Excellent! Highly professional and experienced. Trip of a lifetime came true!
5/5

Direct contact with a local company that tailored our safari to meet our wishes is the best approach. We had an excellent, capable driver and guide, Donna Katesi, who kept us to our schedule but made sure we saw it ALL! Her enthusiasm, knowledge and energy was amazing. As 3 women travelling with her, we always felt safe throughout this great adventure.
We caught up with Paul Nangai during our safari and we were very impressed with the attention given to the clients. Accommodation at Pakuba Lodge in Murchison was excellent and a great location for getting into the park early.

Uganda’s an amazing experience – made even better by Paul and Inter-tropical!
5/5

I didn’t really have a good idea of what to expect from Uganda. The agenda was largely driven by my wife :) (mountain gorillas), and I managed to negotiate my way into a safari rather than just a gorilla trek. I was blown away by the diversity and multitude of wild life on offer, the friendliness of the people, the raw beauty of the country and just the sheer sense of welcome we received everywhere we went. Much of that experience was shaped by Paul – supremely knowledgeable, resourceful, easy-going and always ready with an opinion. His itinerary was immaculately put together – the lodges were fantastic, the food amazing, the game drives and boat rides supreme. And he is grace under fire – a carefully cultivated network means you’re just never in a jam. If you decide to go to Uganda (this is no brainer for me), choose Paul and Inter-tropical – you won’t regret it.

You can stop searching for your Uganda tour guide - choose Inter-tropical and ask for Paul.
5/5

After conducting extensive research and a leap of faith, my family booked our first holiday to Africa as a trip to Uganda in 2015. It was a two-week guided tour with Paul and it was such a fulfilling adventure that we booked a second two-week trip in 2018!
Paul was easy to communicate with in the run-up to both trips - responsive & friendly. Over the course of our stay (both trips) we felt safe and secure, we learned about the country, the national parks, the wildlife, and the communities because he was very knowledgeable and honest in his replies to our endless list of questions. He has an easy going, flexible nature that still leaves room for the philosophy of "safety first".
His recommended accommodations were excellent (cleanliness, safety, hotel staff/ service, food, amenities, and their blending with the natural environment) and the meals deserve an extra mention as they were better than expected - the lodge cooks are amazing and Paul knows which hotels to recommend in this regard.
The national parks and wildlife are awe-inspiring. We chose Uganda because of its USPs: mountain gorillas, the rhino sanctuary, and the Nile River; but we also got great lakes, amazing varieties of bird life, varied habitats, and more excursions than we could cram into two weeks.
Paul's networking with contemporaries in the industry (hoteliers, rangers, locals, restaurants, other guides, etc.) served us very well across both of our trips.
Paul was instrumental in helping us to craft our itineraries, excursions, and in choosing our lodges. Everything was well organised upon arrival and he kept us easily on schedule. Even when we experienced unforeseeable hiccups, he was cool, calm, and efficient in his problem solving. I recommend him by name and number anytime someone I know is considering an African holiday. I am sure we will go back a third time, perhaps for night drives, the cheetahs, and to explore the many waterfalls of Uganda.

Extremely lovely & memorable time in Uganda
5/5

It is hard to express how wonderful Paul is, but I will do my best. He is such an incredible guide, and made each day of our trip unique and special.

We started our trip in Entebbe, and from there traveled to Lake Mburo National Park, filled with zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impala, monkeys, cape buffalo, waterbucks and one lonely lion (among many more). From Lake Mburo, we traveled to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - the highlight of our trip. We trekked for two different days and met two different families of mountain gorillas. Though the trekking was physically intense, to be in such close proximity with the wild gorillas was such a humbling and magnificent experience. We also spent time in the village with the wonderful people of Bwindi, which was equally humbling and wonderful. The Ugandan people that we interacted with were kind, happy and gracious.

From Bwindi, we traveled to Murchison Falls National Park, which was another highlight. Paul took us on several safaris, where he pointed out leopards, lions, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, many different kinds of birds and many other kinds of animals. Paul has a depth of knowledge to point out the hundreds of different varieties of wildlife we saw, and also has an eagle-eye to spot them.

Our time in Uganda was truly special, and we cannot thank Paul enough for sharing his country with us. His kindness, generosity, excellent driving skills, friendly laugh and welcoming nature made our trip one that we will never forget. We cannot wait to return!

We waited 6 years to track mountain gorillas and the experience was worth the wait...
5/5

My son and I traveled with Paul and Inter-Tropical Tours in the past and our previous trip was so well-planned and enjoyable that we promised to return to Uganda to track mountain gorillas when my son turned 15. It was worth every second of the 6 year wait! Five members of our family traveled to Uganda on what we considered to be a trip of a lifetime and Paul, Inter-Tropical Tours and the mountain gorillas didn't disappoint. We visited Lake Mburo, Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks as well as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We saw every animal that we wanted to see, including a beautiful leopard on the morning of my husband's birthday! What a birthday gift! The lodges were all luxurious and the food was beautifully plated and delicious. The happy, smiling locals were friendly and kind and catered to our every need and want. Paul is a safe driver and we always felt cared-for in his capable hands. There is absolutely nothing that I would have changed on our trip. Uganda has a special place in our hearts and I will be forever grateful to Paul and the lovely Ugandan people for an experience that my family will never forget!

Great safari with a great guide
5/5

When I arrived to Entebbe Paul came to the hotel and collected the last part of the payment and informed me about next day. The trip the day after started in Entebbe (I was picked up 07.00 hrs at my hotel) and the first stop was at the Equator. This was fun. They showed a experiment with water, I bought a certificate and then we headed on for Bwindi. The ride down was loooong and tiring but the last part was like a safari light (saw a elephant, topis, uganda cop, waterbock, baboons, buffalos etc).

I stayed the night at Buhoma Community Rest Camp...this was NOT my cup of tea so to say. All acommodations are expensive in Bwindi, to expensive compared to what is offered. The food was good and the personnel was great though. The day after it was time to go for the Gorilla Safari/Trekking. It was well organized and professional. We were told that they haven´t returned back without seeing any gorillas in 11 years, felt nice to hear. We walked for maybe 30 minutes then we saw them, so impressive. To be this close to the gorillas is just a big WOW.

When we return to the starting point I found out that 8 americans were not allowed to enter the park. Their guide had forgotten to arrange permits for them... Paul, my guide had done that, thank you :-) Everything worked out brilliant. Paul showed me where to be/go and everything was well organized by him. After the safari we took off and drove to Mabarara where we stayed for night. Here we stayed at Acasia Hotel a nice hotel.

The last day we made a new stop at the equator. When we drove, Paul told me a lot of interesting stuff. He knows a lot about many things, cool :-) An other thing about Paul...he is so friendly and kind.
The vehicles was comfortable with good space for my long legs (usually a issue for us tall scandinavians). Water was provided and lunch and dinner were included for two days.

When we came back to Entebbe I was dropped at the airport since I was heading for the Seychelles after the safari. Paul was flexibel and helpful all the time. I also appreciated his safe driving, no risks where taken.

Excellent Safari
5/5

This safari absolutely exceeded our expectations. Mark and Eric were both exceptionally knowledgeable regarding the local flora and fauna. Their knowledge, and exceptional eyesight, helped us to locate both a tree bound leopard and lion. The accommodations and service were also excellent. I highly recommend this tour and will personally be returning.

The Perfect Safari Adventure for our Group
5/5

Eric and Mark were excellent guides and accommodated all of our requests with a smile for our group of ten, such as having coolers with ice onboard our vehicles. They were prompt, professional, and we saw several lions and even a leopard tucked far off of the road on a tree limb in Queen Elizabeth NP -- we definitely would not have seen it without Mark's trained eye. Their demeanors were welcoming and we appreciated the fun they allowed us to have. If I'm in the area, I'll be requesting these two guys again.

Thanks for a great experience had by all of us.
