Shadows of Africa organized a perfect, custom tour through the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater.
5/5

We did not know anyone who could make a referral for a tour operator, and even with research felt some trepidation about choosing an operator online. But we did, and the experience was beyond our expectations. The company, Shadows of Africa, organized everything from our airport pickup to our hotel in Nairobi, arranged for transportation to Arusha where we began our 6 day tour with our guide, Moody. All of the lodging, food, and the experience itself was perfect. We saw wildlife from morning till the end of the day. We stayed in tents two nights - "glamping" - and were treated to a surprise 'happy hour' in the setting sun and tall grasses near our camp, with singing and spear throwing lessons by our Masaii hosts. It was the most unforgettable experience and I would recommend that anyone considering a safari - contact Shadows of Africa. They made sure we were fully prepared for the trip down to the smallest detail.

Excellent services
5/5

I took a Kilimanjaro climb this January with Shadows of Africa. While other providers did not even bother with answer to my requests for quotation, SoA staff was always welcoming and ready to provide all information I requested with no delay. My supporting team during the climb lead by Amir as my mountain guide was extremly helpful, ready to meet my requirements anytime. Thanks to them was my successful climb a lot easier.
I highly recommend! Thank you SoA!

A ten day trip by scheduled light aircraft visiting Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha (south). To see the landscape from the air was awesome each leg taking about an hour. The accommodation, food and service were excellent throughout. It was the combination of wildlife viewing, scenery, people (both indigenous and other visitors) and culture which made the holiday so memorable. Visited in June : cloudless skies, pleasant temperatures, lack of crowds. Good value as well.

One day in Tarangire
Overall rating
5/5

I spent a night and a day in the Tarangire National Park in late August. The park is very beautiful and rich in animal species. Countless are the presence of species of birds, in particular, I noted the inseparable black face. Also thick is the presence of elephants and wildebeest. And 'here, after so much time in Africa, I observed a pair of cheetahs. To note the beautiful view from the picnic area with the background of the Tarangire River at sunset. Must see.

True experts in Botswana

I highly recommend Safari Specialists for all your planning needs in southern Africa! They are knowledgeable, friendly, responsive, and reasonably priced. I was able to provide them with a rough idea of the things we wanted to see and do and they developed a very detailed and incredible trip itinerary. It is hard to find the right company so give Safari Specialists a shot!

It was a fascinating experience, with a great variety of wildlife to photograph and admire.

Addo Elephant National Park, is a must see park on any visit to South Africa. It may not hold the Big Five, but it provides visitors the ability to see a huge variety of resident wildlife in a superb setting. Getting about inside the park is easy, on well maintained tracks open to all visitors and other private tracks for use by park staff, who will guide you see the stars of the park, in open backed vehicles.
On our trip there, we had three game drives, two in our own vehicle, which was superb as we were able to go anywhere we wanted, on the public tracks and able to take as much time as we wanted in one place. The third game drive we did in the evening as the sun was going down and was in one of the open backed park vehicles. Our guide CJ was fantastic, a very funny guy with a great knowledge of the park and it's residents. He introduced us to Melvin and Gibson, two adult male Lions, who were snoozing off a large meal they had recently eaten, a wonderful experience. Part of this drive included a picnic, set up by the driver/guide who got us close to Elephants to watch as we tucked into our food and drinks. I would highly recommended this organised game drive, worth every penny.
They have a super restuarant, shop and area explaining what you might see in the park.
The scenery is amazing too, vast expanses of grass and scrubland to drive around, with plenty of contours to allow different views.

Mt Kilimanjaro
5/5

In March this year I took on the challenge of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro . I did the climb using Kurt Safari and as a novice climber I'm glad that I did . A few months before the climb Kurt made sure that I was fully prepared by giving me invaluable information which included training advice , a comprehensive list of equipment , clothing and medication / first aid needed in order for me to summit successfully . During the climb the guides and porters were fantastic. They made sure that we were as comfortable as possible at the camp sites and the cook prepared food that was both nutritious and tasty . The porters ability to rush ahead of us carrying our heavy supplies in order to set up camp before we got there was astonishing . Even though the guides have done this climb many times before they still have a love for the climb and the mountain that is infectious and this certainly rubbed off on the rest of us . All in all this was a great adventure made even more memorable by the experience and guidance of Kurt Safari . Highly recommended .

About: Kenya
Kenya has incredible wildlife, very nice people and a good climate

We went on a 5-days safari in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha. We got to sees all the "Big 5" and lots of other animals. Incredible to sit on the terrace by the lodge outside Masai Mara, and watch a hippo in the water. The temperature was nice, not too hot, and quite chilly in the evening and morning, so bring a jacket. We really loved the walking safari on Crescent Island, it was nice with a boat trip and lovely to walk among all the animals. Nice to meet and learn about the Masai people, impressive to sees their traditional lifestyle and cultural expressions.
We loved the safari with Spirit of Kenya!

About: Tanzania
Rustic, original and stunning

Despite the dust showers and africa massage, we love the six day safari. The world owes Tanzania to keep the oasis pristine and vibrant. To see the animals in their original habitat is completely different from seeing them in the zoo.
