Our Africa

After 40 years we return to Uganda and see the real Africa again, not shaped for tourism but with all its beauties and contradictions. Upon arrival we were greeted by Martin our tour guide, who accompanied us throughout our 10-day journey, pampering us with his attention and experience.
We traveled about 2500 kilometers crossing the Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park. We sailed along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George to Lake Edward, and on another excursion, we reached Murchison Falls.
Along these routes we were able to witness elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes drinking, and we admired numerous families of hippos. In the various overland parks, we encountered every type of game that populates the bush, with the undisputed king being the lion, and we were also lucky enough to spot the leopard. Always escorted by rangers, we entered the Kyambura gorge to discover groups of chimpanzees who performed spectacular evolutions for us, and we went on an excursion on foot in Lake Mburo National Park, getting close to zebras and giraffes at a distance that we would never have imagined. The main reason that pushed us to undertake this trip was to visit the mountain gorillas.

we reached a family of gorillas, approaching them in complete safety and remaining to observe them for more than 1 hour, taking really great photos and videos.
We could go on and on about all our sensations, but we just want to tell you that if we close our eyes, we relive all those wonders and even feel the smells, which, together with the colors, contribute to the definition of "African sickness." The lodges are quite basic but very clean and with a kind and polite service to remember. Note of merit: We have always tasted truly delicious dishes of their traditional cuisine.
Thanks again to Martin and the "Valverde Safaris" organization.

Great communication, competent organization, and a lot of fun

We enjoyed every moment of our vacation. Uganda is a wonderful place to visit and has so much to offer. We particularly enjoyed the game drive in Murchison Falls NP, the boat tour on the Kazinga channel, and the chimpanzee and gorilla treks. Communication with Allana and Prisca the team leaders at Valverde Safaris was prompt and easy, and the organization was professional.
The price for the tour was one of the best we could get, but this didn't mean compromising on service and quality. Highly recommend Valverde Safaris. Martin is a great guide and excellent driver. He has extensive knowledge on all the places and animals we came across. Moreover, he has a magical ability to summon the animals during the game drives. 9 days are way too short to properly cover everything, so we will return for a longer stay for sure. :). I will post more pics on Instagram.
