Customer oriented tour operator
Lilly helped us to organize a 13 day self drive along Namibia letting us discover and visit the most famous place of this amazing country.
The cars we had were well equipped and well maintained.
Lilly helped us to solve some problems we have at the last minute communicating with her in a very simple way. I can not give 5 stars ( this make also the review more realistic)because one of my request has been not realized, I asked to organized a night in a private reserve where predators are present (was my dream), unfortunately the location selected (new) was in an wonderful place but empty of animals. Lilly tried to help to solve the problem but was too late. BTW is a trustable agency that works in a good way.

Namibia 2024 Tour: Thank you so much Great Explorations for attending to all our reservations for us, (apart from Luderitz & Solitaire) . We did a self-drive budget tour which was great. However, thumbs up, Namibia is not a cheap country to visit, as a South African.
* Hobas Campsite, Fish River Canyon - Campsite stands were not clearly marked out, & very dusty. (Because of no markings, we had 2 German tourists camping on our stand!) Personally, campsite costly & disappointing, albeit in close proximity to the Fish River Canyon. This was not our 1st option, regretfully, Canyon Roadhouse our first choice was fully booked.
*Aus Haven & Rest Camp - Absolutely wonderful with beautiful private ablution. Highly recommended.
* Shark Island, Luderitz - Own Arrangement - what a mistake! Luderitz is so windy that you cannot camp despite the campsite being beautiful. We were saddened that we were not advised, prior to booking and paying directly about the howling winds. Had we known this, we would never have camped. After the 1st night we packed up and left.
*Duwisib Guestfarm - Fantastic - lovely campsite overlooking the Duwisib castle with such peace and quietness. Only 1 stand has electricity.
*Jansen Kalahari Guest farm campsite - Disappointing. Very sandy campsite (no paving nor grass anywhere), ablutions not great - unpaved walking to & from ablutions.
*Elegant Desert Camp, Sossusvlei - Beautiful campsite with lovely ablutions. Winds are difficult to navigate.
*Lagoon Chalets & Caravan Park, Walvis Bay - Very nice indeed. Stunning & modern ablutions with laundromat.
*Alte Brucke Campsite, Swakopmund - A gem. Beautiful grassed stands with private ablutions.
*Daureb Isib Campsite, Uis - Very pleasant with own private ablution.
*Elisenheim Guestfarm, Windhoek- Disappointing so did not camp there despite paying. Found new campsite at Urban Camp which was absolutely amazing.
*The White House, Gruanau - Disappointing
*Amanzi River Trail Campsite, Noordoewer - Superb. Fantastic huge, grassed stands overlooking the Orange River. Tranquility at its best. Pleasant ablutions & very friendly owners.

Lilly will personally tailor a trip of a lifetime for you and your fellow travelers. All of her recommendations were great and the accommodation we stayed in, the cars we hired, the activities we experienced were great. Lilly personally met us in Windhoek and had had great packs provided to us which included route maps, vouchers, personalised itineraries, directions on how to drive to all the places and what we would see along the way. It made for a very stress free trip.

Friendly, Knowledgeable, and Reliable
This was our first trip to Africa. We were very pleased with the support we received from Great Explorations, esp. Lilly. Not only did she help us put together a great itinerary but provided us with alternatives when our first choice wasn't available. In fact, we feel like the alternatives were even better than the original choices. We also pre-booked excursions in each location with Lilly's assistance, which helped us optimize the time we had. When our son became ill and we needed to make changes at short notice, Lilly was available after hours and worked out a solution for us. Finally, we very much appreciated working with Lilly's rental car partner, Classic Car Rental. I cannot overemphasize how important it is to have a reliable, well-maintained car on the Namibian roads. Great Explorations, Lilly and her team get 5-stars and two thumbs up from us. Great tour operator for Namibia self drive safaris
Lilly did an excellent job choosing good options of Hotels and was very organized providing clear instructions of the itinerary including important tips of everything that is important to know during the trip. This was our 4th visit to Namibia and we had a wonderful 15 days visiting the Cheetah Conservation Centre , Damaraland and Twyfelfontein , the Skeleton Coast , Etosha NP , and Swakopmund .
Great Explorations provided the very best service in terms of customer information pack , briefing , personal support in terms of booking restaurants, accomodation and guided activities demonstrating their intimate knowledge of the country and tourism contacts . We always seem to have the very best positions in terms of bush chalet/tented accomodation and restaurant table reservations . The vehicle was the best we have hired in Africa and the support briefing was comprehensive in case of breakdown , punctures etc albeit we had no problems whatsoever with the vehicle [Toyota Hillux ]
This was our best trip to Namibia for wildlife with Etosha and Damaraland providing incredible sightings of everything we would have hoped for[Lions ,Cheetahs , leopards , Desert Elephants ,Black Rhino particularly at the floodlit waterholes in the National Park , and whales at Walvis Bay ]
All accomodation was booked by Great Explorations and all ranged from good to excellent . People of Namibia were as always friendly , providing great service and very often displaying amazing multi-language skills even in the remotest of places
