Swindled by this company--avoid!
I was slated to do a 4-day trip to Nogorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara with this company back in October 2015. A day after I made the payment in full ($410) via M-PESA, I was informed by a company representative that the safari was canceled because the company director (Kristen Hubert) had had a serious accident on her way to Diani. Completely understandable, and I asked them not to rush with my refund, given the circumstances involved.
Fast forward to November: the company director's husband (Georgette Hubert) gets in touch with me and tells me that he will make a refund ASAP. However, since November 19, I have heard nothing from him, in spite of several reminders. Since I did not wish to be insensitive, I was patient, realizing that there could have been medical complications associated with Kristen's accident. However, intriguingly, since then, the company has continued advertising for safaris on their Facebook page (since then taken down) and has actually organized safaris for clients, as vouched by one of their recent clients with whom I have been in touch. To me, this reeks of corruption and hints rather strongly that I have been swindled of my money, as they are quite obviously flat-out ignoring my emails and Facebook messages. Considering that we are now in April, I do not envision receiving my money back again. That being said, I wanted to post this cautionary message, so that other travelers are not swindled by this company.

Posted on Apr 7, 2019Dear Debjeet,
We would appreciate your honest part on the matter, while it might seem like you were swindled this was un expected situation where one of our directors was involved on a serious accident and you were not the only client who got stranded that day of safari. To cut the story short you were funds were refunded and so is anyone else whose safari was cancelled so as such its not swindling. We felt sorry to all those whom had their holiday affected in one way or the other, and those who had enough time around we rescheduled the safari.
Thank you!

Nairobi Day Tour
Matea Tours was very easy to work with - I was coordinating a day trip in Nairobi from overseas, and Georgette was very helpful, quick to respond, and offered good suggestions. We ended up having an amazing itinerary: Morning game drive in Nairobi National Park, visit to the Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Centre, and a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. To make this day trip even better, we had an amazing tour guide named Patrick - he was very informative and has a great sense of humour. I would highly recommend requesting Patrick as your tour guide if you decide to do a similar or edited version of our itinerary. Everything was smooth, safe, and 100% memorable. Great company!

Outstanding safari!
I couldn't expect less from the response we had on overall response and planning phase being my second time in Kenya . We had a great and excellent safari guide who new where to be at a given time, good knowledge of the wild animals...I would therefore recommend thus company to fellow travelers looking.to doing a Kenyan safari.

Top quality service.... I can't recomend them enough!!
I'll keep this sort but to the point!
We hired 5 vans over a one week period, for 24 guest, and it was fantastic. The service was professional, the drivers were fun and cheery, and the vans were modern.
I've lived and worked in Kenyan most of my life, so I speak from experience when I say they are a SOLID company and one you can trust!
I will be recommending them to all my friends, family and everyone else.
Very responsive, but a little disorganized
Robert's company was recommended through the Nairobi Expat Marketplace forum and overall, we had a good trip. The driver who accompanied us was friendly and great at spotting animals (though not necessarily able to tell us much about the animals). Robert was also very responsive to our emails both in the planning stage, and throughout the safari when we needed to clarify things.
My suggestion would be that if you book with Maasai Trails East Africa, to send a confirmation email the day before to confirm that you will be getting water and binocular. Both were forgotten for us, which was disappointing. Maasai Trails reimbursed us for the water we purchased, but no binoculars meant some of the animals further from the road were harder to see. Also double-check the itinerary: our driver didn't know half of our itinerary and there was a lot of confusion over whether he had been given the park fees, etc. Ultimately Robert handled the situation but it would have been nice to not have had to spend an evening calling and clarifying our itinerary.
Despite the forgotten items, we enjoyed our safari experience overall. Thanks, Robert and crew! If you all improve communication within your team members and ensure that what is listed in the package is included in the car, you'll be a 5-star deal.

An unfogetable and Memorable lifetime experience!
Having stayed in Africa for sometime i had thought that i had seen and experienced what most people would call a true African experience. I was wrong until recently we decided to a family safari combining Kenya & Tanzania. We contacted Robert from Maasai Trails East Africa for this safari and with few mails to and forth we were set to go, well experienced staff good and excellent tour guide who never dissapointed at anytime...they knew exactly when and what time where we should be for an excellent game drive. Good lodge/camps selections and among all a well planned safari, i would recommend Maasai Trails East Africa to any on seeking an African safari/holiday!

The experience were great, the service was great but things were not clearly organised.
The service was great, the safari was wonderful but there were some circumstances that were not well organised. The car we left Nairobi with was not up to standard which took up half of our first day, water was not provided (which according to the outline was). But all was handled properly.

Posted on Jan 17, 2015Dear Fonda,
We are glad that you were able to have the best of safari in spite the mishap at the start of safari which was due to the new traffic rules which were being effected.
