Review about Chobe National Park by Was Buf., Now Was.

Off the beaten track, Chobe has got a lot more that you can't see in Mokolodi, including crocodies and elephants-- loads of them! It's also fantastic because it's an easy and not-too-expensive jaunt over from Vic Falls.

A trip to remember-excellent guides and wonderful opportunities to view wild animals of the area
5/5

We were extremely satisfied with all aspects of the trip. Overnight on the plains of the Serengeti was an experience I will never forget! Being adventuresome, I appreciated the many amenities we enjoyed even in the wilds. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience Tanzania. Saw lots of elephants, giraffes, wildebeests and lions.

Accessible, affordable, box-checking adventure for lightweights like me

If you have one extra day on a business trip to Gaborone, this park is a must-do. It's located just outside of town, so it's easily accessible from anywhere. It's not expensive, so even those on an expense account can manage. And it's got the possibility to show you a whole lot of stuff you can't get elsewhere, without the major allocation of time and resources required elsewhere.

Above all, the cheetah-meeting experience is worth every penny. Don't just get face-to-face with a cheetah; actually kneel down and pet one on the head. Two cheetahs whose mother was killed by poachers were saved by the sanctuary and are housed in an area where, when they're not hungry, safarigoers can get up close and personal-- in very small groups, of course. I've done this twice, and would do it again.

Apart from the cheetahs, there are a lot of other animals in Mokolodi worth seeing. We did a black-rhino tracking safari, where we got within 20-30 feet of a couple of the massive mammals after following their tracks on foot. We saw bunches of giraffes as they poked their heads out from the bush-- how can they hide so well, given how much taller they are than most anything out there? We saw elephants on a previous visit, but were saddened to hear that all the elephants were moved following a tragic accident last year involving an employee. Of course, all the smaller mammals are also there, including kudu, impala, zebras, baboons, warthogs, and more.

I haven't stayed on site, but that's not for lack of trying... in March, I just waited too long to book my reservations. If you want to do a very early morning safari, though, it's not a big deal to get to Mokolodi from most any hotel in Gabs.

The scenery is bush-- nothing special. But the region has these crazy lump-mountains that just bloop up from the ground every now and then; these are what you see on the not-so-distant horizon both surrounding Mokolodi and throughout Gabs.

Overall, I'd say if you have gone to a big-time reserve before, you'll probably be unimpressed by Mokolodi. But if Gaborone is part of a bigger itinerary, or part of a business trip like the ones that take me through Botswana often, it's a definite must-see.

The Perfect Safari for the Whole Family
5/5

I tell everyone- if you’re going on safari- you should go to Tanzania and you must go with Ecological Wilderness Adventures! When my mother offered to take the entire family on safari, she put me in charge of arranging it. I first wanted to find a Tanzanian operator so that we could support Tanzania directly and have local guides. I also wanted to find a good price and an itinerary that visited a wide variety of sites. I found Ecological Wilderness Adventures on the internet and started a conversation with Brian Mengoriki and his staff. I was a bit nervous about booking such a big trip with an operator on the other side of the world without knowing much about them, but my fears were quickly abated. Brian and his staff were attentive and flexible and allowed us to modify the tour schedule to suit our needs, which were varied since our group was comprised of five kids ranging in age from 6 to 14 and ten adults including young parents and grandparents. Brian arranged for us our own personal tour with three safari vehicles and three guides!

Our experience with Ecological Wilderness Adventures was absolutely amazing and was a once in a lifetime experience for all of us! A year later, we are still talking about all the animals we were able to observe closely including 9 cheetahs! Countless wildebeest! 635 elephants in one afternoon! And a pack of Wild Dogs on the hunt! We loved the beautiful scenery, the wonderful lodgings at all the sites, and all the fun that we had with our friendly guides. The itinerary developed by Brian was perfect- we visited five national parks, each with their unique habitats and animals, which made the tour interesting every day. The safari was well paced for all of us, with a range of activities each day including game drives, visiting local villages, tasty lunches, and opportunities to walk around.

The kids never got bored and were actively engaged by our guides at all times. They especially loved sticking their heads out of the roof of the vehicles and trying to count all the animals we saw. Our visit to a Masai village was especially fascinating to all. The safari was also well suited to our “older” travellers who enjoyed the scenic views and delicious food at our distinctive and comfortable lodges selected by Brian. Since our tour was during Christmas and New Year’s Eve, we were delighted by special celebrations such as waiters dressed like Santa serving champagne!

As a biologist and natural history tour guide myself, I was especially impressed by the expert level of knowledge held by Brian and our other two tour guides. They knew the common and scientific name of every animal and plant we saw and had detailed stories of their natural history. They also had fun facts and stories to entertain the kids! Besides being knowledgeable, they were funny and helpful and quickly became good friends with our entire group. We all still keep in touch.

The entire tour was absolutely perfect and we would highly recommend Ecological Wilderness Adventures to everyone interested in an African safari. You can’t get a better value or more amazing experience than traveling with Brian and his friends.

South Africa has a huge diversity of landscapes within the same country, so it's possible to come here and have several very different experiences and see radically different things just by travelling a couple of hours in any given direction. The weather is fantastic for most of the year.

Brilliant Company and camping trip

I joined Wild Dog Safaris in October for a tour around Namibia. It was unforgettable and had a wonderful time. The guides were excellent, and the areas visited was amazing. My favorites includes Etosha Park, Swakopmund and of course the desert. I would highly recommend Wild Dog Safaris to take care of all your travel needs when in Namibia.

Tanzania is absolutely great (probably the best) safari destination. I have not been around Africa a lot but heard more than once from various people who travelled with me and visited many more African countries than I did that there is hardly any other place out there that has such a mix of natural beauty combined with HUGE variety of wildlife, great service and people friendliness, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic overall experience. To that I can only agree.

Dar es Salaam was our first destination in Tanzania. The cultural experience was wonderful. Seeing the Indian Ocean was a bonus. The Ngorogoro Crater is a spectacle to see alone. The first glimpse over the edge is one of many sights that I will never forget. The wildlife: I do not know how you can describe the sights and sounds of Africa. The Crater offered outstanding opportunities for photography.
The Serengeti:The openness and amount of life was more than I could have imagined. Our hot air balloon ride overwhelmed me. I was humbled and blessed to experience.
