The most amazing African adventure ever!
5/5

We were fortunate enough to have 5 days with Walking Sticks and their team and had the most amazing African adventure. We knew before hand that they were are more basic tour group and not a luxury lodge outfit, but that is what we wanted. We are the type of travellers that want to expirience the raw taste and smell of a country and don't mind roughing it to achieve that feeling. Old, but reliable 4 wheel Toyota Landcruiser go anywhere vehicle, canvas tent, long drop toilet with canvas sides, bucket shower hanging in a tree. The food, made over an open fire was fantastic especially since my wife is lactose and gluten interolant , but they were able to cater for all her needs. Even the small things to make the experience memorable, like a gin and tonic for the lady and beer for the man at the end of a long hot but exciting day.
I could go on for ever about how the guide was able to find the right spot for game viewing and we were fortunate enough to see some really interesting game up close. Thank you Phillimon, Michael and the crew.
If you want a real experience of Africa, it's smells and sights and not too concerned with comfort, then Walking Sticks is for you!

True adventure
5/5

I absolutely loved my camping experience with Walking Stick Tours. I was very well cared for by Philomon and his helpers. It was an adventure I had dreamed of to be in the midst of African wildlife. Being the only guest was icing on the cake. I will definitely use this company again when I am able to return to Botswana. Philomon was very knowledgeable and I felt secure at all times with him. He was willing to help me get great photos. I highly recommend WST.

Amazing and educational walking safari in pristine area
5/5

I participated in 2 safaris on this (my first) trip to Africa. The Walking Stick Safari involved 4 nights at a very nicely set up tent camp on a small island near Chief's Island. Philimon picked me up at the airport in Maun and took me to my lodging for 1 night in Maun. The following morning, we took a beautiful boat trip to the bush camp. Philimon, BK (my guide) and Jo (the camp chef) were all very professional and competent. I traveled as a single female and within a couple of hours I felt right at home, perfectly safe and comfortable. Mornings and afternoons we would travel by mokoro or speed boat to a neighboring island and explore. They were very interested in helping me see the animals I was most interested in seeing. They were always aware of our surroundings and made safety a priority. I was thrilled to be able to see zebras, giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodile, hyenas, antelope and numerous birds. Elephants were quite numerous and it was a thrill to see a family of females attempt to cross the river with babies. Because this was a walking safari, the terrain was intact and the area was quiet. We only encountered one other tourist group during the entire 4 days I was there - and that was for a very brief period. BK and Philimon are very, very knowledgeable about the animals and plants and their interactions within the ecosystem and I was honored to be able to learn so much from them. They are born and raised in the delta and the experience they provided far exceeded my expectations. In comparison to the traditional safari I did subsequently at Machaba Camp, the Walking Stick Safari was so much more fun and authentic. I absolutely recommend Walking Stick Safari for anyone looking for a more peaceful, engaging, authentic and relatively inexpensive safari than what can be had at a typical lodge.

A highly recommended authentic bush experience with a wonderful team of local people
5/5

My mom of 74, my son (13) and I did a 3 day delta plus 4 day Khwai (next to Moremi) tour, We had an experience that would definitely qualify as one of the highlights of or lives. Phillimon and his team (Joe the chef, Lee - camp hand, BK - second guide and Fish - guide help) are great and humble people who truly go out of their way to make your safari as unforgettable as possible. Being locals, their knowledge is incredible! The boat rides, mokoro trips, Xaxaba village, game drives and walking activities were all unique experiences. Phillimon also took my son fishing, which was a special request and he enjoyed every moment! The accommodation is basic but everything is supplied - just live a little closer to nature for a while. Joe's food is delicious! It is wonderful to see people striving to uplift themselves and I can highly recommend Walking Stick Safaris!!

A wonderful real African experience with people who know and love their land and humbly share it.
5/5

Communication was good. One has to allow for delays while Phillimon is out in the bush with no available communication. I was so impressed that they catered for my special dietary needs (lactose, gluten and garlic intolerant) and got it right - very considerate people. We wanted an authentic bush experience and were impressed with their efficiency in organising the camp, the meals and presentations were exceptional. The bush shower and screened toilet pit with toilet seat was welcome, camp chairs, table cloth and iced drinks available during the heat of the day was great. Its so good to see locals striving to establish themselves in this business, which is their life but sad that it is so hard for them to compete with rich entrepreneurs who maybe don't have the same feel or knowledge of the area. An injection of capital would really help their business.

Wonderfull experience, very well organized, reliable and very kind guides, amazing food: the best!
5/5

Filemon and his staff are very nice, responsible and attentive; they really want you to have an unforgettable trip. Being born in the village in the middle of the Okavango-delta, they are really the best guides to show you all the beautifull and interesting secrets of this area. There is no standard programm; Filemon makes it custom; let him advice you. We have had a very good combination of long and short safari-walks and boattrips. The tents we were sleeping in are fine. It's amazing how the cooks can prepare such wonderfull lunches and dinners on an open fire: we loved everything. We were with 3 women and felt very safe; Filemon and his men were very well taking care of us. So: if you want tot make a trip with Walking Stick Travel Safaris don't hesitate, just do it!

Outstanding service. Highly professional staff.
5/5

Philly is a serious and quite professional guide. He and his team left an extraordinarily good impression on us during our 4 days safari in the Okavango Delta. Everything was well planned and executed. Our stay was absolutely pleasant. The walking safaris were superb thanks to an excellent guide part of his team: Sam. Brunches and dinners were just perfect. The confidence and knowledge of the Delta is immediately noted as you walk around several islands or go in a traditional mokoro. Totally recommended, highly reliable, fully professional.
