The personalized service expected from a small business making it happen!!
5/5

Every aspect of our service was good and was above our expectations. From pick up and transition to proper airport, storage of extra luggage, pick up return from safari, the extra day of personal transport around Nairobi for local sites and prompt arrival to airport for departure home. Daniel was very responsive all the way through the booking process and then Benson greeting and Dominic's service driving all made the best impression.

Wonderful trip!
5/5

First of all, before being in Uganda, I have been in close contact with Stephen. He has always been very nice and willing to help me. The programme we made together was flexible and I really appreciated it.
Once I arrived, Milton, the guide, welcomed me at 5.00 am, and Stephen the following day.
It was more than a safari... It was a human and a wildlife experience! I enjoyed very much talking with Milton on different issues: animals, history, culture... His expertise on all these topics was very informative.
He was always punctual and very trustworthy. After the Kazinga river boat trip, I decided to do the safari at Queen Elizabeth Park and that was not included in the package. Milton accepted without hesitation and it was an amazing experience: we saw five lions eating a hippo and we were only two cars.
The gorilla trekking was incredible and a 250 kg silverback came to us and I could have touched him! It is beyond words... The Kazinga river, the lions at Queen Elizabeth Park and the chimpanzes at Kibale were also amazing experiences. I won't forget the human experiences with a pygme community and with some children at a local school.
The accommodation was very nice and the food very good. It is incredible to sleep with the sounds of the animals nearby and very moving to stay at a pension where Dian Fossey often came. Last but not least, the people from Uganda are very friendly people and very respectful.
I loved my different adventures in Uganda. Thank you Milton and Stephen. Needless to tell you, I highly recommend CUL TOURS!

Mana Shoreline Canoeing - Unbelievably wonderful trip!
5/5

This was our first trip to Africa and first safari. All our expectations were exceeded. Our guides, Mark and Campbell, were excellent. Their knowledge, skill, patience and humor made for fun and interesting days. Canoeing with hippos was way outside our comfort zones but they made it a trip of a lifetime. The food was great - thank you for the extra effort to provide vegetarian meals and snacks. Each camp was well organized, unique and beautiful. And the Zambezi River...magnificent.

Amazing Honeymoon thanks to Darren
5/5

Darren and Compass Odyssey were perfect for helping us plan and experience the best that Africa had to offer. Great service before, during and after the trip. Incredible surprises and constant upgrades throughout the adventure made this once in a lifetime experience.

Starting with the trip planning, we were able to take advantage of Darren's experience with the area and accommodations to plan the ideal two week adventure. He made it so easy to create a completely customized itinerary with all the random side trips we wanted, all the last minute modifications we came up with, and all the crazy ideas my wife and I could throw at him while at the same time keeping the costs down and within our budget.

We were extremely surprised to find that every one of our room accommodations had been upgraded or moved to what was truly the best room in each hotel. Turns out this was 100% thanks to Darren calling ahead and working with his contacts to ensure that our trip was truly one of a kind. There was even a surprise special dinner out on the hotel veranda in front of our own private fire all reserved for just the two of us.

Darren was in contact with us throughout the entire trip and did everything possible to ensure our trip was perfect.

Wonderful time in Africa!
5/5

We had great time in Africa last year, we still talk about it all of the time and constantly pull out the pictures to re-live the experience! Having never been to Africa before, we really appreciated Mariannes help with deciding on the best itinerary, picking lodging, and making all of the sometimes complicated intracontinental trael arrangements. I would definately recommend her services to anyone wanting a great trip to Africa.

Machame Route with Trans Kibo
5/5

After some research, me and and my wife choosed Trans Kibo because it is directly in the YMCA Hostel and it also offered the best conditions for our price range. They cared a lot about us and we felt comfortable from the first moment. Once the tour on the Machame Route started it was the same. The guides paid attention that we don't walk too fast, drink and eat enough and also if our overall condition is all right. They checked the oxygen regularly. My wife walked up without any problems. I got fever and headache on the second day but I managed to go up because the guides had some paracetamol. When I felt too bad they also carried my daybag. Everything was alright! THX Trans Kibo

To be avoided. Poor equipment and agressive manager.
1/5

We booked a 4days/3nights safari at Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. No complaints about the safari itself (we saw a lot of animals and enjoy our time) but about the old/ruined equipment used by Meru Trek Company and about the rude modes used by his manager, Ibrahim.

We had 5 flat tires in less than 2 days!!! I can understand some bad luck…but 5 tires punctured is not a matter of bad luck. It means you have a problem with the tires you are using!! I work for the tire industry and I know what I am talking about. The tires mounted in our jeep had almost no remaining tread and this is, beside a legal issue, a safety problem!!! These 5 flat tires caused not just loosing time from our safari, but also late arrivals to the campsites, to have to mount the tents with almost no light, late dinners and the disadvantage to remain for 3 hours in the middle of Serengeti waiting for someone to come to help us. Not just the tires were not at an adequate level, the driver did not have a proper torch to illuminate while performing the changing operations, the lifter use to lift up the car was getting blocked from time to time and once risked to catch up the driver while changing the tire under the car. Tents used by this company have zips broken, meaning cold and insects getting into your tent and in case of rain, also the rain (by the way, not all the tents were waterproof either).

When we went back to Arusha and we were taken to the main office, we tried to explain to the manager, Ibrahim that the equipment was not the appropriate and beside not even asking for any excuse, he just became very aggressive, not listening and not allowing anyone except by him to speak. He accused us to ask for a refund (we never mention this word or ask for any money back). Our purpose was to give him a constructive feedback to improve few things, but he did not listen to any reason. He started blaming us we were liars, and saying God will judge us in the Final Day….Honestly speaking if someone has to be judged is not me….but the person whose last sentence is: “you should be just happy to be back ALIVE from your safari…”. This is the person you will face if things do not go smooth.

It is up to you the choice, but to me it is not worthy to put your life at risk with bad car equipment, to loose time of your safari, to arrive to campsites late, to suffer cold because of bad equipment and to deal with this kind of person… at the end cheap turns to be more expensive!
