About: Kenya
Life Changing
Overall rating
5/5

I recently went on a four day safari to Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru as well as a half day tour of Nairobi National Park. Kenya is exactly how I imagined Africa to be and better. There is nothing like being next to a herd of two dozen elephants roaming and feeding, having a male lion look you in the eye, seeing a leopard pop out of a bush or unexpectedly seeing a serval with kittens. Kenya has great tourism infrastructure and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated. The landscape is magnificent from the open plains to the mountains and lakes of the Great Rift Valley. Go here- it will change your life.

Here is a list of the species we saw:

African Elephant
Maasai Giraffe/Rothschilds Giraffe
African Lion
African Leopard
White Rhinoceros
African Buffalo
River Hippopotamus
Plains Zebra
Blue Wildebeest
Serval
Spotted Hyena
Black Backed Jackal
Warthog
Olive Baboon
Vervet Monkey
Banded Mongoose
Rock Hyrax
Bush Hyrax
Common Eland
Defassa Waterbuck
Impala
Thomson’s Gazelle
Grants Gazelle
Topi
Coke’s Hartebeest
Ostrich
Greater Flamingo
Lesser Flamingo
Secretary Bird
White Backed Vulture
Kori Bustard
Fishing Eagle
Created Roller
Goshawk
East African Crowned Crane
Saddle Billed Stork
Guinea Fowl
Hadada Ibis
Marabou Stork
Yellow Billed Stork
Kingfisher
Nile Crocodile

A Beautiful Time in a Beautiful Place

We have not been directly in the Chobe National Park, but we stayed three days at the Savute Safari Lodge in the Savuti area, one of the four distinct areas of the Chobe National Park and situated in the most western part of it.
Beside the amazing view of literally hundreds of elephants we have had the rare opportunity to see other big mammals like lions, leopards, african wild dogs, buffalos, impalas and so many more.
Moreover we also encoutered a lot of birds (mostly birds of prey) and reptiles.
The most amazing and special experience was the hospitality of the people who were host to us in the lodge. They told us a lot about their culture, lifestyle habits and they seemed very curious about the european culture and our lifestyle. Truly an exchange we enjoyed a lot.
We will never forget this unique trip.

Worth the detour. The view from the top of the plateau is stunning. Though the entry is not well shown.

We contacted Balu Travel for a 3 day safari in Masai Mara in June. We had an amazing experience as we also had an amazing guide, Steve, who was very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to offer us the most on each day. We saw the Big Four (as we couldn’t see the rhino this time ;) ), a beautiful sunrise and sunset and mesmerising landscapes. The accommodation at Mara Olodare was good, clean, spacious, the beds were comfortable and the food was also good. On the last day we visited a Maasai village and it was also a great experience.

great migration in ndutu
5/5

This safari was probably the best vacations in our life. We chose it started in africa for their glowing reviews, reputation and fantastic customer support. We were advised that at this time of the year we should go to the south of the serengeti to see the wildbeests migration. It was surreal. I would need Shakespeare help to put into words what we saw and experienced.

we even saw the the wildbeests giving birth, 2 hunts, many lions, 5 cheetah, 3 leopards, 2 rhinos.

we loved our guide Martin. Very professional and experienced. I cant recommend them more.

Amazing

I went to Etosha for a week, and i have to say it has been awesome ! In just five days I had the chance to see 11 lions, a cheetah (with is usually rare in the area), Rhinos, and other wildlife... I was expecting that much.
the scenery was great, though the disappointing part, is that Etosha in July, August is so dry and deserted. The weather was fine, and the accommodation far beyond my expectations. Food is difficult to find in camps.

What an brilliant time we had in Zim!
Thank you Debbie for your great recommendations and attention to detail! Changa at Kariba was stylish but relaxed with fabulous accommodation, delicious food and that Kariba feel that we crave!
Antelope Park near Gweru was great for the kids - they were highly entertained by the guides - the elephant ride was a huge hit as was the snake induction. My Dad and I loved our special time Walking with the Lions and getting to photograph these amazing animals up close. Definitely a worthwhile holiday made all the easier by your great advice and organisation of all we needed!
