I had an amazing experience with Jemu Expeditions. I went to Kenya to volunteer at a wildlife conservancy and was hesitant about also going on a safari since I was traveling alone, but after meeting James, I realized that not only would I be extremely safe, but also would be so lucky to go with a true expert and lover of wildlife. James was a ranger for many years, so he's not only a wildlife expert, but he's also a conscious traveler. Every hotel and resort we stayed at, he made sure it was sustainably managed. He loves animals, wildlife, Kenya, and safaris, and he's such a great caretaker of his guests. I would recommend anyone and everyone to safari and travel with James and Jemu Expeditions, wether you go alone or in a big group. I had an AMAZING and life-changing experience, and I hope everyone gets a chance to travel with Jemu!

James is one of the best tour guides you'll want on the African Savannah! Since he grew up and is a local, he knows the area better than any regular travel broker or travel agent. He also has insights that are specific to the diversity of this ecosystem and knowledge of animals, their behavior, and habitat.

Exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime safari with a professional guide
I spent a week on safari with James in Kenya - traveling across Nairobi, Samburu, Laikipia and Loisaba. James is a fantastic guide and even in between game drives, he really impressed me with his wealth of knowledge and friendly demeanour. Overall Jemu Expeditions was fantastic in every detail - the landcruisers, the transfers, the communication, the knowledge, and above all, the level of professionalism and care for myself, and no doubt every other client they book trips for.

The best travel experience ever! I Sh!t you not!
For a family that has been to Africa on a few occasions, Epic, unbelievable, flexible, awesome, and adventurous are all words that fall well short of the experiences both us and our daughter had with James and Jemu Mwenda Expeditions.
Our itinerary was put together over about a six month period because we had planned on such a long holiday (56 days). Our itinerary changed on the ground as we took part in some incredible experiences, James and the team made these changes seem less and without trouble. The question is not who should we travel with in Africa, but when can we travel next! Can not recommend Jemu enough.

From the beginning with the itinerary conception and follow up with Margaret, all our wishes have been Taken into account. Contacts were smooth as well as the flexibility to change plans.
Everything was perfectly organized, greetings, meeting points, lodges, parcs, activities. We had absolutely no worries.
Then, Jemu, our guide was the cherry on the cake. So easy going, smiling all the Time, so knowledgeable, flexible, he answered all our questions.
We learnt so much from him And Saw all thé wildlife we wanted to sée ( and more) thanks to his bushman knowledge. Hé triés very hard to make his guests feel confortable.

Fantastic Life Time Experience
We've always wanted to travel to Kenya and when we saw James's posts on Instagram we felt an immediate connection. He is very environmentally conscious, respectful of nature and animals which was very important to us in a safari guide. We emailed James and started planning our trip. We gave him a list of conservancies we wanted to see and he made sure we saw everything on our list and much more, including visiting a Samburu community.
Traveling with James was an experience we will never forget. We saw amazing wildlife. The Kenyan people are very friendly and welcoming. James and his assistant responded quickly to our emails and took care of all the details involved in planning this trip.
We are planning to travel again with Jemu Expeditons in 2025. There is so much more of Kenya that we want to see.

The most patient, thorough, kind, and attentive man to plan my bucket list trip.
An African safari was #1 bucket list for me. I've been manifesting it for 14 years. Late nights, frugal living, and multiple jobs made it happen. In 2022, I read an article in Travel + Leisure about traveling with a purpose. It featured Jemu Expeditions and his amazing efforts at rhino conservation. With Travel + Leisure, you cannot buy positive press... if they have featured your company, it's because you deserve the recognition. They don't allow any bribes or financial encouragement; the publicity has to be earned. I reached out to James after reading the article, curious as to how to go on safari but also help the cause. For 2 years, this patient man, James Mwenda, helped me curate a unique (surprise for my husband) experience. He led me through all the intricacies of traveling to Kenya, from start to finish. To say we had an adventure is true. But, none of it would be possible without James and his team. They showed us the best time on an intimate trip to one of the most beautiful countries we have ever seen. Thank you, Jemu, George, and Josephine for all your hospitality.
This was well worth the money we paid and was truly tailored to us. The communication with the entire team is outstanding and we're already contemplating yet another trip.

Jemu Expeditions were so great in helping us plan our trip. While it was short, they made sure we maximised the days we had. They were also flexible with pick-up and drop-off locations which made for a seamless experience. Our guide, George, was so friendly and attentive, his knowledge of East African animals is endless - we learnt so much!
