Dependable, Caring and effusive- Will we go again with his tour company? A definite Yes.
In August 2023, our group of 14 embarked on a 10-day private safari across Kenya and Tanzania, a journey we began planning nearly a year prior. Throughout the process, Niko and Susan were instrumental in ensuring our experience was seamless, even though there were occasional communication delays.
Upon our arrival at Nairobi Airport, Susan warmly welcomed us. We had a free day in Nairobi before our tour began, and at our request, Niko promptly arranged a van, allowing us to explore the city thoroughly.
Our adventure took us through Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, North Serengeti, Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Amboseli national parks. The first, second, and last parks are located in Kenya, while the others are in Tanzania.
Our guides, handpicked by Niko, were not only knowledgeable but also went above and beyond to enhance our experience. In Kenya, Adson and George led the way, followed by Adson and Julius. In Tanzania, Denis and Alfany took the reins. Their kindness, patience, and passion for nature were evident as they introduced us to the wonders of the wild. We were fortunate to witness the diverse fauna, including the "Big 5", and the awe-inspiring great migration of wildebeests from Tanzania to Kenya across the Mara River.
Our stays at the Serena hotels, Lion Sarova in Nakuru, the Canvas tents under the Mara, and Ole Sarai camp were nothing short of luxurious. Throughout the trip, Niko maintained close communication with our guides, ensuring every detail was perfect.
On behalf of our group, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved. This journey has etched unforgettable memories in our hearts.

Best trip ever! Great communication and smooth logistics!
This 4 country adventure offered our family of 3 generations memories of a lifetime! It was perfect in every way! The communication and coordination was flawless! All tour guides were a wealth of information and provided us with every piece of information and service we could have ever needed! All accommodations were great and the food was delicious and local! We would not change one single thing!

This trip exceeded all of our expectations!
It’s been a couple of months since we returned from our private Kenya and Tanzania safari arranged by The Destination Consultants. Boaz and Susan were easy to communicate with and provided us with all the information we needed to make this a once in a lifetime trip. We were very impressed with all aspects of our safari and especially with our guides Eliud in Kenya and Raymond in Tanzania. They were fantastic guides! It was very obvious they both were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the parks and animals we saw. And we all learned so much about the animals and the Massai people. The tented camps were well equipped - internet was a plus! The food was excellent, as were all the staff at the camps. The EnkaKenya Camp was a real treat - we received first class service and meals there. We did have more “African massages” than we remembered from our 2009 safari to Kenya! Be assured that should we ever have the opportunity to return to Kenya we will be in touch with you.

Great company for your East Africa trip!
When initially researching for my trip, I reached out to several companies. Niko was one of the first to respond with a comprehensive itinerary. As others responded, there were things they were not able to include but as Niko and I worked on my itinerary, he made modifications to accommodate all of my requests. As someone who usually plans all of my own trips, I really felt like I had a hand in creating our dream vacation. The value for our money was incredible. The accommodations selected were all unique and exciting. The food was amazing! Our tour guide, Eliud, was a wealth of knowledge and my four boys enjoyed his stories and all of the animal information he had to share as well as all of the cultural information as we drove through villages enroute between locations. He kept us on a perfectly balanced schedule. He sought out opportunities and experiences for us that were above and beyond what was on our itinerary. We saw EVERY animal that we could think should be seen on safari and many more that we didn’t even know we would see. Besides the days drives, our accommodations provided much excitement. We stayed in Ashnil in Samburu where we were greeted by dozens of monkeys on our decks and throughout the property. We went on a horseback safari, at Lake Elmenteita where we saw thousands of flamingos. We stayed at Sweetwater in Ol Pejeta where the animals came within meters of us at the watering hole and right outside our tent. And we stayed at Camp Enkakenya, the most amazing camp in the Maasai Mara where we heard the sounds of Rafiki the hippo who guarded the camp at night. Safety was a primary concern at all camps with watchmen walking us to our rooms at night. The food in all of the camps was plentiful and spectacular. While we were with Eliud all week, we had the pleasure of meeting both Niko and Susan on our trip. Their company Destination Consultants, is one of a kind. They truly provided us with the trip of a lifetime and were communicative throughout our week. I would highly recommend them for any of your Kenya or Tanzania travels!

Our two week personalised safari in Kenya and Tanzania exceeded our expectations, highly recommended
I decided to book my safari direct with The Destination Consultants who are based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Niko and Susan arranged our personalised, bespoke trip.
Before and after booking, I communicated lots of questions and Niko always replied promptly and provided excellent advice for planning and preparing our trip.
on 4th January 2025 we arrived into Nairobi airport from Heathrow and, on arrival, we were met by one of Niko's team of drivers who took us to a lovely hotel in Nairobi where we spent our first night.
The next morning we were collected from our hotel, as arranged, by our Kenyan driver Ellioud in a well equipped safari vehicle and our adventure began. (the vehicle had power sockets for charging your phone, a cool box full of water bottles for our trip and binoculars and had plenty of space for luggage)
We first visited Ol Pejeta, where we stayed at the beautiful Sweetwaters tented camp and where we saw three southern white rhino walking past the camp within an hour of our arrival!
Our game drives here were outstanding, seeing many stunning sights and at the end of the first day meeting a tame black rhino called Barracka (holiday highlight) after this we moved on and stayed in a fabulous lodge on the shores Lake Navaisha and then on to a beautiful tented camp in the Masi Mara where we spent three nights with several memorable game drives where we saw and experienced so many amazing things, spotting cheetah, lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, hippos, crocodiles and all manner of birdlife - we just loved every special minute of our personalised safari.
Our driver Ellioud was such a lovely kind man, and amazing at spotting animals (20 years of experience helps I'm sure).
After the Mara, we were driven to the Tanzanian border and met our Tanzanian driver Raymond, we got our visas very simply and easily at the border and then Raymond took us on to a luxury tented camp in the Serengeti where we were to spend the next two nights - we had a beautiful time at the camp which was open, without fencing, to the Serengeti - on our first night a herd of elephants walked through in front of our tent! Amazing experience! During our three days in the Serengeti we saw all of the above mentioned animals and additionally saw a leopard in a tree with it's warthog kill and a mother and son cheetah tracking and eventually chasing a grants gazelle which they caught and killed (breathtaking and jaw dropping experience of wild animals in their natural habitat doing what they do) and our first sightings of wilder beast in large numbers.
After the Serengeti we went onto another lovely lodge for two nights and visited the outstanding UNESCO world heritage site The Ngorongoro Crater NP - here we saw so many amazing sights including a Wilder Beast being born, there were lots of babies and many expectant female animals - it's that time of year in Tanzania.
Following this we drove to a border with Kenya and said goodbye to our lovely cheerful, kind and highly experienced driver Raymond and passed back into Kenya where our lovely driver Ellioud was waiting to collect us.
We journeyed to Amboseli passing Mount Kilimanjaro (wow!) on the way and ended our trip at a Serena lodge set within Amboseli NP - this was a beautiful place to end the trip and we loved it here.
On our game drives here we saw so many elephants in different groupings, Amboseli is a great place for specifically seeing elephants! and this finished off our safari adventure perfectly.
Ellioud returned us back to Nairobi airport in perfect timing for our homeward flight and Niko and Susan made contact with us at the beginning, during and at the end of our trip to ensure we were happy and that everything was running smoothly.
Faultless attention to detail, planning, service, reliability and the perfectly planned tour.
We also recommend taking this trip outside of the main season, it's quieter and you have so much of the unique experience just to yourself on a private safari which is undoubtedly a better experience for you and for the animals you are viewing.
We highly recommend The Destination Consultants, we will be travelling to East Africa again in the future and we wouldn't choose anyone else! We found both Kenya and Tanzania very safe and everyone we met was lovely, courteous and kind from start to finish.
