We went on a 3-day safari tour to lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Tarangire and we saw so many beautiful animals (hippo, lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes and many more). It was absolutely incredible. Had an amazing time!

Great safari in Mikumi national park!
5/5

We were on a one-day safari to Mikumi national park. We were picked up at our hotel in Stonetown at 5 am, and the flight was at 6:30.
The 1 hour flight itself was a great experience; a 14 seat propeller. The pilot fly in to the park at low heights so that we could see herds of zebras and giraffes!

At the airfield we were met by our guide and the safari started at the airfield. We were 7 people in the open car and we drove around the park for 4-5 hours watching the animals, birds and plants. We saw all the listed animals (except the leopard), and the highlight was when 5 lions came and lie down 1 meter from our car! We watched them for 30 minutes.

We had the lunch buffet (they had cold beers for sale!) before our flight departed at 2 PM.

Highly recommended!

Strongly recommend and have just a suggestion
5/5

If you want a detailed review, here it is.
We booked the Mikumi National Park 1-day safari from and back to Zanzibar.

We booked online via safari tours, and after submitting our request, we were contacted by Salimu via WhatsApp. He was always very fast in responding and helpful.

Our booking included pick up at the hotel we were staying, flight from Zanzibar to Mikumi, Game drive, lunch, flight back, and drop off at the hotel. We got everything that was agreed on.

Overall, I strongly recommend the experience. There are just a few details that could have been better.

The driver was supposed to pick us up at the hotel at 4.40 AM and when we walked out, he was already there waiting for us. Arriving to the airport, the driver walked with us to the meeting place (that we didn’t know about, but the driver did so we just followed him). There, we were “dropped off” at a café. Someone from the Salimu’s team came up to us, we checked our names on a list, paid by card, no problems.

We flew in a very small and quite old airplane for 13 people. I was extremely afraid BUT I must say that I am afraid of flying in small planes and a bit claustrophobic. The plane was extremely small, but I was positively surprised. Pilot did amazing. The landing is in the middle of the park and the game drivers are already there waiting. There are toilets in the air strip.

Our ride was with Patrick (guide). He was very nice, engaging on questions, and did a good job “searching” for our wishes.
We saw lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, hippos, crocodiles, monkeys, many different birds, everything.

Around 12 we stopped to eat lunch, and you can eat inside a facility or outside under some trees. There is also a few cottages in the same area, so again toilets and some infrastructure.

Lunch was delicious. Nothing to complain.

We drove a bit more and back to the airplane. We flew back in the same plane with the same pilot, again did a great job.

Zanzibar airport is quite chaotic, and the other people from the same tour had maybe different agreements or booked through different agents, but me and my husband were a bit lost on how to go back to the hotel. There was nobody from Salimu’s team to meet us and say “here it is your ride back to the hotel”.

We just found the taxi drivers that were waiting for passengers, so we decided to walk back to the Café that we met the Tour guys in the morning, or pick up a taxi by ourselves. At the Cafe, there was a lady that I asked about if there were anyone from Salimu’s team, or his agency. She said she would call him (she wasn’t very happy to help but did anyway) and quickly our driver came to find us, didn’t take more than 5 minutes. So, no problem coming home again.

Here is my only complaint/suggestion:
We felt a bit lost on how things would go because we had the feeling that the tourism agency would have someone to gather us and to give us direction when we landed. It might sound silly but it would give us more confidence and understanding of what is going on if we are informed before hand on how things unfold, instead of learning while they are happening.

Christmas Day safari
5/5

I booked with African safari tours for a Christmas Day safari. Salimu was great everything was well organised and he was quick to respond via WhatsApp for any questions or confirmations I had.

On the day I was picked up from my hotel, dropped at the airport where I was met by one of Salimu’s team. Then we were escorted to the plane.

The pilot was so good take off and landing was very smooth and journey took around 1 hour 10 minutes.

When we arrived we were put in an English speaking group with an English speaking guide. Our group was such a nice group of people we all got on well and had so much fun : )

We saw all animals including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impala’s, baboons, hippos and more.

We then had a nice lunch then went back out to see the animals again before returning to the plane to fly back to Zanzibar.

It was such a memorable experience

Thank you so much : )

Best safari package in a short notice!
5/5

Salimu was extremely responsive with all the communication and thoughrally answered all our questions regarding the safari. He organized all the necessary transfers and flights from Zanzibar to the Safari tour and back. Plus a very warm welcome during the arrival day.

Our Safari driver Frank was very skilled and had a knack of finding all the rare game for us with the best views. We enjoyed our 4-day game drive in Terengire National Park, Ngorongoro conservation area, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater National Park. We saw a lot of elephants, giraffes, lions, ostriches, zebras, buffalos, gasells, wildebeests, hyenas, hippos and many more. We were also able to spot several Rhinos, few cheetahs and even 2 leopards!

We believe we had the best accomodation available with the short notice around the new years eve - there was one downgrade to regular tent due to unavailability but the facilities at the Simba A campsite in Ngorongoro were in very good condition with hot showers. Just make sure you are a camper type of a person and take warm clothes with you.
We thoughrally enjoyed our stay in Moyo Luxury Camp in Serengeti - wish we could have stayed there even longer.
The food by our cooks was average but fulfilling.

Overall we were very happy with our Safari and give strong recommendations for the operator.

Reliable tour operator for a safari trip
5/5

What we booked: 10-day shared safari trip with mid-range accommodation (we were two people)
Communication: Salimu was my main point of contact from the start, he provided detailed itinerary and details on all accomodations. We have not seen him after the first day, but he was accessible via Whatsapp and responded very quickly to any questions. Friendly, good English, straightforward communication, he even gifted us a cake for our honeymoon! On the downside, I had to chase him daily to get the time to start and other details for the next day, and he told us a wrong time of pick up for the first day (6.30am instead of 8.30am) meaning that we didn't get enough of much needed rest after a long flight. Other people were guides and drivers, mostly outsourced because it was a 'shared' trip, some better than the others but ok on average.
Service: A couple of times we started safari rather late in the morning (11am), giving us lower chance to see animals, and it was mainly because of bad organization around provisions of water, lunch food and other supplies. Also the driver/guide for the main parks was not much talkative so 'guiding' part of his job was definitely weak. Otherwise the service was as expected.
Tour itself: we happened to visit Serengeti right after a storm and experienced a fair amount of rain in general. Spotting animals in lush green and after rain is harder and we ended up not seeing lepards and a rhino only far away, which is unfortunate, but somewhat expected with the season. We saw a cheetah, plenty of lions, elephants and other animals which was nice. The large parks are touristy even during the wet season, so expect multiple jeeps lined up to observe one anamal - you get a feeling of a zoo, only that the cages are not there. We had the last few days of 'cultural' safari where we visited different tribes to observe their way of life - this was my favorite part! It felt way less touristy and rather authentic, we also had a couple of good guides for those days who were knowledgeable and with the bachground from those tribes, so we could learn a lot.

Enjoyed every minute
5/5

Salimu from safari tours africa arranged our safari. We worked a best route and accomodation for our stay and he made a good deal for us. The stay in serengeti was very enjoyable as you are staying literally with the wild life. The serengeti rest house was clean, large enough, comfatable bed, good dinner and breakfast.
We went to ngorongoro afterwards and amazing greenery, wild life, great experience. We stayed at marera lodge and this is a heaven on earth. Very nice grounds. Elegant large room and excellent service.
Last day was lake manyara, we came very close with elephant, giraffe, zebra, baboon, bushback …..
Our driver guide khalid was excellent, informative, supportive and friendly.
There was internet on the vehicle but reception was not good.
There were water, juice and tisue paper available at the vehicle.
The vehicle was in good condition, no problems.
The tour gave us masai cloth as a present
Overall very good experience
