Unscripted Safaris pulled off our dream trip!
Just came back from an 8 day Taste of Kenya Safari. We are extremely happy with Unscripted Safaris. They selected great accommodations even though we booked our trip late during the high season. They also helped me plan a secret engagement proposal (she said yes ☺️). Shootout to our guide Jeremy and our coordinator Lewis. Jeremy was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and his country. Lewis was very flexible and helpful planning a last minute safari. Together, they made our dream trip come true.
I will definitely be recommending Unscripted to all of my friends and family considering a safaris.

Daniel was a better guide than I could have asked for - kind, patient, attentive, and well informed.
I am very glad we went with unscripted safaris over any other company. Another travel agency was sending us recommendations that were over $500 more expensive without getting the same level of luxury or number of game drives. Lewis, the agent with unscripted safaris, gave us all the info we needed to be able to commit within 2 days - as opposed to other agencies that took weeks to get back to us with answers and updated information. Thanks Lewis for being so diligent to check dates and details with us.
Unscripted Safaris set us up with Ashnil Calp which was a lovely location right by the river so you could see and hear the hippos daily. Daniel was the best guide possible - he planned routes according to what we wanted to do and see. We could constantly see his eyes, through the rear view mirrors, looking left and right for signs of wildlife so he could get us the best visuals on safari. We even had a leapord chase which was extraordinary - Daniel’s skill and patience allowed him to track a leapord on the hunt so we could watch its every step. I would come back in a heartbeat if I could. Thank you Unscripted Safaris, Ashnil, Daniel, and Lewis.
Very bad experience
In general, terrible organization. Only after we paid the deposit they told us that the chosen structure was not available and they proposed a tented camp far from the luxury we had paid for. The guide was terrible

Fantastic safaritrip in wonderful Kenya - an unrivaled experience
Unscripted Safaris (Lewis Mungo) provides excellent service and combine their know-how with our wishes and suggestions. We booked really late but Lewis still found us a mix of mid range and luxury lodges in all of the parks.
Our guide Jeremy was a lucky match with our family. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a deep respect for nature.
To everyone who has Kenya on their bucket list: do it ! you won't regret.
To everyone who decides to go : book through Unscripted ! you won't regret.
Thanks Unscripted team, for your dedication to the job, to nature, to the customer.

Standard safari with some annoyances
Overall, the safari seems to follow a standard itinerary that many other companies also offer. We did see a lot of animals including the Big 5 and in that sense the safari was great. I only give 2 stars because of some annoyances:
1) My wife is short and wasn't able to see out of the pop up roof of the Landcruiser (for which you pay extra). She wanted to stand on top of a seat when we were looking at a cheetah that was barely visible (covered by grass) but was told by our driver that that is not allowed because it can damage them and that it's his boss Lewis' rule, with whom we had made the booking. I then wrote to Lewis and he told me it's not allowed because it's illegal and fined heavily by the park authorities. We saw many other safari companies allowing their customers to stand on their seat. So I then looked up the park rules online and it didn't say anything about it being illegal. Lewis doubled down and told me to ask a park official at the gate. I did just that (he probably didn't expect me to) and they told me, amused that I'd even ask, that it's perfectly legal and makes sense for short people. Nevertheless, we decided to let it rest, until my wife got neck pain two days later from always craning it while tip toing to be able to see. At that point I again wrote to Lewis pleading that he allows it for the last two days and he finally did. However, he never admitted that he lied about it being illegal. TLDR: if you're short find a different safari company
2) Our flight on the last day was quite late at 11pm. The original itinerary had us be at the airport around 5pm after visiting the giraffe center at 3pm. Before booking, I had asked Lewis about adding extra things in Nairobi and he told me that we can also visit the Nairobi museum and eat at a famous restaurant and then be dropped off at the airport at 7pm which sounded good to us. Then, on the last day our driver told us that he has to keep going immediately after arriving with us in Nairobi but that a different driver from the company can take us. However, after talking with his Boss there apparently was no different driver available. Our driver rushed us through the giraffe center (urging us to leave) and then dropped us of at the airport at 4:15 pm. We were okay with skipping the museum and the restaurant because we were tired and saw how stressed the driver was, but we didn't appreciate being rushed through the giraffe center which was supposed to be a nice stop on the last day and then bring dropped off at the airport super early.
A couple words on our driver/guide Daniel: he definitely knows the parks inside and out and is a good driver and very good at finding many animals. He also knows a lot about the animals when asked. However, I wish he would be more outgoing in sharing information about animals without us asking. And I wish he would be a bit friendlier and above all not rush us so much on the last day.

Amazing safari experience
My husband and I booked our 6 day safari honeymoon with Unscripted Safaris. Our driver Daniel was amazing and he went above and beyond to ensure we saw all big 5 (which we did!) and as many animals as possible! We had an amazing time and all the lodges and safari camp booked were incredible! Thank you to Daniel for making our trip amazing and Lewis for all the back office support (and my million questions)

Daniel was the best guide I've had on any trip, ever!
Three friends and I booked a safari and got the recommendation for Unscripted Safaris by another friend who went recently. The process of booking was pretty straightforward, and the price was better than what we could find elsewhere. The actual experience was even better than what we could have hoped for! It was our first safari, and it was an experience that will be hard to beat! Daniel, our guide, was so incredible, knowledgeable, kind and considerate. There aren't enough words to describe how fantastic he was, and over the two days and multiple game drives we developed such a great connection with him. We saw four of the "big five" animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards and. WOW! I cannot recommend Unscripted Safaris and Daniel more.

Kind, attentive, knowledgeable, sharp
Our trip to the Masai Mara early September. We picked this destination for the safari so we can see the migration. Daniel picked us up after a short flight from Nairobi. He is a very kind, attentive and knowledgeable guide. We had many questions about the animals, vegetation and geography of the Masai Mara. He was able to explain it all and kept emphasizing something important not to forget. that its their (the wildlife) territory we are in.
For the camp, we stayed at Ashnil. It’s a very nice camp with great glamping accommodations and food. Very friendly staff.
After 20 minutes into the Mara, Daniel was able to spot a lion family. There were rangers that were protecting the lion family who were napping after a kill. We got to see the carcass of the kill and at least 5 lions and cubs in a bush. They were peacefully sleeping. We couldn’t ask for a better start. In the afternoon we drove around a lot, spotting warthogs, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, impalas, and more. In an unexpected turn there was a sleeping leopard in a small ravine. It was an unreal introduction to our safari.
On the day after our game drive continued and Daniel spotted at least three more lion groups. This is when we realized what a great guide he is, his ability to spot and know the Mara so well. He was talking us through his knowledge of the animals and their behavior. We learned so much. He was able to spot another leopard, which is very unique to be able to spot this many on one safari trip. The leopard was alone and walking through the tall grass. We visited the river too on this day to see the hippos and crocodiles.
All in all, words can’t describe the feeling to be in the habitat of the wildlife and observe them. I highly recommend booking your safari with Unscripted Safari. Lewis is great at walking you through the itinerary and quote. And ask for Daniel as your guide!
