Super responsive and willing to go the extra mile
Being a family run business, with siblings on the ground in both Tanzania and the UK working together, Massawe offer a truly seamless service. They were available almost 24/7 on WhatsApp to help with any issues from the stage of planning the itinerary to needing to make changes while we were on holiday. Our guide and driver, Temba, was exceptional. He was a very good driver, which made us feel safe during the long drives, which were sometimes on very bumpy and muddy roads. He always had a smile on his face, whether it was at 6am or at the end of a long 12h day. He also had the amazing ability of being able to spot a lion in the long grass hundreds of metres away, all while driving! We also loved his stories of previous safari experiences he had had.

One of my fav trips
I decided to choose Massawe Adventures because all of my questions were answered by Idda with patience. She replied my emails really quick and worked during weekends to check accommodation availability. She was nicer and more understanding than other agencies' managers. She took care of us in every aspects to make sure we have a safe and happy trip. Our trip was amazing and I would say it was one of my fav. Our guide Julius is a decent and caring man. We had a lot of happy conversations with him and he always met our needs. We saw incredible hunting scenes and cute animals just in front of us. He also followed rules to give the animal a peace and undisturbed environment because he loved them from the deep of his heart. (we saw some irresponsible guide went too close to animals when animals were hunting) It was lovely to meet him and he made our Safari memory unforgettable. Thank you Massawe Adventures and I hope more people can know this amazing agency!

Excellent
Massawe, a family-run business with siblings operating both in Tanzania and the UK, truly offers a seamless service. Throughout the planning stages and even during our holiday, they were readily available on WhatsApp, ensuring every detail of our trip was meticulously arranged. Julius, our guide and driver, stood out remarkably. His exceptional driving skills provided a sense of security during our long journeys, navigating through challenging terrain with ease. Julius's infectious smile greeted us at every turn, whether it was at the crack of dawn or after a long 12-hour day exploring. His talent for spotting wildlife, including lions hidden in the tall grass from great distances, was truly remarkable. Furthermore, his captivating stories of previous safari experiences added depth to our journey, making it even more memorable. Massawe's commitment to exceptional service, coupled with Julius's professionalism and warmth, made our holiday in Tanzania an unforgettable experience. We look forward to returning and experiencing more of what Massawe has to offer.

Professional and Caring
Before the journey began, Massawe demonstrated their attentive service by patiently answering every inquiry, easing our apprehensions about the trip. The provision of water and food during the journey was also crucial support for us. Julius, as a safari guide, was extremely professional in spotting animals. He enabled us to see many lions, elephants, and wildebeest migrations, as well as cheetah hunts, among other sights. Additionally, he provided expert commentary on the types and behaviors of animals throughout our journey.

Outstanding: very responsive, terrific guide, superb value, a dream come true!
My wife and I went on a 12-day safari to northern Tanzania with Massawe Adventures in February 2024. Our holiday included 2 to 3 days each in 4 locations: Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Ndutu and Serengeti National Park.
We had several key priorities:
a. to photograph the wildlife we saw, and to spend as long as it took to get “the shot”;
b. to see as many of the key animals as possible, with cheetahs especially important;
c. to see as many birds as possible.
Due to our specific requirements – and in particular our keenness to spend as long as we needed observing and photographing particular animals and birds - we decided not to join a group, but rather for the two of us to travel with our own guide/driver.
Idda, who organised the whole trip for us, was extremely responsive to our requirements: she recommended great safari lodges; made sure that our dietary and other requirements were met; and suggested a perfect itinerary. She chose Temba as our guide because his knowledge and enthusiasm for birds was outstanding. He was an ideal guide: very knowledgeable and informative, a very easygoing and amusing companion, and with a quite uncanny ability to spot animals at great distance, resulting every day in sights we couldn't have have dreamed of spotting without him.
One unforgettable highlight was witnessing a cheetah making a kill. Temba saw it from a considerable distance, and instinctively knew it was about to chase down a small group of Thompson's gazelle. No amount of documentary footage could prepare us for the thrill of seeing this breathtaking creature accelerate so fast the antelopes it was chasing looked like they were strolling in the park! Seconds later it had made a kill, and we were able to see it guarding its kill.
We planned every detail of our trip in close conjunction with Idda, who booked all our accommodation, flights etc. Nothing we requested was too much trouble, down to buying the precise quantity of kidney beans needed to fill our photographic bean bag!
I don't have adequate words to express how wonderful Idda, Temba and Massawe Adventures made this trip: I can't imagine how it could have been bettered, and I would recommend this company in the highest terms if you want to experience the most satisfying safari possible.

Trip of a Lifetime
We have just returned from our 5 day trip to The Serengeti which we followed with a few days in Zanzibar.
We had a few ideas of what we wanted to do and what to expect from our Safari…But nothing prepared us for the most wonderful experience we had.
We were introduced to Massawe Adventures through our Travel Agent and right from the start, Idda was so helpful and professional…anticipating our needs even before we did.
Idda provided us with so much useful information before our trip, and even arranged our entry Visa for us.
When we arrived in Kilimanjaro we were met by our Guide Julius who took us for breakfast and a shower before we started towards Serengeti. As we had a private Safari, Julius made it clear that the trip was about us, and what we wanted, although we were more than happy to take his recommendations. He was constantly looking and very quick to point out animals, birds and interesting sights to our untrained eyes.
Each night we would discuss the plans for the next day, but were happy to adapt these depending on sightings to take us in a different direction. On our first full day Julius found an adult male lion resting under a tree right on the track in front of us less than a metre away! Similarly…he found a Lioness feeding her two cubs on a flat rock. Again, it was just us…a moment we will never forget. Julius’s passion for what he does and the animals he sees is inspiring. He taught us that taking time to wait is so important. Pole Pole! A safari should not be a box ticking exercise, but an honour to spend time with the amazing animals you do see.
My own personal wish was to see a family of elephants and I was not disappointed! Julius found us several groups, some of which just walked past our vehicle. I was impressed that as long as the drivers respect the animals, they will come close.
Our accommodation was a complete surprise. It was 5 star luxury and the care we received was outstanding. All of the staff were so friendly and fun, particularly Rebecca who decorated our lodge to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, no mean feat considering the challenges of being in the middle of the Serengeti. We were very sad to leave.
Thank you so much Idda and Julius for giving us such a wonderful experience. We will be back!

Very efficient and professional in all aspects of the planning and communication.
I was very pleased with the whole tour from the time we started bookings to the end of the tour. Accomodation was excellent in both places we stayed. The food at the hotels and the packed lunches was good and plenty. The staff were friendly and helpful. My highlight was a surprise birthday cake organized by the tour operator! 😁
The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to make sure we saw as much as possible in the three days. I felt I got my money's worth on this trip!
Exceptional and professional!
I enjoyed the whole process of booking and doing a safari with Massawe Adventures! Their professionalism and knowledge was absolutely exceptional.
Idda (our trip organiser) went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable trip. She was very professional and couldn’t thank her enough for all the detailed information and for staying on top of things while planning. She made the whole process go very smoothly.
The places she selected for us to stay were very nice and comfortable. We were able to rest well, had good food and didn’t feel rushed despite having only 3 days to cover Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
The tour guide was friendly, very knowledgable and patient. He explained things well and took us to the best places where we could have close up of the animals. He was able to spot animals which we wouldn’t have been able to notice ourselves.
The trip was truly amazing and our family can’t stop talking about it. It will forever be one of the best trips.
Thank you Massawe Adventures!

Beyond anything we could have imagined, just too perfect and special for words
Our first trip to Africa as a whole and Tanzania specifically; where do we even begin?! From a logistics point of view, it was faultless - whether that was transport being seamless, visas, internal flight details, timings, lodges - everything was perfect. We felt that you were only at the end of the phone if we needed anything, but you are so organised, it wasn't necessary. Moses was just brilliant, as a guide he was and endless font of knowledge, a great driver, friendly and welcoming. On safari, we saw so much more than we had hoped for, and were incredibly lucky to have had such close encounters with countless animals. The accommodation was stunning, each location (Kilimanjaro Golf and Wildlife Estate x 2, Ngorongoro Farmhouse, Lake Burunge Tented Lodge) was different but so special, and absolutely immaculately clean. We loved the 3 National Parks we explored (Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire), and saw very different landscapes and animal interactions in each one. Our 5 days in Zanzibar were so peaceful, Michamvi Sunset Bay was extremely private and enabled us to totally switch off after a very difficult year for both of us, and we are so grateful for that time. We snorkelled, I went diving (Buccaneer Diving - who were also brilliant!), and explored some of the island, but mainly enjoyed the delicious food and drinks on the beach - and got very burnt! I have taken about 1700 photos during our trip, so that says a lot! Our overriding feeling throughout our trip was just of such friendly people who take such pride in their work, it was so lovely. Whether it was how fruit was plated at breakfast, how they learnt what you love to drink, or just the little details when you come to bed each night, the staff were incredible, and we felt so welcome in their country. Without going on and on, we have fallen totally in love with Tanzania, and will absolutely be returning, and this is all down to you!
