Great Safari
5/5

I initially contacted several safari companies, and It Started in Africa always provided the quickest and most detailed email responses. They answered all my questions and were up-front about pricing for all the different options I asked about. I did an 8-day safari visiting Arusha NP, Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP, Lake Ndutu, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Eyasi (Datoga and Hadzabe tribe visits). I stayed at public and private campgrounds, with one night in a mobile tented camp.

I really enjoyed the safari. Tanzania is a beautiful country. I loved seeing all the animals in the wild. I got to see several lions in trees and walking or lying around, many giraffes, elephants, and impalas, and the plains full of zebra and wildebeest. Many of the colorful birds and smaller animals were a lot of fun to watch, like the jackals running around and playing in the early morning. I liked the variety in scenery between the different parks. Ngorongoro Crater was like a green paradise, so peaceful and full of animals. It was interesting meeting people from all over the world in the campsites. My guide Deo was friendly, spoke English very well, and helped me see a lot of animals. The cook prepared very good meals with plenty of food; I was never hungry. All the Tanzanian people I met were very friendly. The tribe visits were also interesting, seeing the very different ways these people live. We stopped at a Maasai village on the way back to Arusha, and, as I had a little bit of time before we had to leave for the airport, the airport driver gave me a quick tour of the city. I was a little concerned going to Africa for the first time by myself, but everything worked out well from airport pickup to dropoff and I had a lot of fun.

Great day at Arusha National Park
5/5

Going for the Kili Challenge of WAR Child somebody mentioned to do a safari before climbing the Kilimanjaro. The contact for Makasa Tanzanian Safaris was given to me. I got a quick response on the possibility of doing a safari.
We had a great day with Tom, our driver, in the park. He could tell us a lot about animals but also about the plants, bushes and trees. Including the difference between a crater and a caldera. He gave us all the time and good spots for the pictures, story's and questions. At lunch time we got a good meal with a nice view at the caldera, including the Somasa Beef. I still like this snack from Tanzania.
We had to be back for the briefing of the Kilimanjaro tour in our Lodge, Tom planned the trip that good so we we're 15 before the start back in our lodge.
Most spectaculair moment of the day, we did see a lot of animals, was the albino baboon crossing the road in front of us.

Truly great!
5/5

As a lone traveler on this occasion, I linked up with Simba Adventures through my hotel reception desk, after visiting a number of other highly recommended safari operators in Arusha. I was fortunate enough to join a small group on a 2-day Tarangire/Ngorongoro game drive, with a stop at a campsite near Lake Manyara for the overnight, which lowered the price significantly as compared to what it would have cost me to go private, something which other local safari operators were not able to offer me. Juma, our driver and guide, was excellent with everybody - polite, informative, helpful, patient, which created a good atmosphere in the vehicle. We all became friends. We were extremely lucky to see no less than 19 lions at Tarangire, and about half that much in Ngorongoro, aside from plenty of elephants in both parks. Can't talk about other operators but this was certainly did the job!

Best wildlife and Beach holiday
5/5

We just concluded a safari which entailed Kenya and Zanzibar. It was an awesome experience and View Nature Tours had a perfect management .Being our first time in Africa, we thought it will be a hustle to find the best local operator but all our doubts were cleared after our first mail to VNT. The communication was quick and their price was flexible and pocket-friendly. The lodges in Kenya and the resort in Zanzibar were so cool. Many thanks team VNT for making our dream holiday come true.

Incredibly close to "The Gentle Giants"

We walked for one and a half hours before we found the gorillas. They kept moving and was in a dark part of the forest. It was a photographic challenge. Eventually they appeared in a sunlit glade and sat down to eat. All too soon, our hour with the gorillas passed and we had to go back. We were back in one hour.
It was an amazing experience to be so close to the animals and really be in the jungle. It takes effort to go through the jungle but if you are in normal shape it is no problem. It is possible to make all the breaks you want on the way out there and on the way home. We needed to keep pace with the gorillas when they moved, but it was not that hard.
The day with the gorillas, I will never forget.
The only thing I think could have been better was if we had had the energy to see more of the forest and its other inhabitants. We were all (tourists and guides) so focused on gorillas that I did not see other animals on the 4-5 hours I spent in the forrest.

In two words: Absolutely fantastic
5/5

Cuan helped us (family of four with two teenagers) with putting together our first safari. We had some wishes that we discussed with Cuan. Based on his experience he made further suggestions and we discussed advantages and disadvantages regarding timing, places and travel options. We went through several iterations of trip itineraries during this process and nothing was too much for Cuan to rearrange or look for other possibilities. Cuan’s accommodation suggestions were fantastic. Guides were fantastic. All pick-ups and transport was arranged by Cuan and worked smoothly, and he met us at Johannesburg airport as he was in Africa at the time.

We decided on a (for most parts) private safari through North West Botswana to get the most out of our time, without the feeling we had to follow a strict schedule. On occasions we spent over an hour observing lions, leopards and hyenas drinking, stalking prey and playing or elephants drinking, and getting mud baths. This is what we felt to be the ultimate advantage of your own tour: you decide what you want to focus on and for how long. For this it was tremendous to work with Cuan and Ubuntu Africa Safaris to put it together.

Trip of a lifetime!
5/5

I cannot recommend African Ubuntu Safaris highly enough. Cuan was friendly, helpful and informative. As I do not live in Sydney, all communication needed to be done via phone or e-mail , but information was given and questions answered fully and promptly. The tours were amazing and went far beyond expectations. Excellent tour guides, small group (4-6) safari vehicles and incredible accommodation. In southern Africa I wanted to do some tours with a different company and Cuan was able to arrange these for me as well which was invaluable, as he could then tie everything together with flights, transfers and pre/post accommodation so everything went smoothly. I am a solo female traveller and was in Africa for 10 weeks. No problems, no hitches, just an awesome, incredible experience. I have already recommended African Ubuntu Safaris to others and will definitely be using them again next time. (Yes, there's still more to see!)
