The BEST Safari Company and Best Experience (5 Day Best of Kruger Safari)
5/5

I recently took part in the 5-day/4night Best of Kruger Safari with Wild Wings for the FIFTH Time. Once again, I can’t think of enough good superlatives to describe my experience.

Please note all readers of this review. I am a highly experienced person of African safaris. I’ve made 16 safari trips to Africa, visited 13 nations, experienced all the the prominent game reserves, lesser-known reserves, and private reserves numerous times. I’ve lost count of how many game drives that I’ve participated in, and I have been with many safari guides. You name it, I’ve seen it - from the Great Migration (twice), elephant fights, elephant charges, lion kills, leopard kills, three cheetah chases, etc. African safaris are my passion in life. They never get old to me.

My BEST and most memorable safari experiences have occurred in the five safaris with Wild Wings. True, there is a lot of luck and being in the right place at the right time to see things.

As a person with an impressive African travel resume, I proudly proclaim that Wild Wings has the BEST safari guides (Frank and Simon) in ALL of Sub-Saharan Africa!

Frank was my guide on this safari. He personally told me he took this particular safari because I was on it. This will forever resonate in my heart. Frank understands and respects my passion more than anyone. I’ve done many safaris with Frank over the years.

Both Frank and Simon have the experience and amazing ability to anticipate where the prominent animals will be and/or will move. We (Wild Wings) always seemed to be first at the vast majority of sitings.

I recommend for people do the the 5 Day Best of Kruger Safari because you stay the first two nights in the park at Skukuza. The camp gates open earlier than the park gates. Most Kruger safaris start from lodges or pickup points outside the park. While we saw many amazing things - including a pride of 15-20 lions on this most recent safari, the other safari vehicles were just entering the park and making their way (some 30+ minutes) to the sighting, which was gone shortly after we got our photos and videos.

The same is true for nights 3 & 4 at Satara. The closest gate for other safari vehicles starting outside the park is Orpen - some 46km to the Satara area. We were out early and came upon another wonderful mass lion sighting before the Orpen gate even opened.

There are other numerous instances where many vehicles (particularly in the southern part of the park) were crowding to see something. Frank would position our vehicle in the anticipated path, just wait back a bit, and then tell us the animal would come our way, which it DID. He also knows when prominent animals are heading to the pans and water holes. We would get to these places (only our vehicle). Sure enough, just as Frank predicted, these animals would come.

I’ve been with Simon, and he is experienced like this as well.

As far as food on this safari, it is as good as the talented guides. I would say it is just as good if not better than any fancy safari lodge I’ve stayed.

When Simon is the guide, he does the cooking. All the meals were first-rate when I’ve been with him.

On my most recent trip with Frank, we had our own cook named John (Johnny). He prepared the most amazing South African cuisine dishes that were just delicious.

The office staff (Clare) has assisted me for the last three trips. She greatly helped arrange the itinerary which included transfers as well. Thank you again, Clare, for your efforts!

I highly recommend doing the 5 Day Best of Kruger Safari with Wild Wings. It’s affordable on any budget, but you get a great priceless experience. Remember that you will be in the park camps for four of the mornings - which will increase your chances of seeing some amazing sightings before everybody else!

Thank you again, Wild Wings!

Time for me to book another safari with Wild Wings!

Amazing 5 day safari with Wild Wings
5/5

Wild Wings was highly recommended by a friend who went on a safari last year. We were glad we took the recommendation because this 5 day safari was by far the highlight of our 2 week trip to Africa. We initially thought of doing the 3 day safari, but we were very happy we did the 5 day to get the full experience.

The entire experience with Wild Wings beat expectations from the initial booking to the actual safari. Our tour guide was Simon, and he was fantastic. He was very informative, passionate about all things wildlife and doubled as a great chef! I recommend this trip to anyone coming to South Africa.

Fantastic service and a fantastic experience!
5/5

We had an absolutely amazing experience on our safari!

The booking experience was excellent. A very prompt response to our initial enquiry, and all follow up communication and responses to our requests and questions were as well.

Our guide Nicky was fantastic for the whole trip, from the road transfers to her knowledge of (and her eye for!) the small things on the game drives, especially the birds...she's turned us in to birders as well :) Her energy throughout was unbelievable, and certainly helped to keep us going with the early starts.

The accommodation was simple but comfortable and clean. The catering provided by John was great as well. His passion for SA food was an unexpected bonus on the safari. And although it wasn't our dietary requirements he was accommodating, it was nice to see how he dealt with it all in such a positive manner.

We have been telling everyone about our wonderful experience, and would definitely recommend your service for anyone looking to book a safari. Hopefully we might even be able to enjoy another safari experience ourselves soon!

Unforgettable experience, Excellent service
5/5

First of all just wanted to thank Corlie at Wild Wings Safari to facilitate this amazing tour for me. She is so patient, attentive, passionate for her job and responsible! I was travelling solo with restricted dates for the safari but she managed to organized it for me in the best possible way. Many thanks Corlie.
I was picked up from hotel in Johannesburg by Vula Tours and drove all the way to to Skukuza camp. The driver was nice, social, funny and gave us whole lot of information on the way to the camp.
The bungalow was a very basic accommodation but air conditioned.
Tour was exceptional, a trip of a lifetime and fantastic.Sam, our tour leader, was great, knowledgeable and tried to spot as many animals as he could.
Before I forget, huge thank to chef Jack for preparing the amazing authentic to SA brunches and dinners.

Thanks again Wild Wings for this amazing tour!

A Faultless experience and great value for money
5/5

My wife and I have both been thinking of something negative to say about our safari and experience with Wild Wings, but we come up blank. Everything from the very informative website, ease of booking and payment, organisation and detailed information of our personal safari and guide, was exceptional.

We really appreciated them responding very timely and fully to any questions we had. We must also mention that our guide, Sam, did a fantastic job in spotting things and educating us. The way he communicated with other guides to make sure we didn't miss anything was excellent and I'm sure he is held in high esteem with his peers.

We made a good choice booking with Wild Wings and thank you very much for making this once in a lifetime trip exactly what we'd hoped for We would definitely recommend WW to anybody for efficiency, planning and value for money.

Excellent safari and tour company!
5/5

The service and communication from Wild Wings was excellent. They were prompt and answered all my questions. The safari was well planned and our tour guide really took care of everything: driving, planning, teaching, cooking and cleaning!

This was our first safari and we did a 4 day Kruger safari. We were amazed at the vastness and beauty of the park and the animals were incredible in their natural habitats. The park accommodation was good and as advertised. We do recommend 4 days to be more relaxed and have a better chance to see all the big 5.

The days were long and we started early to see as much as possible.

Overall, the safari was an an excellent experience and we would definitely book with Wild Wings again.

They went over and above for us even picking us up and dropping us off at home which was very helpful to us as pensioners. The drivers were very good and the driver from Wild Wings was absolutely fantastic
His knowledge and patience was remakable and he clearly loved his work and the animals.
I would love to go again. He knew where to find the animals and we were lucky to see the big 7 in 48 hours.

Perfect!
5/5

Words cannot express how grateful I am for Madi at Wild Wings Safari. I did a lot of research with different companies and prices and wild wings was the best and most flexible. Madi was so patient with me (I'm a pretty indecisive and detail oriented person) and in the end we came up with the perfect plan. And then unforeseen problems arose and we had to cancel our trip. However, everything aligned last minute and Madi was able to make our trip come true again and rebooked everything about a month away! She was so calm and patient and comforting through the whole planning process. It was stressful canceling and rebooking but she never made me feel rushed or forced. Also, I loved all of her recommendations for specific price points. We were able to see the Big 5 in 5 days of being there. It was a quick trip and were able to do Nthambo tree camp (unique experience) and Arathusa (Out of this world 1st class experience). Even our transport guides between airport and lodges were amazing. Do not hesitate to book with Madi at Wild Wings Safari (you can tell she loves her job and wants to create a memorable experience for you). I do recommend getting travel insurance too just in case unforeseen things happen.

Wild Wings
5/5

My safari was a week in the Kruger Park, a magnificent event in my varied 74 years! Frank, the guide, was perfect to his fingertips sighting Cheetah, Lions and on one occassion herds of Elephant drinking from the Timbavati river. In Klaverie, a private reserve ajoining Kruger, l saw two different pairs of Rhino, close-up, grazing peacefully on the savanna and Spotted Hyaena cubs all black fur and big eyes sheltering in their lair. Even Hyaena cubs are cute! Just some of God's creatures l saw on my morning and evening drives in an open safari vehicle. Accommodation was comfortable at the "Old Olive Tree Tented Camp" just outside Orpen Gate. A real bush experience, but with comfortable private facilities. In Klaserie "Baobab Ridge Lodge" is 5 star luxury where you are pampered and your every need is catered for. All meals were excellent at both camps. Just some comments for you, the reader, to consider if you are planning a trip to the African bush. Thank you Madi for your professionalism in attending to every detail of my African adventure Your care and consideration for my every request was much appreciated and to Dianne for ensuring that there was never a hitch on my travels. Visit South Africa with Wild Wings they really are a
