2 day birdwatching trip from Nairobi to Naivasha.
5/5

On a business trip to Nairobi I had a 2 day midweek break, and I requested a car and driver to spend the time in Naivasha birdwatching and visiting places i used to go as a child.

Erick came with his comfortable Rav 4 and we spent 2 excellent days pottering around Nairobi and Naivasha. Erick was excellent company and good fun to spend time with. Nothing was too much trouble - from locating my old primary school in Nairobi from 35 years ago, to 6.15 rises to go on a hunt for vultures in Hells Gate, to locating medication for my unexpected migraine. It was like travelling with a friend. However he was also sensitive to those times when i needed to have some privacy or time with others. He is also very knowledgeable about bird life, the areas we visited and Kenyan life in general. I really enjoyed my time and i would book with him again. Indeed, even if i didn't have time to go on a trip, I would probably still seek him out for a catch-up beer if i was in Nairobi again! Thanks Erick.

A unique, awesome and breathtaking safari experience.
5/5

Goliath Safaris' camp in Mana Pools sits on the bank of the Zambezi River. The day starts with some porridge by the camp fire as the first light of the day colours the Zambian escarpment on the other side of the river, turning it through a range of reds and pinks to its mid-day blue. In the evening the setting sun inflames the western sky to the guests' left as the hippos stir and grunt, ready for their night of foraging.

Stretch Ferreira hustles his guests to finish their morning tea and coffee and it is off to see what has happened overnight and to find where the wildlife has chosen to settle down for the day. Stretch guides, striding out at the head of his small group of guests, but he is so much more than a guide. I have been to over forty sub-Saharan safari camps and so feel qualified to say there is no one who equals his talents, skills and intuitive sense of how the wildlife is thinking and going to behave. It is a sense that brings his guests to the wildlife's very feet, time and again and with an unerring accuracy and consistency that is unnerving.

I have no idea how he does it - all I know is I return every year to benefit from his instincts and tracking skills, and that speaks volumes because amongst all my very regular travels, there is nowhere else I return to annually. For a wildlife photographer, the Goliath experience is sublime and unique and I shall be back.

If any reader is looking for adventure, with close and safe encounters with completely wild animals, I would start and end with Goliath - no point in going anywhere else as Goliath will have spoiled it for you.

Excellent price/quality ratio and excellent organization and staff availability
5/5

The service was very good, high quality accommodation and campsites. Thanks to our guide that in addition to being professional and kind has provided us a lot of information. I definitely recommend Savannah Explorers for both itineraries and the excellent price/quality ratio.

The possibility of seeing virtually any animal is always exciting. The fascination of being able to see just about any behaviour is also a bonus.
The park is so immense that it is impossible to rate all of it's scenery. There are certainly parts that are exceptionally beautiful, but others that can be monotonous.
The vibe can vary from completely brilliant to very frustrating, depending on the tourist season and business. There always parts where one can get away though and be alone in the bush.
The birding can be absolutely exceptional, again always with the excitement of the possibility of virtually anything turning up.

Off to Africa Again
5/5

We have done many safari’s to Africa and India but in 2010 decided to look for a small independent travel agent instead of one of the large operators – we chose The Luxury Safari Company!

We have now done safari’s and holidays to Kenya, Botswana, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Mozambique all with Rose. Her knowledge of Africa is second to none – what she doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing!
Her organisational skills are excellent and she always comes up with an answer for what sometimes looks impossible!

We are off to Africa again in March to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary all with Rose’s help! The trip sounds amazing and we can’t wait!!

Rose seems to know instinctively what we like or don’t like and with a few little extra touches along the way that’s what makes it so special, she definitely speaks our language!

Wildlife does not include all of the big five, but can be good for Black Rhino and especially good for Nyala.
This is a beautiful reserve with incredibly varying habitats, ranging from open savanna to sand forest to fever & fig forest. An added bonus is Nsumu Pan with it's hippos and fever tree-lined shore.
The bush vibe is good, you can really feel that you are out in the bush and away from it all, but can be quite busy at times.
This has to be one of the better birding spots in South Africa, with too many specials to list. This is mostly as a result of the incredible variation in habitats coupled to the warm sub-tropical climate.

Friendly trip and good organization
5/5

We found out Savannah Explorers on internet and we immediatly contacted Roberto for planning our safari in Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara Lake. We bought an individual trip (we were 2 of us) and we spent 1 week around with our italian speaking guide Rama. We had a lot of fun, and we met many animals. The trip wasn't expensive and well organised. We chose some medium level accomodations and we spent 2 nights in a tented camp (kati kati) and it was an amazing experience:the dark of the night, the silence and the shining stars. All lodges and the tented camp were nice and clean. Food was good and diversified, we could choose among a lot of things. I think that to plan a safari booking directly through Savannah is a bargain and you will be sure to have a lot of fun and serious organization at the same time. I hope to be back to Tanzania soon!

A hidden gem within many a rogue Travel agent
5/5

My boyfriend and I have always wanted to go to Africa (specifically Kenya) however as it was our first time we did not know where to go and found that many agents out there are just out to get your money as soon as possible and show little interest in making it the once In a life time experience it should be. They also always seemed to fail to understand what we wanted which my boyfriend found particularly frustrating. At The Luxury Safari Company you get professional advice from people who live Africa in every way and are completely passionate about making your trip as amazing as possible.

Rose led us through all the options explaining the pros and cons of each place. Her knowledge of the lodges is quite remarkable and we therefore completely trusted her to put together an unforgettable and unique itinerary. Rose did not let us down and gave us a holiday which we will not only never forget but also probably never beat. One thing I dont doubt is that if anybody can beat it it will be the team at The Luxury Safari Company. We are both so greatful to all the team for such a memorable experience and we cant wait to call you again and book our next holiday.
