The worst!
I booked a 3 day safari to Masaii Mara at the last minute with Sun Splash Safaris who contracted with Kairi Tours and Safaris. I have been on safari in Kenya and since I travel to Africa for work am pretty easy going but this was the worst!
In the morning after a prompt pick up when I asked to stop to change dollars for shillings at a foreign exchange the driver insisted I change with his friend on the street. It was a bad rate and I insisted on going to the foreign exchange, but the driver was not happy.
When I arrived there had been 3 days of protest in Narok a town on the way to Masaii Mara unbeknownst to me. As we got closer to Narok the driver was on the phone constantly and there were very few safari vans which was very unusual. there were many cars and lorries pulled off to the side of the road and when the driver was questioned he was evasive. We went to the very "front" of the line to find the road blocked. and as Kenya police cleared the road of rocks and burning tires, we moved forward the road would be blocked in front of us and behind us with more rocks and burning tires. We ended up in the middle of the demonstration with tear gas and police beating people with batons. It was dangerous and totally uncalled for. There were only 2 other safari vans in sight, the rest must have been much smarter than this company.
Needless to say, we did not make our evening safari drive in the Park. Next morning we found out the walkie talkie that every safari van relies on to find the animals was broken and had been broken for 3 days! We spent the entire day driving aimlessly while the driver stopped every van he could find to question where were the animals.
The next day the driver "borrowed" shillings from me to buy an herbal remedy from the Masaii prior to leaving the park.
On the way out of the park the driver stopped at a small store to get himself a soda and surprise! someone jumped in the van for a ride to the next town. Great way to make a few shillings for the driver but not OK.
I have been on safari in Kenya in the past and this was the most unprofessional disappointing company I have ever used. When I got back to Nairobi I sent an email to the company. Their response was not their problem about the protest and while I agree they were not responsible for the protest they certainly had hours of warnings prior to our arrival and could have provided a safer trip. No response about the broken radio, shady driver, borrowed shillings or unexpected passengers in the van. Worst Safari ever!

not well-organized and put me into cheaper hotel than what was quoted in the itinerary
I did a two-week Kenya and Tanzania safari with Kairi Tours in late Sept 2014. (My agent tour is Java Africa Safaris Ltd, but then I found out everything was arranged through Kairi Tours & Safaris Ltd. ) There were some dramas that never happened during my other international trips. When my flight arrived in Samburu, there was no driver to pick me up. The Safari Link pilot had to stay with me for more than one hour in a hot stuffy plane in a dry and windy desert-like wilderness. He was so kind not to leave me along since there were animals all around the air strip. The driver finally turned up after the pilot had to fly away and leave me with a local gun-carrying soldier. It was such a horrible wait under the sun, sweating with dust on my face. Then when I arrived in Tanzania, their tour agent in Tanzania put me into a much cheaper and much lower quality camp site instead of the lodge I booked in my itinerary. They also tried to change my activities to suit their profit without following the itinerary. So basically, every morning before the car started, there would be an argument after I was suddenly notified that I couldn't go to the place as listed in the itinerary. This experience totally spoiled my fun for my Africa safari tour. I have been asking them to provide refund for cost difference between the quoted lodge and the cheap camp site lodge. But they have kept ignoring my request. I would say if anyone making a good comment on this tour company, it would be their pure luck.

Fantastic experience with the big five and many others animals with a very skilled guide
The written program was respected : courtesy, correctness, punctuallity, price convenient. The accomodation at Rhino camp was confortable and the food was good. Only a disappointment for the dirty villagg of the Masai : many cans and bottles of plastic abandoned near their huts! Unfortunately we didn't see many pink flamingos because august was not the correct period, but we saw many monkeys and a sleeping rhino.

Maasai Mara
I booked with them to celebrate my birthday. The planning was seamless and well coordinated, Ivy was on top of things. We left Nairobi on time for the Mara. The journey was smooth. The game drives were amazing and Jeff our driver and tour guide did an amazing job throughout the trip. We got to see so many animals, had lunch at the park, he took his time ensuring we were always where the action was.
We also visited Maasai village and had a very good time with the community there.
I would recommend them time and time again, value for money and a guaranteed good time

Unforgetable & Memorable Safari trip
From the moment I began planning my dream safari, Kairi Tours & Safaris exceeded every expectation. The incredible Tour & Safari consultant, Elizabeth, was an absolute gem. Her knowledge and expertise were invaluable. She listened patiently to my desires, budget, and interests, crafting the perfect itinerary for an unforgettable African adventure.
Elizabeth's guidance extended far beyond just booking the logistics. She offered insightful recommendations even helped me navigate the complexities of different airport transfers. Her friendly and professional demeanor instilled complete confidence that everything would be perfectly taken care of, and it truly was!
Once on safari, our exceptional driver, Ambrose, further solidified this sentiment. His passion for the African wilderness was infectious, and his expert tracking skills brought us face-to-face with a breathtaking array of animals. Ambrose's patience and perseverance were unmatched. He never gave up searching for the elusive creatures on our wishlist, and thanks to his dedication, we were fortunate enough to witness all the Big Five in their natural habitat! Ambrose's knowledge of animal behavior was also impressive, providing fascinating insights and commentary throughout our game drives.
Thanks to Elizabeth's meticulous planning and Ambrose's exceptional guiding, our safari far surpassed anything we could have imagined. Kairi Tours & Safairis has earned a lifelong customer in me, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking an unparalleled African adventure. They are the absolute best!
Tips; please make sure the driver has binoculars & a radio system to communicate with other safari drivers about information of animal sightings. It made huge difference in the success of seeing all the Big 5 and more.
