Wonderful and Once-in-a-Lifetime experience!
5/5

I cannot say enough about A&A Gorilla Tours. I had no idea what to expect on our trip, other than hoping we would get a special time viewing the gorillas in Bwindi. Our driver was Vicent, and he was fantastic! He used to work with the Ugandan Wildlife Authority, so he knows a ton about the wildlife in Uganda. I never expected a nine hour drive to be so wonderful and enjoyable. He pointed out all kinds of birds, and taught us about local foods and delicacies. Once we got to Queen Elizabeth National Park, he stopped as much as we could muster to ask for, and then some. It took us an extra 2 hours to get to Bwindi, because we wanted to stop so much, because we saw so much amazing wildlife. He knew everything about every animal. We saw elephants, baboons, birds, and all kinds of four legged animals in the deer and buffalo families. And that was just the drive! Once we got to Bwindi, we stayed in a charming community lodge in a glorified tent...let's call it glamping, but nothing fancy. It was a permanent tent attached to a concrete bathroom. It was peaceful and we faced the forest so all we could hear at night was the river below. It was so lovely. And the gorilla trek! What a wonderful experience! We took the longer and more difficult path and saw the Habinyanja family (a family of 17), and we had 5 others in our group, not including our guards and guides. Everyone was so kind, and so knowledgable. It was during rainy season, and yet once we came upon the family, the clouds parted and the sun shone the entire hour we were there. The entire family laid out in the open by a creek, and they spent the entire time grooming one another, swinging from trees...the big guy (silverback) spent time holding one of his babies, and then moved over to his favorite mate and groomed her. We even got to see him discipline one of his juveniles who was fighting with a baby. The entire experience was amazing! I am so thankful for this experience, as it is one of those things you will probably only do once in a lifetime. I highly recommend it to everyone who can get a chance to go. You will never regret spending the money after it is all said and done.

We customized a tour with AA based on our preferences, and also changed part of the plans midway and our guide, Steve, was very accomodating and friendly.

11 Day Tour with Private Guide Around Southern Uganda's National Parks (four people)
5/5

Exotic and very adventurous with more creature-comforts than I had expected, this holiday is easily the best I have experienced so far - anywhere. Our A&A guide Paul (he was also our driver) was EXCELLENT, knowing which restaurants, stops, excursions, shops, driving routes, etc. would be best for us. Each day's plan was well organised in advance but still reasonably flexible. We always felt safe, the passing towns were clean and those we stopped in were welcoming. With the exception of one hotel, all accomodation was 3+/ 4+-star and staff were friendly, compentent, eager to please. Food: continental European, American, and delicious Indian were generally on offer alongside local Ugandan dishes. The breakfast and dinner buffets never disappointed! Game drives and on-foot trecking were organised so that we had a park ranger with us as well. All guides/ rangers were very knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. In addition to the game drives, the mountain gorillas in Bwindi and Rhino Sanctuary are not to be missed - but you'll need to be there first thing in the morning for the best experience. On average we drove about three hours per day; the van was very comfortable, kept clean, and well-suited for game drives (open top). Thank you for a brilliant holiday, A&A. We feel that Paul, our guide, was responsible for having made the best use of our time in Uganda and we are looking forward to going back. Preliminary planning and questions were all answered in a timely manner by A&A. Our 11-day route was also customised to our requests by A&A. Note- most routes are driven on dirt roads (bumpy, but still possible to have a kip (nap)).

greatly exceeded expectations
5/5

From the moment we walked out of the airport until we were dropped off to depart, our stay was incredibly well managed throughout.

Our guide Paul was amazing the entire time, from his suggestions for activities to his selection of restaurants to his extremely knowledgeable narration of our game drives.

The accommodations selected for us ranged from good to excellent with most being towards the latter. The service, food, accommodations and views were consistently exceptional at every place we stayed.

While the company is named for Gorilla tours, the Gorilla trek was ultimately a small part of what was ultimately an amazing and varied encounter with a wide range of amazing wildlife and environments.

At the end all four of us were very sad to leave such an incredible country and our incredible guide, Paul.

A fantastic experience guided by passionate people who know their stuff
5/5

I have been dreaming about visiting the mountain gorillas for nearly 20 years and finally I got to do it. A & A Gorilla Tours made the whole experience fantastic and I will never forget it. From the moment I landed in Entebbe they were there smiling to meet me and welcome me to Uganda. All the hotels/lodges we stayed in were lovely and during the long drives our guide Paul told us lots of interesting facts.

It was like a long safari drive through Uganda where we stopped to see large birds, sample the local food or watch the sun rise over Lake Victoria. Paul would have dinner with us and brief us on the next day so we knew what was going on and would speak to hotel staff on our behalf if we had any quires. When the local children were singing and dancing for us Paul would tell us what they were doing so we understood it more. Also, we got back to Entebbe the day after seeing the gorillas and Paul took us to the Uganda Reptile Village which was very interesting; then to a local restaurant.

I could not have wished for a more amazing experience and would highly recommend using A & A Gorillas Tours.

13-day Uganda safari & gorilla tour
5/5

In our opinion Uganda is underestimated in terms of a safari venue. We have been on 3 previous safaris, Kenya/Tanzania, Botswana/Zambia and South Africa. Uganda is right up there with the best. We only went to see the gorillas, but we were pleasantly surprised at the other animals we saw. We particularly liked the Murchison Falls National Park, a lovely location where the Nile is forced through a narrow gap and we saw a whole range of wild animals including elephant, giraffe, buffalo & lions. The gorilla tracking was a wonderful experience, we were lucky enough to find them quite quickly and our family had 3 silverbacks, which we saw all at once. The accommodation and food were fine. Our driver/guide, Paul, was excellent, we felt safe and well informed. We were the only two on the safari and it was fantastic to have the bus to ourselves. We could open the roof to get up and down to take photos whenever we chose and we could set our own pace. Having now been on two independent safaris, we have found it is far better than being on a group tour and no more expensive. We used Aga & Aba Gorilla Tours Ltd and we would thoroughly recommend them.
