One of the most interesting wildlife experience
Overall rating
5/5

In a previous travel, my wife and I have visited other parks in Tanzania (see below). We had great time watching the wildlife. That was our honeymoon travel (yes, we love wildlife !)
So, we had the wish to come back to Tanzania to see the wildlife again. As we stayed on one of the Zanzibar islands, we decided to take a short tour at the Selous Game Reserve. We choose this park because there is not so much tourists. We wanted a park where we could feel almost alone, in communion with nature and wildlife.
We were absolutely seduced by the park. It is really big, has some roads but is clearly saved to be a wild area where animals and birds can leave in the wild.
We have also appreciated a lot to have both car safari and boat safari in the same area. That was the first time we made a boat safari, close to hippos and elephants.
We spent one night in a tented camp. This is a really exciting experience. Maasai people were there to help us make our way between our tent and the lobby because wild animals move freely. That is fun.

We made two trips for safari and they were in Tanzania. We like this country because the parks are not crowded, one feels like privileged to be in such place.
The nature is protected, wildlife is sanctified.

Enjoyed the stunning African safari of the life time.
5/5

It was a quick and a sudden decision for a safari tour. I checked with many sites, at last i found Big Time Holidays Ltd to match my needs.
They were quick responsive with reasonable rates.
We explored the Masai Mara game reserves with an expert local safari guide and sighted many wild species. Most amazing incident was tow male Cheetahs hunted a Wilder beast and feasting. We managed to fill our memory cards with the beauty of African landscapes & natural wildlife.
Big thanks to Big Time Holidays and we highly recommend you for best safari adventures.

Trekking for Gorillas with Umubano Tours
5/5

In April of 2015 I travelled to Rwanda and completed four gorilla treks, all organized by Umubano Tours.

Umubano Tours was highly recommended online, prompting me to reach out to its principal, Herbert, for an itinerary. Herbert was extremely helpful in planning the trip, always quick to respond with good advice. In country, my guide was Bosco, though Herbert also made sure to introduce himself and ensure I had everything I needed. Bosco was a fantastic guide, very personable and willing to help with whatever I required.

I recommend Umubano Tours without reservation. This is an excellent company that went out of its way to make sure my trip was a massive success. I will certainly use them again for any tours in regions they service.

Lovely, high quality effort from Moureen and her driver Robert
5/5

Would like to say "thank you so much" for an amazing 2 ppl VIP Safari organized from Moureen.

It was our first Safari and Moureen was very helpful in advance. She offered a lot of options and never was bugged due to our never ending changing requirements.

She also organized a webcam chat via Skype. It was a nice and quick option to ask her a lot of questions directly without any time delay.

After we accomplished everything and started our trip from Germany to Kenia and Moureen came with Robert from Mombasa and picked us up directly in front of our accomodation in Nairobi.

The whole 1 week trip we had our own driver Robert (very, very friendly, funny and qualified) and a nice and good equipped car!

We never felt unsafe in any way and the booked Lodges and Camps were as good as mentioned from Moureen in advance.
Due to the experience of Robert we have seen a lot of animals (also the big 5 ofc) and he was able to answer all our questions regarding each single animal.
Robert was all the time with us (except in our free time) and we loved and actually miss his society.

At Maasai Mara we booked an extra option (hot-air balloon trip) in advance via Moureen organized from another organisation and it worked smoothly without any problem. Moureen and Robert organized everything and the other organisation picked us up at our Lodge and returned us to it without any delay.

Our trip that started in Nairobi as mentioned before ended in Mombasa and there we met with Moureen again. She organized our 2 nights in Mombasa and we had a city trip + visit of a zoological garden with Robert as our driver again.
In the zoological garden we have seen the biggest turtles ever. Never expected such big ones alive. Felt in love with them and will never forget the moment when I saw them crossing my way and realized that they are real animals. Robert has not mentioned them before. It was a huge surprise!

If we will ever be in Kenia again we will contact Moureen for sure. We can recommend her to everyone of you without any bad conscience.

Thanks for everything Moureen and pls tell Robert that we were very happy with him.

World Air Travel organised a good safari with a very good driver/guide
4/5

Communicating with WAT is a pleasure, fast and to the point reactions. Our guide John was very nice, carefull and knowledgeable about nature; animals and plants of Tanzania.
Good vehicle, good lodges. Also thanks to the low season there were few tourists and we often had the animals (that were there plenty) for ourselves.

Great wildlife viewing, quality accomodations, excellent experience start to finish

My wife and I took Coastal Aviation's last minute tour package, and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The ground and flight crew at the airports were professional and got us there and back safely. Once we arrived, we were promptly picked up and immediately set out on our safari. Our guides were great and really went out of their way to make sure we had a great wildlife viewing experience. They were willing to head out very early and stay out as late as we wanted on our game drives.

The accommodations were pretty nice as well, with a great outdoor shower. It was great to be in a bush camp environment, and it really added to the whole safari experience. It was by no means 5*, but everything was excellent quality, especially for the price. There was even hot water! The food was the only thing that wasn't spectacular, but there was enough of it, which is probably more important.

This is quite an amazing adventure

It takes quite a lot of effort to get to Bwindi but the journey is well worth it if you get to see a Mountain Gorilla which generally most people do. This is really why you go there. I have worked for the National Parks Service in Australia so i went with a critical eye as to how the experience was managed but particularly how the Gorilla trekking was managed, especially since there are only 880 Mountain Gorillas left in the world. And i was very impressed. I stood within four metres of a Silverback and his family after a five hour hike with my heart thumping a million miles an hour. The guide was fantastic. You are only allowed one hour with the Gorillas but it was a truly wonderful experience to see these magnificent animals in their environment. A word of caution. The trip to get there from Kampala is long and arduous and if you get car sick then the last two hours could be hell but i dont so i just took it all in and had a wonderful time. I highly recommend going. It's a good idea to take a stop at Lake Mburo and/or Queen Elizabeth national parks on the way.

About: Uganda
Review about Uganda by Stuart

Uganda tourism suffers i suspect from the Idi Amin legacy with a reputation for danger it no longer deserves. I was there for two weeks and felt entirely safe the entire time. Interestingly Kenya gets the lions share of tourists (pun intended) but is not a partiuclary safe place. Right now I'd be avoiding Kenya and taking the far safer option of Uganda. Wonderful country, wonderful friendly people. It is green beyond belief. Can highly recommned the four to five day hike to Mt Elgon National Park to reach the summit as well. another well managed and spectacular place.
