great value for money
5/5

We had the 8-day safari program in Kenya and Tanzania (Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro). Abu was our guide in Tanzania and he was tremendous, client oriented and extremely knowledgeable about everything. We really got to see all the animals we wanted to see and highly recommend him. Our talented cook Jacob was also great (he accompanied us in Kenya)! The accommodation was much better in Tanzania but no complaints for the ones in Kenya...

There are a few things that could be improved: In the Kenyan part, we would have wished for slightly more proactive communication on our logistics and shortcomings in the timing of game drives as comaprted to the original written program (instead of copy pasting generic programs to client itineraries, they should be realistically altered to each trip), but all in all it was a wonderful experience, and certainly great value for the price.

great trip great price!
5/5

We had a great time on our safari with Kenya walking! We went to Amboseli, Masai Mara, and into Uganda to see the gorillas. While on the trip our itinerary got changed a little, which was a bit frustrating for us, so I contacted the owner, Otieno, he was easy to communicate with and made up for the changes. Our first guide Benson was awesome! he was passionate about seeing the animals and a great driver. Some of the drives were really long, but that is just part of seeing a lot of places, I totally recommend this company we had a great time! The price was the lowest I found while doing my research! All of the accommodations were really nice and we saw a ton of animals!

The trip of a lifetime!
5/5

My two daughters and I recently returned from three weeks in Africa, and thanks to KWSS, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. From the time I first started looking at different tours and companies a year ago, Otieno (or OT - the owner) was right there, answering my emails within hours or talking to me on phone via WhatsApp. It's not easy to put your trust in a company that's halfway around the world (not to mention making a large payment!), but talking to him, and reading reviews made me feel confident that I'd chosen the right company, and indeed, the entire trip exceeded my expectations.

Our trip started in Kenya, where we went to Maasai Mara reserve for games drives and visiting the Maasai tribe, proceeded to Uganda, where we went trekking through the jungle to visit the gorillas, and ended in Tanzania for more game drives in the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater, and ended the trip with three glorious days on the beach at Zanzibar.

Words just can't adequately describe the experiences of seeing the "big five" and every other animal imaginable in their own environment. High point of the trip (which is not even really a fair term to use since every single day was a wonderful new adventure!) aside from gorilla trekking - a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti at sunrise, which was just amazing - the great migration was there, and we saw thousands upon thousands of wildebeests and zebras. A full hour in the air, followed by a delicious champagne breakfast - with tablecloths! In the middle of the Serengeti! What an experience.

Because of the extent of our travels, we had many different accommodations, and all of them - from the hotels to the tented camps - were wonderful. The food ranged from very good to excellent, even at the little roadside restaurants along the way in Uganda.

From the time we were picked up at the airport in Nairobi to the very end of the trip, I felt safe and well-taken care of. Three women, traveling alone...I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but we never had to worry. We had three different guides during our trip - Shuma in Kenya, David in Uganda and Filbert in Tanzania. All three were so knowledgeable, professional, friendly and just such excellent guides. I really can't say enough about KWSS. I hope to return to East Africa...the countries are beautiful and the people are welcoming. If I do, I will definitely be using KWSS again.

Safari to Masai Mara, Gorillas, and the Serengeti
5/5

We researched all the East Africa safari companies before choosing Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris. We were impressed with the existing reviews and we really liked the itineraries they offered. We were not disappointed with our choice! All of our guides were knowledgeable, professional, and nice. We saw pretty much every animal there was to see. Some of the drives were long but the guides always handled it with a minimum of delays. The accommodations were as described- not luxurious but not budget either. The food was fine too. For the price we really don't see how we could have had a better safari.

Most amazing holiday ever, thanks to the company and our guide!
5/5

We booked 9-day luxury safari in Kenya, and from the onset everyone has been extremely helpful, supportive and informative. The office answered all our questions (and we had many) promptly and patiently. My elderly mother was extremely happy with the care and support that was extended to her during the tour by our excellent guide, Michael. We have been happy with our selected tour and lodges, and were lucky to see amazing wildlife due to Michael's patience and enthusiasm. He was very friendly and told us exciting stories about Kenyan history, cultures and traditions. I would recommend this particular tour, guide and company to anybody looking to spend about 10 days with some amazing nature and wildlife. I cannot thank Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris enough for this excellent adventure!

Memorable vacation with a Excellent tour operator
5/5

We (family of 5) spent 10 days in Kenya and Tanzania. Ngorongoro crater, Amboseli, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. Kenya and Tanzania are uniquely endowed with nature and wildlife, what you need is a tour operator who enables you to experience it in the most efficient and effective manner, OT and his team at KWSS does exactly that. Within a few emails and telephone conversations, OT had understood what I was looking for and was able to craft a tour that met my needs. He was extremely responsive but made sure he did not get pushy at any time. From the time we arrived in Nairobi to the time we departed, KWSS was with us, helping and guiding us along. Markos our guide/driver in Kenya was simply awesome. Very knowledgeable and and amazing person over all. All the lodges and safari camps OT recommended were excellent. The game drives were well timed and efficient.
Some pointers that may help first timers..
1. plan at least 2 days in each location... Wild life can be enjoyed only when one is rested.
2. Drives between location are long ... plan to be in a vehicle for extended periods of time.
3. Add in some walking type safaris.... You are constantly moving but in car/vehicle...
4. Budget additional time for crossing borders and make sure you know what is needed to cross over. (visa fees/vaccinations etc etc)
5. A good guide/driver is what makes a safari Great...

We were catered to from the moment we touched ground to the time we were dropped off back to airport

Mr. Otieno did an amazing job getting our dream Safari and Beach trip together. We did some extensive research, reading books and online reviews, etc looking for a reputable outfitter because this was our first trip to Africa. He was very prompt in his communication and worked with us in putting together itineraries based on our budget. He was also readily available during our trip when we wanted to make last minute changes on our trip. It was the perfect wildlife and cultural experience and can't thank Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris enough in putting together an unforgettable experience for us! Asante Sana!

Great Safary, poor organization
4/5

Our overall experiencie was pretty good because we could see tons of animals and the big 5 but there where things about the company that didn't work well:

In the website offers it's said that they do the game drives with 4x4 vehicles and a picture of a "jeep" appears, but when we asked in the office they said that they only have pop-up roof minivans and they had to speak with safaribookings to change it. For the moment, they didn't...

We where supposed to sleep in a guesthouse in lake nakuru that was surrounded by nature but they said we could sleep in an upgraded place so we accepted and it turned out to be a hotel in nearest town, which for us was a "downgrade".

We also had to change our guide/driver on our way fron Nakuru to Masai Mara. This is not a problem but it was strange. It was even stranger that the second guide we had to meet was suposed to be "Paul" and it was "David" without informing.

David was great but he knew nothing about our itinerary and he asked us what was it. He had to call the company a couple times to solve his questions.

To end, the day before we left, our car had a problem in the engine inside the Masai Mara and we had to leave the park stopping every 5 minutes. The next day, we had to wait until the engine was fixed to leave to Nairobi.
