A Diamond Of Beauty and Culture - Land of The Cheetah. This is Namibia!
I went to Namibia after having dreamt about it for years...And I organized my journey by myself, choosing among so many offers...! I decided to split my holiday in two, and I took a month leave from my job. Going to Namibia means trying to dive into the culture and landscape for a while, trying to catch more than a short glimpse into this beautiful land....
That's what I did. I then chose my destination to do something valuable: care for the Cheetah, the most fragile and amazing predator, which is bound to extinction.
I was guided by a Namibian guide for 9 days, crossed rivers, mountains, arrived to Sossusvlei early in the mornig to see a balloon up above the desert...the colours of the Desert left a memory in my heart which I tried to fix on my camera, but you have to see it, to feel it to understand the beauty and measure the greatness of this country. Words cannot described it. After the Rainy Season, Nature is flourishing everywhere, with grass, flowers, colours and animals everywhere.
My experience was completed by a long stay as a volunteer at the Cheetah Conservation Fund. I then discovered how much you can do for the cheetahs to try to stop the extinction of this beautiful animal.
Since then, I work for CCF from Italy, to give my contribution to this Foundation...I try to go to Namibia every year since then. One day, I will perhaps stay in Namibia for a whole six months a year...to know the country better, its people, its problems...This is Namibia!

We witnessed the lunar eclipse and slept under the milky way. This was a lifetime experience.
The landscape is spectacular!
This is the only place on earth where I had chills in front of the stunning landscape.

Canoeing the Zambezi is a dream fulfilled.
We paddled the Zambezi on an 8 day 7 night canoe safari. The wildlife sightings are non-stop as you constantly pass through areas rich in hippos, crocodiles, rich bird life and elephants. Giraffes, lions, baboons, kudu, and more were spotted also during our trip, which we shall treasure a lifetime.
The roads, accommodations and guide service are all excellent in Zambia. Travelling from Lusaka to the area of the park is straightforward and easy.
Our guides on the trip were incredibly familiar with the area and were gracious hosts and ambassadors to their park. Zambia will greet you with a smile, and you will have a smile on your face when you depart as well.

Truly amazing Safari experience
I and my husband (we are a young couple at 30yrs of age) went to Kafue NP in July 2010. It was our first safari. People mostly go to much well-known national parks, especially for their first time. However we didn't choose those wellknown ones on purpose because they dont feel ''wild'' anymore, we believe. In Kafue, you really feel and experience the wild African bush life. Animals are not used to seeing cars so often, and everytime we were out on a ride we were the only jeep in the bushes. We never ran into any other group.
Kafue river is something itself! We took a little boat tour along the river and watched the sunset. Its unbelievable how a river full of alligators can look so fantastic and romantic:) We got a chance to eat hunt meat as well; fresh and nice! I never had that tasty meat in my entire life!
Because I was afraid of being in the wild with lions etc I wanted to stay in a lodge where I could feel ''comfortable''. so we chose Mukambi Lodge which was exceptionally beautiful. The lodge itself was home to a lot of wild animals. Elephants, hippos, lions were all around & in the lodge. We were so lucky with the choice of guide as well. All the guides in Mukambi are locals and have amazing sense of animals. They se & hear from kilometers away. They showed us the animals without disturbing their wild life or risking our lives.
I cannot recall anything negative about this trip. Everyone was helpful and nice, Kafue park was truly beautiful. It made me and my husband fall in love with mother Africa and we definitely would consider going back again.
