Private Solo Safari with Karibu Safari
5/5

I used Karibu Safaris In Kenya to organize and assemble a tour for me. I worked with robert, one of their tour consultants who assembled me a great itinerary at a very reasonable rate. robert was amazing,he helped make sure I saw the parts of kenya -maasai mara, lake nakuru, samburu, aberdares and amboseli (9days safari)that I most wanted to see and made sure everything about the tour was seamless. He was very responsive when we emailed before the trip, made sure everything went smoothly, and even met up with me at the airport to have our final breafing before we departed for the tour and help with some arrangements.

I knew Peart Afric Tours and Travel since several years and always have been honest and professional people. The cars are in good condition and the staff has an extensive knwolege of the wild places and activities they offer. Innocent, the boss, is a serious and professional person with a personal involvement in the NGOs activities in Uganda.

An amazing experience, one that I will never forget

We visited Ngorongoro Crater in early March with Ranger Safaris on a Safari in Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater is an amazing place with lots of animals and stunning views from the crater rim. We stayed at the Sopa Lodge for two nights. It is on the crater rim with amazing views from the rooms, pool and restaurant/bar. The staff were very friendly and the food ( both quality and quantity) and rooms ( large and spacious )were excellent. Free Wi-Fi was also available in the vicinity of reception.
Our guide took us on an all day safari into the crater. Lunch boxes were supplied by the Sopa Lodge and we had lunch at a designated picnic area near a small lake. There were other safari vehicles there plus children on an excursion from their school in Arusha,
We saw lots of animals - buffalo, lions, hyenas, hippopotami , zebras & wilderbeest. Their were lots of birds including ostriches and flamingos. On one occasion the safari vehicle ahead of us, could not move as lions were using it as shade and sitting beside the back wheel.
I would definatly recommend a visit to Ngorongoro Crater and staying at the Sopa Lodge.

You have to be in Ngorongoro on the right day to experience all the wildlife that prospers there. Sometimes you can be just unlucky. But the crater is an amazing sight - it is so vast that you cannot see it all properly in one go. It is worth going but be prepared to have an "off" day.

Elephants and baobabs galore - there was something to see every minute we were out on the road.

Wildlife - to see herds and herds of elephants - and a mix of sizes within each herd - is truly magnificent. Tarangire is the place to see elephants, especially after calving season. We went in December and had two game drives - one in the late afternoon and one in the early morning. The early morning one was better as the elephants were all seeking shade in the afternoon sun and so did not venture near the roads. (Cars are not allowed to leave the roads). There were many highlights but one was something you don't even think of looking for: two dung beetles rolling their ball of dung. Another was a dancing crane. Maybe it wasn't dancing but it was moving so gracefully and elegantly it was like a dance.
Parts of the park were flooded after the heavy rains of November and early December but the accessible areas were very varied in terrain and scenery. It is not a very big park and you can see parts that will already feel familiar on your second drive.
We stayed at the Tarangire Lodge within the National Park - it is a simple but beautiful lodge with a huge outdoor seating area overlooking the river. It is on a hill and so you can see for miles around. Come equipped with binoculars of course. Good food even for vegetarians. This lodge is not as big as some so there was a cosy feeling in the dining room.
Our trip had been organised through Shah Tours in Moshi as we did a package for Kilimanjaro, Tarangire and Ngorongoro. The safari car was quite good with the open roof but these seem to be standard with most companies that provide such game drives. The guide could have been better but again there are so many local national park guides that are well informed. The drive from Moshi via Arusha to Tarangire was remarkable too - you see so many Masai dressed in the most colourful cloth and little children splashing about in the water.

I would return to the southern Ishasha sector even though we didn't see any tree climbing lions as it felt like there was more wildlife in this area. The northern part was less spectacular with the exception of the volcanic lakes.

Absolutely breath taking scenery. We didn't see a leopard and there are no rhinos but there is an abundance of giraffes and elephants. We also saw lions and a variety of antelope species. I would return to this park.

Exceptional service and experience.

I would highly recommend Ranger Safaris as a tour operator. The tour was booked through our travel agent in Australia and I had not researched the company before commencing the safari. Our driver guide was very experienced and knowledgeable and tailored the safari to suit our interests in both the parks and the Tanzania culture. His knowledge of the landscape, animal and bird life and local culture made for a very informative and rewarding experience. The vehicle was safe and reliable and his driving skills made us feel safe. The whole tour was conducted in a very professional manner.

Impala Tours did an excellent job, perfect organisation, communication and service,
we booked for the 5th or 6th time, I stopped counting it because there is no other firm, which can do it better.

Thanks a lot and see you back next time in southern Africa.
