The entire experience was very well organized, from the booking process to the safari itself!
We had an amazing two day Mikumi National Park safari with Widman Tours & Safari. The entire experience was very well organized, from the booking process to the safari itself. We were picked up at the hotel on time and during our drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park we were able to see a lot of Tanzania and the driver also drove very well and safely. Our national park safari guide was knowledgeable, friendly and ensured we had a memorable time by pointing out all the wildlife and explaining the landscape in detail. The accommodations were comfortable and the food in the National Park was excellent. We saw a wide variety of animals, including the Big Five, and the general atmosphere was both exciting and relaxing. We would highly recommend Widman Tours & Safari to anyone looking for an unforgettable safari experience!

An incredible experience from start to finish!
Where do I begin? We are frequent travelers and have visited over 35 countries so we’ve seen a bit of everything. I must say, I knew this trip would be good, but it was beyond good and incredible!
We were well taken care of from start to finish, which was nice as we didn’t have to think about anything but having an enjoyable holiday. You receive private airport transfers as well as a private vehicle and guide.
Our guide Emmanuel was just fantastic. He was kind and genuine, incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and Tanzanian culture, and he was adaptable if we wanted to change anything. He was who really elevated the trip to make it unforgettable.
As far as the game drives, we saw everything (the big 5, a successful Lion hunt, tons of different animals). It was so much fun!
The hotel lodging and food with Melia and Nimali were top tier and outstanding. I honestly would not change one thing about the trip!

Very good price for quality
We spent 6 nights and 7 days in safari. It was a budget safari but they made all changings we request. The accommodations were fine and clean. We had our private cook for 4 days, the food was tasty. David and Lucy were very kind and checked every day if all was good. I warmly recommend this company/ firm.

Once in a lifetime Safari didn’t disappoint.
We had a 4 day safari - Masai Mara, lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha and had an amazing time
Firstly I would say that the extra £500 we spent on having a private jeep rather than sharing was well worth it.
It gives you more space to move around, a view for everyone to look out both sides of the jeep and space for everyone to stand up while touring. It also means that the flexibility of the schedule that was necessary due to a little rain, and excellently accommodated, was in our control rather than having to negotiate with other passengers. Especially the early starts as we were keen to use entry second of our trip and not be delayed by other passengers being up late or slow at breakfast.
We saw everything we wanted too and much more, the big 9 and loads of birds.
Thanks to John’s constant communication with other drivers on the Masai Mara we saw an extraordinary lion hunt and kill, and a resting male lion lying next to his Hippo lunch.
The Masai Mara was far the best part of the trip as there is the ability to go anywhere and follow the animals rather than sticking to roads. It was slightly frustrating in Nakuru being just too far from some animals to see them clearly and get good photos after being spoilt on the Masai Mara but that is the case in many more managed parks.
That’s not to say the more controlled Nakuru wasn’t good but just not as wild.
The Masai Mara village visit was well worth it as was the boat trip at Naivasha but I would also recommend adding the conservation walk for around $20 a head as walking so close to the animals was magical and great for photo ops.
The hotels were lovely and well styled - especially the Navaisha hotel where you shouldn’t miss a hippo walk after dark which finished off seeing them from the boat wonderfully.
One point to note is that many roads are not the best in Kenya, which is just how they are, but don’t used Google maps other anything similar to calculate journey times - they widely underestimate, unlike John who knew the times all to well.
Finally the communication via WhatsApp was rapid and constantly helpful.
Well done Jamlan Safari’s

Very helpful in customizing the perfect safari for you
I went on a safari to Sabi Sands this year, and Discover Africa arranged the perfect 5 day stay for me. I was planning on a fairly short notice of 2 months considering Oct is high season in the sands, but Barry Greenshields was able to fetch some great accommodation options for me. He recommended the Sabi Sabi little Bush Camp and it was absolutely amazing; the wildlife experience, the accommodation, cleanliness of the camp, facilities, the food, guides and the staff was all top notch. Being a photography hobbyist, I had laid out my expectations of getting some great photos of wildlife especially big cats in the safari, and surely enough I managed to have some amazing sightings on Lions and the elusive Leopard. I had quite a few Leopard sightings, during the day as well as in the night, making for some amazing photos. Other than the big 5, I also got to see some very beautiful birds which are always a great subject for photos along with other prey animals as well.
Being a tour operator, I think the real value the company can offer is i) giving accommodation recommendation based on experience (actual stay experience is up to the accommodation management but the tour operator must know what it is like and whether it would meet the client's expectation), ii) effective and responsive communication, iii) being transparent with costs and iv) ensuring the booking process is smooth and the client does not experience hiccups on the logistics or payments etc. I was very happy that Barry was great in all these areas - from the planning process, from recommending the accommodation, accounting for my budget and tending to all my queries. Communication was fast and responsive with all channels available i.e. email, WhatsApp, call etc and I didn't have to wait long for getting responses despite it being busy season. He was also very transparent with trip costs i.e. the accommodation cost, flight ticket and transfer cost etc so that I would know exactly what I am paying for and make adjustments accordingly to suit my budget. Sometimes tour operators do not provide cost breakups since the client would then make comparisons, but I believe that if your service is good, you have fair prices and a host of accommodations to choose from then there shouldn't be anything to hide - the client will recognize value and pay for it accordingly. They had booked air tickets as well to and from Johannesburg and every thing was super smooth throughout the trip - I just had to sit back and enjoy the trip. The payment process was also very easy - i.e. no "5% extra if you pay by credit card", etc.
If I go to South Africa again, I would definitely book with Discover Africa again.

Elephant Herd provided a well-organized tour with a very friendly and helpful team
We recently had the pleasure of touring with Elephant Herd and were very happy with our experience. The team was incredibly responsive before and during the tour and answering all our questions and regularly checkin in to ensure everything was going smoothly. Our tour guides were very friendly and knowledgable and always on time. B. with his eagle-eyes spotted every animal close and distant making the Safaris a great experience! The accomodations provided were comfortable and very nice places. We can recommend Elephant Herd for anyone looking for a well-organized tour experience with the option of pre-arranged tours and the possibility to tailor activities to your own needs.

Once in a lifetime experience with great guide
We went on a three day private tour with our guide John and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Starting from the first day, we saw so many different animals and had a lot of fun during the game drives. You could tell that John was enjoying to take us to the best spots as fast as possible and he provided us with a lot of insights. We stayed at the Enkorok Tented hotel which was also really nice. We would definately stay there again (clean, good food and service, comfortable, special experience). We would also recommend to do the private tour if you like to have space to take pictures and be flexible with the time and spots. And if you do not want to pay 5% credit card fees, take the amount for payment in Dollar with you to pay it in cash (we had some trouble withdrawing all that cash in Nairobi). Overall we would like to thank John again for making this experience so special for us!
