Excellent service and committed staff
I’m writing this while on a wind down stay in Zanzibar after a fantastic seven night Tanzanian safari arranged and organised by RO Scavenger Safari.
We had some reservations at first because at the time we booked (May 2024) they had very few reviews online but from our first contact they were very responsive to every question and request we had, Silas was our main point of contact and he never seemed to sleep! Any message was replied to within the hour day or night, and after several days of back and forth with choices of location and budget we had an itinerary we were happy with and as the cherry on the cake all at a competitive price.
We flew into Nairobi and drove to the border where we met our guide and driver for the week Edward who proved to be the perfect man for the job, patient, good humoured, informative and able to position our vehicle perfectly taking all conditions into account and being sensitive to the wildlife. As well as all the usual big game he picked out smaller and more unusual animals such as a python in tree, caracal and abundant bird life.
All our accommodations were as described, the choice of tented camps were perfect with Moyo camp in central Serengeti being a favourite.
Food and drinks while on safari were good and plentiful and I don’t think we could ask for more.
Top tips from us are, don’t underestimate distances as the roads can be “challenging “, pick two or three locations to base yourself at depending on season rather than a different location every night as the travelling can be tiring, do try tented camps, they were extremely comfortable (flushing toilets and hot showers in the middle of the bush) and sitting around a campfire and hearing wild animals outside your tent are things not to be missed.
We were extremely pleased with RO Scavenger, they are a small team who really care about their clients and are preparing to go the extra distance to make sure that you get the best experience and we recommend them without hesitation. Asante san Robert, Silas, Edward and the team.

This is a responsible, efficient, and cost-effective tour operator
Firstly, the itinerary planning is very reasonable, with smooth transitions between each attraction; Secondly, the hotel recommendations are great, with both high-end and mid-range options, keeping the prices of our entire itinerary within our acceptable range.
The most important thing is that the travel agency owner is very patient in communicating the itinerary. There is a five hour time difference between China and Tanzania, and sometimes when we ask in the morning, which is around four or five o'clock in the morning in Tanzania, the owner will reply quickly. This is really great! He always meets our needs and thoughtfully helps us switch from free lunch to hot meals every day.
We are very grateful to our guide Edward for this trip. He is the best guide we have ever seen or heard of, and also a good friend. He is very down-to-earth, patient, and professional. During our Safari process, he showed meticulous care and helped us solve one problem after another. Especially when my wife was injured, he carefully helped us find a doctor and solved the problem very well. He has good driving skills and can discover many animals. We found almost all animals on this trip, including leopards, rhinoceroses, and cheetahs. This trip will be unforgettable for us for a lifetime!Thank you RO Scavenger Safaris

Excellent Tanzanian Adventure
We went on safari with RO Scavengers for 7 days and had a great time with some amazing and intimate moments spotting the wildlife and seeing nature in action. Having been back in the cold damp UK for nearly 2 weeks now we are still looking back very fondly on our time spent spotting animals with our friends and our guide Edward who was absolutely superb. Silas and Robert in the office gave great service throughout the planning, booking and execution stages and Silas was always on hand and very responsive to any queries we had.
We moved accommodation every day to see different areas but in hindsight might have chosen just two, our favourites being Ndutu and Ngorongoro as they provided the best game viewing, however that is dependant on time of year and you should take advice from RO on the best locations for your intended travel dates. All the accommodation provided was a good standard and we stayed at 3 tented camps and particularly enjoyed these which all had lovely tented accommodation with en-suite facilities and hot and cold running water with no bucket showers.
Top tip would be to take some US dollars as they are accepted everywhere and not all of the tented camps and some other places accepted credit cards.
Following our safari we spent a week in Zanzibar at a beach resort with a few day trips out all organised by RO along with the internal flights and transfers. Again the accommodation was great, we stayed on an all inclusive basis at Ocean Paradise which was perfect for our needs, providing good rooms, we had Ocean Front villas. The food was varied and good quality and the location was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
One particular trip we took was called the “Mamas of Zanzibar” and this was truly authentic and a great way to really understand life from a local perspective.
We thoroughly recommend a booking with RO Scavengers and Edward was certainly an excellent guide and travelling companion, helping us out with anything and everything we needed.

RO Scavenger Safaris was a delightful surprise on this trip. Thanks to them, I saw many scenes that I had only dreamed of, and even witnessed two lion hunts in a single day. Our honeymoon trip with RO Scavenger was amazing. From the great communication prior to the trip via WhatsApp, coordinated time arrival pick ups and drops off, well explained routes and safari information, to the great energy of our safari guide Edward! We saw all the Big 5 animals and almost every listed animal in Serengeti, Ndutu, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara. Everything was extremely safe and Edward make our time really fun and insightful.
