Mwololo is a fantastic guide, driver and educator.
We started our safari in Masai Mara National Park. We stayed at the Zebra Valley Camp and it was gorgeous! We did an early evening safari and Mwololo was able to find lions, giraffes, elephants, zebra and various antelope on our FIRST DAY!!
We opted to take the hot air balloon ride the next morning and it was stunning! We got to see a family of hippos hanging out in what was left of the river. After a champagne breakfast in the bush, we went for another safari sighting more lions, wart hogs, giraffes, baby elephants and wildebeest! The rest of our trip was wonderful as well. Mwololo thought ahead to get us a morning boat ride instead of an afternoon ride at Lake Naivasha due to a chance of rain. It was excellent especially because we were able to take a nap in our gorgeous suite at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort on the second floor with a balcony that opened onto their park with animals walking around at the edge of the lake! Yes, I was playing the soundtrack to Out of Africa that I had on my phone!! What an absolute treat. Amboseli National Park was our last stop. We stayed at Kibo Safari Camp and you should too! It's peaceful and gorgeous. Did you know that Amboseli in Masai means dust? Prepare yourself because it will be dusty that's just the geology of the area. We saw tons of animals and birds and the landscape is breathtaking. My advice here among all the parks we have visited, we/I opted NOT to buy a camera with a long lens and learn how to use it. I could kick myself! Masai Mara is the only park where Mwololo was able to get off road to get us relatively close to the animals. The other 3 parks we visited, the guides have to stay on the road so a long lense would be REALLY nice. We had a couple of problems creep up more at the very beginning of our trip ands our tour coordinator, Maryann Lucky sorted everything out seamlessly. She really is a wonderful, caring and empathetic travel agent. My husband and I both feel as though we have gotten our money's worth during this trip and sometimes we thought we got more but never less. If this was my only shot at seeing a part of Africa it was worth every penny but I sincerely hope we can return.

Unforgettable Masai Mara Safari
Willy was an absolutely incredible guide for our Masai Mara trip! He is wonderfully warm, friendly, and super easy to communicate with, while maintaining the utmost professionalism in his work. On top of that, the price was very reasonable for the amazing quality of the safari. Thanks to his passion and dedication, we were able to spot so many animals and witness incredible wildlife moments. 3 nights were definitely not enough—we didn't want to leave!

The trip of a lifetime
We are a family of 6 from New York with kids ages 9 to 17. After researching and getting several quotes, we booked a 2-week safari and beach trip in Kenya with Splendid Vacations. Before, during, and after we booked we had numerous communications with Alice asking all kinds of questions and follow-ups. She was extremely responsive and helpful, even overnight and at early hours East Africa time.
We had the trip of a lifetime! Kenya is spectacular. The people we met were incredibly kind and hospitable. It is hard to imagine a better place to visit.
We feel very fortunate to have been paired with our guide and driver, Alex Masila. He was an A+. The game drives in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli were fantastic for everyone in our family. We saw "the big 5," which was excellent, and we also saw all kinds of other wildlife in all kinds of settings and scenarios, including lots of instances with no one else around and with such peace and serenity. Alex has some magic tricks that keep him several steps ahead out there. He also is extremely knowledgeable, and has a great feel as a host and guide. He was also simpatico with our autistic 9-year-old. He felt like part of our family by the end of the safari.
The lodgings were magnificent. In one instance a lodging on our original itinerary was full, and Splendid instead booked an alternative lodging that was better at no additional cost. The beach resort was spectacular.
The transportation was reliable. The jeep was flawless, even over the potholed roads with their African massage. Our train ride to Mombasa and flight back to Nairobi also went without a hitch.
In addition to the game drives, the added excursions were unforgettable. Some of the highlights were the walk along the Masai River, the boat tour on Lake Naivasha, the visit to a Masai village, and the snorkeling day trip at Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park and Wasini Island.
If we are ever lucky enough to return the first thing we'll do is contact Alice and Alex to book with Splendid again!

Amazing vacations
From my first contact with Dennis regarding quotations to the follow-up with Janet, their communication was always prompt, clear, and professional. Janet, who picked me up at the airport, was incredibly kind and gentle. She consistently checked in on me throughout my safari to make sure I was enjoying the experience. My driver and guide, Augustine, was absolutely wonderful. He is knowledgeable, well-prepared, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He has “binocular eyes” that could spot animals from miles away and I truly enjoyed the safari experience very much.

A Journey of the life
All was PERFECT !!!! Since the beginning James was quick to respond and he immediately understood our requests and he arranged for us an unforgettable 8 days Safari (Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli). The accomodations that he choose for us were very clean, safe and close to the parks. The food was delicious, varied, and plentiful.
What about our guide Dominik? He is a tireless driver and he made us feel very safe during the trip outside and inside the parks. Thanks to him, we were able to observe all the animals we wanted to see up close, including the Great Migration.
He always answered to our questions and explained the wildlife behaviours.

Amazing safari, incredible guide — just plan ahead on logistics
A fantastic safari! Our driver and guide, James, was simply outstanding: he had an incredible depth of knowledge, could spot animals from a great distance, and was always flexible in adjusting the daily drives whenever needed. If we ever return to Kenya, we’d definitely request him again.
The one piece of advice we’d give to anyone planning this tour is to have a brief call with the agency beforehand to go through the itinerary in detail. In our case, we weren’t informed of just how many hours of driving we’d actually face between stops, which made some days more tiring than expected. We also wanted to see the wildebeest crossing, and assumed it would be easier in August to catch than it turned out to be — we later learned you really need to plan a full day for that alone. On top of this, we had booked a lodge with a swimming pool, but because of the schedule we only arrived in the evening and left the next morning, so we never actually got to enjoy the pool or the property itself. Had we known this in advance, we would have either chosen a more budget-friendly lodge for that night or added an extra day to actually make use of it.
We shared this feedback with the agency, who responded with great openness: they explained that some of the accommodation initially planned in the Mara was no longer available, which lengthened the transfers, and they acknowledged they could have given us more guidance upfront on distances, timing, and how to plan around the crossing.
That said, the overall experience was wonderful.

Really fun and wonderful experience
Our safari experience was really great. Alex was a wonderful guide and river. He was able to get us the best views of the animals and was very knowledgeable about everything as well. He was able to predict where the animals would be and therefore we were able to see all of the Big 5 animals and the ugly 5 as well. Would definitely recommend Splendid Vacations, and especially Alex as the driver/ tour guide.

Detail oriented, flexible, good organization.
Our drivers/guides were Alex and Mike for us 13 people in the group. I sat in Alex’s 4x4.
Alex knows where to take us to see the big fives and the ugly fives. We have seen all of them thanks to his Safari experience. He drove extra miles to get the perfect angles to see them. He was able to anticipate which directions the animals would head to and he was right each time, so much so we noticed that other vehicles would follow us.👍👍👍
Alex also tried to accommodate our requests such as stopping for sunset photos and change routes at the last minute, etc.
His experience was the key success factor to our very satisfying Safari experience.
