Review about Hell's Gate National Park by aaroy

Hell's gate is a unique park as you can cycle inside the park, that's pretty cool. There is plenty of zebras and wathogs etc but no predators.

Wildlife less visible than in most other parks, because of the thick vegetation. However, when you do see animals, they are usually quite close.

The most famous national reserve of Kenya

Masai Mara is a great park with loads of wildlife. Lion sightings are basically guaranteed, cheetahs and leopards less so. The park is accessible around the year and more quiet and peaceful ourside the wildebeest migration, busiest months being July-September. Also, if you don't like seeing 20 cars chasing a cheetah, try to avoid going there on Kenyan holidays (esp. Christmas-New Year time), and even better, try to go in the middle of the week, when locals and expats in Kenya stay at work in Nairobi. The Mara Triagle is on the western side of the main park, accesible with the same ticket and more quiet.

A Wild Adventure

Living in South Africa, I have seen quite a few of our wild life reserves but few hold more charm than Itala. Although no lion are in the reserve the Elephant and other game make up for it. The drives are extremely interesting and the 4x4 route might be one of the best routes I have ever taken...

The accommodation is with out saying the best I have seen in a national park in South Africa. I think the only limitation is that you could not really spend more than 3 to 4 days at the park. We generally use it as a stop over either going down to Cape Vidal, or returning from Cape Vidal.

The main camp also has really cool hikes starting from beginner to advanced.

The countryside is fairly flat so it lacks the great vistas of East Africa, but offers much less crowded conditions and excellent wildlife viewing.

My only safari experience in Kenya was at Nairobi National Park, which I don't believe is really representative of all that you can see there. I have heard great things of some of the other parks though, and understand they are truly exceptional.

About: Uganda
Uganda, the real pearl of Africa
Overall rating
5/5

Uganda is the best African country we did. The wildlife is very diversified.
The birds are beautiful and we had the chance to spot the magnificent shoebill.
We did spot many species of kingfishers (Woodland, Pied, Malachite, Giant kingfisher).
The most emotional moments we shared in company of the mountain gorilla's nearby Lake Mutanda.
We spend a lot of time with them and we could make beautiful portraits of them!
In Bwindi NP, we spend 3 nights in a basic tented camp, completely lost in the rainforest. Unforgettable!
We met also lots of kids there, and we really were touched by their presence and kindness!
If you ever plan to visit Uganda, do not hesitate, you will be surprised by his beauty (better than Kenya).
