An Unforgettable Tanzanian Safari on Our Honeymoon
We had the most incredible safari experience again! Last year we travelled with this company in Kenya, so when we booked our flights to Tanzania it felt natural to contact our planner James to help us plan and coordinate another safari. James was, as always, quick to send us a detailed quote and followed up consistently. He was always available if we had questions, and we felt safe, taken care of, and well informed from the very first message.
Our guide Jackson was truly exceptional. He is incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable at all times. On every drive he shared insights about plants, trees, climate, culture and of course animals, always with a big smile. When it came to the game drives, he was absolutely phenomenal. Jackson was always early to the best spots, positioned the car perfectly for viewing and communicated efficiently with other guides in the parks. We also noticed that many guides stopped to ask him for updates because he always knew exactly where the animals were. Thanks to him, we saw incredibly rare sightings including lions under our car, baby leopards, countless lions and lion cubs, lions mating, cheetahs and cheetah babies, and of course the entire Big Five. Every time we thought we had seen it all, Jackson surprised us with something even more amazing.
We were on our honeymoon this time, and James made sure to let the accommodations know. Because of that, we had a surprise waiting for us every time we checked in at a new place which added such a beautiful touch to our stays.
The accommodations were very good, and the car was spotless every day. We always had cold water, soft drinks and snacks that Jackson provided for us.
Towards the end of our trip we had to make some unexpected changes due to our cancelled and rescheduled flight back home which meant staying an extra day. James handled everything for us and managed to rebook our domestic flight and take care of the necessary hotel adjustments. It turned a potentially stressful situation into something completely hassle-free.
Overall, it was an amazing 10 out of 10 experience.

Our dream and unforgettable honey moon in Kenya
We booked our honeymoon trip to Kenya with Splendid Vacations, and we could not have chosen a better agency. We only planned everything about 4 weeks before traveling, but the entire process was incredibly smooth. Maryann Lucky, who handled all our arrangements, was amazing, super responsive, fast, and always ready to accommodate every change or request we had. Even when we decided to extend our stay last-minute, she organised everything immediately and without any stress for us.
Our safari started with one night in Lake Nakuru, staying at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge. The lodge was beautiful, and that’s where our adventure truly began.
Our guide (and now our friend) Alex made this experience unforgettable. He was so patient, friendly, and kind from the very first moment. He took care of absolutely everything, and we always felt safe, comfortable, and in great hands. His driving is excellent, and his knowledge of the parks is incredible. He knows every path, every shortcut, and truly has an instinct for where to find the animals.
From Nakuru we headed to the Maasai Mara, staying at Entim Private Wing, which was an amazing camp with exceptional service. And in the Mara… Alex worked his magic.
We saw the Big Five — and so much more.
In total, we saw over 40 lions and lionesses, including tiny baby cubs! We saw lions resting, walking, drinking water, eating, even mating (nature at its finest 🤣). We saw a leopard, which made me cry from the sheer beauty and luck of the moment. The baby lions… honestly, I cried twice because of how special the whole experience was.
Our picnic breakfasts, the sunrises and sundowns in the savannah were another highlight: peaceful, beautiful, and so surreal. Alex always found the perfect spots.
We even decided spontaneously to stay one extra night in the Mara because we couldn’t get enough, and Maryann once again organized everything extremely fast, even though it was already late in the evening.
This trip was beyond anything we ever imagined. Because of Maryann’s perfect planning and Alex’s exceptional guiding, we had the honeymoon of our dreams.
We cannot recommend Splendid Vacations enough, and if you can request Alex as your guide, do it. He turned this safari into one of the most beautiful and emotional experiences of our lives.

My husband and I booked a 17 day experience of Kenya and Tanzania with Rachael from splendid vacations.
Even before arrival Rachael's, experience, organization and professionalism provided us with a lot of confidence in Splendid Vacations even from the first interaction and were the reason we felt so secure in working with Splendid for this trip of a lifetime.
Unfortunately there was an outburst of violence in Tanzania when we were scheduled to arrive there. Fortunately Rachael and Timo were quick to arrange alternate safaris and accommodations all in Kenya. We were initially skeptical but found that Rachael and Timo had clearly put a lot of thought into the alternative itinerary as each park brought a new, exciting and different experience. We didn't feel like we missed out at all and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!
Timo as our first driver was an exceptional guide, getting us to see almost the entire big 5 (bar elephant) including a rare and close view of a leopard on our first day!
Throughout our incredible Kenyan experience we were fortunate to have great viewings of all of the big 5 (with a large herd of elephant in Samburu park being a particular highlight), the ugly 5, the Samburu 5 and many many more!
Timo's knowledge of animals, birds, plants and the parks were exceptionally insightful and his contacts with other guides allowed us to always be thrilled with how much we saw on each and every game drive!
We were aware that Timo's schedule would have had to change unexpectedly as ours did since we were originally going to have a Tanzanian guide for about half the journey but he was able to pivot and provide a great experience throughout the extended Kenyan itinerary.
We were also fortunate to have Rono for the Nairobi portion of our journey who was prompt and safety conscious in a city where the traffic and road conditions can be unpredictable. Rono also provided a good game drive for us in Nairobi national park.
All in all we were very pleased with how Splendid vacations was able to make lemonade out of the lemon provided by the unfortunate civil unrest in Tanzania and always felt that our safety was paramount.

Excellent from start to finish!
When we first reached out to Splendid Vacations, we felt excited and confident in the tour operators. Rachael had excellent communication throughout the whole booking process, providing a detailed itinerary and making changes promptly when needed.
From the moment our guide and driver, Willy, picked us up from the airport - we felt so welcomed and taken care of. Willy truly made our trip magical and it was smooth and well planned from start to finish! Willy has so much knowledge about each place we visited and each animal we saw, and every day was wonderful and memorable! He went above and beyond to exceed all our expectations. Incredibly knowledgeable and comforting.
My wife and I travelled with Splendid on a one week tour. Our driver was Willy and he was a massive reason why our trip was so successful. His knowledge about the animals, areas and his understanding of what we wanted out of the trip. We were never in a rush anywhere and always arrived ahead of time. Willy’s guidance all week was incredibly professional and we would highly reccomend him for anybody travelling with Splendid. The tour company provided a new truck with ample space for us and our bags. This could easily fit 4-6 people comfortably. From start to finish, the communications from the company and Willy was second to none. A hugely enjoyable experience with an incredible tour company. Thanks team.

There are a number of companies out there offering these services, and most go with package deals often paying way more. The Fastest Service!
We were at Kenya on September 2025, and I've been going to Africa since 2009, working countless tour companies, but Splendid Vacations are by far the fastest company to answer my queries. After I sent the first mail requesting a price for a private safari, Alice answered it, and I had my price, hotel reservations (in high season), full itinerary in two days. Usually it used to take at least a week to decide hotels, etc. It was too good to be true, so I was hesitant till the agent met us at the airport :). Everything was on time, as promised. Our guide Willy was great, he knows the area and animals very well, and as a native Nairobian, on the last day, he took us all the shopping places we need. Splendid Vacations is a Kenya company, and all the agents you talk live in Kenya. Before that, for some other companies, I had to talk with some people in Portugal, Spain. They don't know about the hotels (or knows as much as I do from the net), but Alice even knew people at the hotel and she talked them when I call her for some problems. She was very easily accessible during the safari. I recommend them for anybody. My friends with me had their first safari experience (mine was the 20th) and they had unforgettable times.
