delivers excellent value for safari trips
5/5

Ancient routes know very well how to organise safaris. They look at your budget and can then decide which package fits you best. Charles is a very friendly person and a good tour guide. We had the chance to do the safari with a nice jeep and a very experienced tour guide who helped us spotting alm the best animals of the parcs.
The overnight sleeping in the terrirtory of the lions was also a very nice experience. Serengeti and Gorongora are two amazing parcs to visit. Ancient tours is a good organisation.

Amazing Safari & Zanzibar Adventure In Tanzania!
5/5

Our group (15 adults and a precocious 4-year-old) spent roughly 10 days on the northern safari circuit (North and South Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire) followed by 4 days in Zanzibar organized by Tanganyika Ancient Routes Ltd.

True to their company’s motto (Travel… Learn… Serve), CEO Charles Mpanda and his team provided exceptional service and genuine, warm hospitality in taking care of the safety, well being and comfort of our group throughout our trip. Every aspect of our trip (travel logistics, accommodation, meals etc.) was carefully planned to ensure that we have the best opportunities to experience the beauty and wonders of the Serengeti and Zanzibar and to learn the local and Maasai culture.

Charles and his team know the Serengeti very well and they are highly skilled in tracking and spotting the wildlife. They would patiently drive us around, making sure to stop where we have the best vantage points and optimal light to take photographs of the animals and whichever scenes that appealed to our eyes. We were able to witness the most spectacular wildebeest crossings at Mara River and got to meet the Big 5 and more within the first couple of days of the trip and managed to take plenty of the famous sunrise and sunset scenes of the Serengeti.

Meal times were always fun as the group caught up with each other on the highlights of their day and shared photos. Food was always good and there were plenty to eat. Dinners were usually followed by drinks and honest conversations around the campfires under the starry African sky.

Zanzibar was a refreshing change of scenery after 10 days of safari. We spent a delightful day walking around the quaint and historic Stone Town, go on the spice tour, eat with the locals at the night food bazaar and local restaurants (I love the grilled octopus and king fish with piri piri sauce!) and relaxing by the captivating azure blue sea and sandy white beach of northern Zanzibar.

We are grateful to Charles and his team for working tirelessly to help us create such wonderful lifetime memories of our trip, and for sharing with us the beauty of their country and the warmth of their people.

amazing, best operator in the arusha area
5/5

Charles is an amazing guy and he knows how to make a good program for everybody based on their needs. He knows how to make good combinations depending on your budget. If you are looking for a full option safari of multiple days without taking care of logistics then Charles his company is the place to be.
We slept in the safari park in the lions area and that was amazing, the staff ther was amazing too. We also slept in a more luxury place and that was nice too. The driver of Charles are also very entertaining and very proffessional. I’m very sure without these drivers and the good jeep we would have not spotted all the animals we saw.
Gorongoro and Serengeti are defintely the best safari parcs of Africa and Charles his company is a good option for an excellent journey. Be aware that good safaris in Africa are expensive but they are worth doing it. I did a low budget one once and the experiznce is not the same.
Keep going Charles!

An amazing safari experience
5/5

Charles and his team are fantastic. I have been on safaris with other companies, but none compare to Tanganyika Ancient Routes. Everyone is very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The vehicles are comfortable and reliable and the accommodations are as luxurious as you wish. Most importantly, they seem to know all the other drivers and guides which means that they always know where the animals are. So, you can spend more time viewing the amazing game and less time bouncing around searching for them! I will definitely be back and highly recommend them to all my friends.

My first Safari
5/5

This was my first experience doing Safari. I was absolutely blown away. Charles and his crew took care of everything. I felt that if there was anything to see on my trip... I saw it. Tanganyika Ancient Routes made everything comfortable and easy. I and my trip companions wanted for nothing while on our adventure. There is so much knowledge with this group that anything we saw or threw at them they were able to explain clearly so we could learn everything we could. I have been home just a few days, but I have let everyone I talked that they need to call and schedule a safari with Tanganyika Ancient Routes Ltd.

Outstanding experience that fulfilled my expectations
5/5

My safari tour was an amazing experience. We saw every type of animal and so many newborn babies. Our guide made sure that we were in close proximity to all the animals and we usually had the "prime spot" in front of all the other jeeps. Our photo opportunities were right on and our pictures looked like they came from National Geographic because we were able to get so close. Each day was filled and on time. The lunches were very good and more than satisfying. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who was looking for a first class safari with an extremely knowledgeable guide.

Great personalized experience!
5/5

We were referred to Charles by a friend and had a great experience! It was our first safari and he made a personalized itinerary for the two of us. He helped with booking flights, lodging, and there were no glitches the entire trip. He has extensive knowledge of the country, culture, animals, and wildlife. Plus, he has so many connections with other guides that we easily saw The Big 5! Would definitely recommend Tanganyika if you're looking for very personalized services and have an interest in understanding more about the beautiful wildlife you're experiencing.

My first trip to Tanzania won't be my last!
5/5

Among the many things I am grateful for with my recent trip to Tanzania is the good fortune of working with Tanganyika Ancient Routes. Pam and Charles helped us to plan an amazing itinerary that exceeded expectations in every area. We started in Arusha and traveled to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongo, Serengeti, Lushoto, Saadani, and Zanzibar. Each is uniquely special.

We were met at the airport by Charles and the two drivers who would quickly become our friends. That was the beginning of their care taking of our group which lasted to our final day. We arrived as a group of 10, but quickly considered ourselves a group of 13. Each day was a new and special adventure we shared together.

Of course, you go to Africa to see the wildlife. You would not be able to find more skilled guides/drivers than Charles, Zebe and Charlie who were also our teachers during the trip. They made sure we saw everything possible and learned about what we were seeing. We were lucky to be able to cross the big 5 off our list, as well as dozens of other species.

The accommodations were wonderful. Staying in the tent camps in the various parks is a must experience. The tents are very comfortable (even have bathrooms!) and keep you close to the action you traveled all this way to experience.

The food was outstanding. Everything was fresh and delicious. If you go as part of a group as we did, the meals are enriched by the opportunity to talk about what you experienced that day, are planning for another day, or a bit of history. This made meals a very special part of each day. The guys graciously continued to answer our many questions and tell us fascinating stories at the many tables we enjoyed during our trip.

The vehicles were very comfortable. Not only did they get us safely from place to place, they gave us a comfortable spot from which to view the animals and scenery. We had two flights within Tanzania and they were wonderful.

I am an experienced traveler and have visited far off lands before, but this was my first time in Africa. I loved Tanzania and hope to visit again in the future. I will certainly work with Tanganyika Ancient Routes again. I highly recommend their services to you.

Tour of a Lifetime
5/5

An African safari was always on my bucket list, especially visiting the world renowned Serengeti. Tanganyika Ancients Routes took this expedition beyond my wildest expectations. The accommodations were comfortable with excellent food. We also got to see copious wildlife in their natural habitat. We saw the Big 5 and all the animals indigenous to Tanzania. Our tour guides were blessed with wonderful eyes and great knowledge of the geography and animals’ behaviors. We were constantly taught something and we left with a huge bank of new knowledge.

I was really impressed with the flexibility of Charle’s team. Each tour was tailored to fulfill our wishes. We had a total party of ten and we were all kept happy. Our tour guides were like family and we have made friends for life. Although they were professional, we were treated like friends rather than clients. We felt safe at all times. My favorite experience was watching the sunset on the Serengeti with the lions some hundred yards in the background. There were many sights and scenes that will stay with you for a lifetime. I highly recommend Tanganyika Ancient Routes without reservation.

Our experience was way beyond our expectations especially the hands on service that Charles provides
5/5

Charles and his crew saw to it that every details was taken care of long before our arrival at the camps. The tour itself, we were told, has to include some luck for animal sightings. But at every park our guides knew exactly where to go to get to view the animals. The guides were so knowledgeable about everything from plants and trees to birds to animals. The accommodations that Charles booked were outstanding. The food that was prepared was always fresh and the chefs planned meals were always great combinations. Also the service was better than most hotels in the US provide.
