It was incredibly hot and dry when I visited, but what I saw made up for the weather. We spotted a leopard in tree and saw its mother bring back a kill. I stayed a Elephant Bedroom camp - simply stunning accommodation, great views and the odd elephant wandering through camp. Listening to lions at night right by camp was awesome.

friendly people and very nice trip
4/5

I've been travelling with Africa Flash Mc Tours several times (Masai Mara, ol pejeta, Samburu etc) with different kind of packages (budget and luxury), sometimes I joined one of their groups, and other I asked for a tailor made private Safari. Every time I was very satisfied with their services and most of all with their flexibility, friendly drivers and customer care orientation. yes of course some times we had some little problem with the vehicle or a delay in clearing with the Hotel but this can happen in any safari with any agency. The important is that they've always done their best to fix the issues and make us happy and relaxed.
for the long weekend of 1st may I went with a group of 6 friends to Aberdares and everything was just perfect! It is the rainy season so not the best period to visit parks due to the poor conditions of the roads, but thanks to the patience and availability of Edward (the driver) we managed to do all our programs and to visit what we wanted to see.
I would really recommend this agency so give it a try!

A beautiful area but harder to spot some wildlife as the jungle is dense

Amazing trip
5/5

I traveled to Africa in June, 2013 with a group from Cross Cultural Threshhold. Patrick was our driver/tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the area and animals. He answered any question we had. Saw many great sights and animals. Would love to go back and would hope that I could get Patrick again! For the short time we were there, Patrick made everyone feel comfortable. It's different being in another country.

We stayed in two of the private reserves that are part of the Kruger Park system: Sabi Sands and Ngala Reserve. Staying in private reserves afforded us the opportunity to go off-road in appropriate conditions and meant few encounters with other safari vehicles. However, it also meant we did not have permission to cross boundaries into the park proper or other reserves—a downside when trying to track African wild dogs, but the downside goes both ways (you can't cross from the park proper into the reserves, either).

We saw just about everything that could be seen by daylight: lions and leopards (almost daily), Africa wild dogs (two days out of six), jackals, spotted hyenas and their young, elephant herds, giraffes, rhinos, Cape buffalo, terrapins, tortoises, hippos, giant land snails, dung beetles, wildebeest, baboon spiders, baboons, vervet monkeys, half a dozen kinds of antelope, and birds galore. Only one crocodile because the rivers were dry. No cheetahs, which are less common there and difficult to spot because of the tree density. (The areas we stayed were not open savannah, but rather dense savannah and veld.)

Our &Beyond guides from Kirkman's Kamp and Ngala Tented Camp were incredibly knowledgeable. They knew the mammals, birds, insects, plants. When they found out we were more interested in insects, plants and soil/geology than the average safari-goer, they made accommodations to get us off the vehicle now and again to look at termite mounds, watch dung beetles, squint at mites, inspect flowers, or admire the dirt.

It rained two days of six (two of eleven game drives). The safari vehicles are open, so raincoats and ponchos were a must. Some people in our group opted not to go out, but we went and didn't regret it. Both times, the rains brought African wild dogs, and the rain was not cold so it wasn't too uncomfortable.

The other days were hot and dry (we went in March, late summer, in a drought year). That meant few mosquitos. We forgot about the heat when we were watching animals, and when the vehicles were moving we had a breeze.

In the private reserves, it's permitted to be out on game drives after dark. We did not do any specifically night drives, but drove back at dusk/nightfall on our afternoon safaris. I appreciated that at Ngala they had red filters on the headlights, which don't interfere with animals' night vision. We saw nightjars, a hippo, and a few other things.

About: Trek2Kili
Family Summit of Kilimanjaro with Trek2Kili 2014
5/5

Our family of 4 (ages 47, 47, 21 and 20) was lucky enough visit to Africa in 2014. Without doubt the highlight was our week trekking with our wonderful Tre2Kili crew. We chose Trek2 Kili because we really wanted to work with a company owned and run by Tanzanians. Azizi, the owner, was a porter himself and worked up to guiding and then to running his own company. We chose the 7 day Rongai route, as many companies we consulted offered it as the best acclimatization route. The crew we worked with was outstanding and worked so hard to make everything as easy and pleasant as possible for us. We truly just needed to do the hiking each day, everything else was done for us. We are so grateful to our guides (Roger and Godlove), all of the porters and especially our cook (King). The food was terrific, really unbelievably good for being in the wilderness for 7 days. I found King's soups each day to be particularly life-reviving! The crew was also very pleasant and fun to work with each day. We were made to feel like family. My 20 year old son spent many down-time hours playing hacky-sack and cards with our crew. He had an absolute blast. Summit night was certainly a challenge, but all 4 of us made it to Uhuru peak without any real problems. For the actual summit attempt, we had our 2 guides (Rogers and Godlove) plus 2 summit porters (Charles and "Diesel") to carry everything and give extra attention. The Rongai route was absolutely beautiful and seemed to enter a different eco-system each day (up though pine forest, moorlands, alpine tundra, moonscape and then down a different route which added rainforest on the final descent). I truly loved the trekking each day, and for myself walking in this quiet beauty was even better than the summit! The Bristol Cotteges hotel Trek2Kili arranged for the nights before and after the trek in Moshi was excellent, clean and comfortable. We highly recommend Trek2Kili and all our crew.

A gorgeous park with amazing elephant and hippo viewing, as well as good birding opportunities.
Overall rating
5/5

I'd been on safari at other locations for about ten days already in South Africa, and I'd previously been on two safaris in Kenya and Tanzania, but here we saw the highest concentration of elephants and for the first time got to observe them at length as they drank and played in and around a large body of water. Being able to view wildlife from a boat on the river was also a new experience and allowed us to see a different array of behaviors.

Chobe is also the only place I've seem hippos out and about in large numbers during the day. This is apparently because they need to spend more time eating because of the fierce competition for resources from the large elephant population.

The scenery was gorgeous, especially from the river. I appreciated the number and variety of birds that could be viewed on the river even in midday.

We were there only for a day trip. The weather was hot but not oppressive, and the boat and jeep both had shades to protect from the sun. A rainshower came while we were having lunch but left as quickly as it came and did not interfere our game drives/boating.

We had previously stayed on private reserves in South Africa and our guides in Chobe, while knowledgeable, did not seem to have the same depth/variety of knowledge. For example, our group had a lot of interest in plant life, and our guides did not know much beyond the major grasses and trees. Perhaps they knew them in the local language, but not in English or Latin. Since this was just a day trip for us, though, we didn't have a lot of time to study plants so it wasn't a major drawback.

Our lunch was good and there appeared to be a variety of accommodations in town for varying budgets. The roads to and from the park were wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised by the way drivers observed the speed limit.

The town near Chobe is well built-out, so you don't feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. However, there were some lodges located within the park or on the river, and these had more of a remote feel.

On the drive/boat ride we encountered other vehicles, but there were no "traffic jams." All vehicles/boats I saw had guides, and there were never more than three vehicles (but usually one) at a single viewing spot. Drivers were careful not to block each others' sight lines.

The most fantastic experience of my life
5/5

I returned to Tanzania in January this year with my partner and another couple. I first went to Tanzania and went on safari with African Scenic Safaris 5 years ago, at this time I also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. The service throughout was 100% and it inspired me to return to see more of Tanzania, again with African Scenic Safaris. We spent 6nights/7days on safari which included 3 game parks, where we saw all of the big five, 1 night at lake Eyasi, where we visited the bushman and finally concluding our trip with a night at a Masai village.

Amanda was easily contactable via email and nothing was too difficult to organise and would always respond promptly - before, during and after our safari. She also helped us plan other activities in Tanzania, including around Moshi and on Zanzibar. Our safari guide was Grayson, he was extremely knowledgable, while having plenty of humour which made our safari full of experience and a thoroughly enjoyable time. Omari was our cook and the food throughout exceeded everyone's expectations and we were never left needing more. The cleanliness of the food preparations and the quality of the food was exceptional. We were very impressed with the vehicle which was well maintained, clean and better than most others we saw whilst on safari.
I would highly recommend going on safari or a Kilimanjaro climb with African Scenic Safaris. I have recommended quite a few friends and will continue to do so.
