking into booking their own trips!!

The tour operator brings us a vibrant life and scenery of Kenya in an efficient way.
Explorers Wild Adventures is such a good travel agency and George is such a good tour guide. Together they bring a marvelous animal watching trip of Kenya to us.
Explorers Wild Adventures first replied to our request and designed the trip exactly as what we need. The overall experience is beyond our expectations. They have a good taste in terms of hotel options. They responded quickly when emergency appears. They assigned Mr George as our tour guide. Mr George is very experienced and responsible. He drove skillfully under complex road conditions like in National Parks. He knew where to see the must-see animals and shared his knowledge about different animals. His trip was very efficient that he could drive less hours than those young drivers but brought us to more amazing animal-watching experience and also all of us could spend more time to rest and to enjoy the beautiful view from the hotels. We highly recommended Mr George to be your tour guide.
