We wasn't lucky to see rhinos close! And famous enormous herds of zebra and wildebeests migrated to Kenya. But we still have seen lions cubs!

A Pleasant Park

This is a pretty park, but it's by no means one of the best in Africa. I did enjoy seeing the roan antelope, eland, zebra and bushbuck. The birding was good as well. I was lucky to see a serval.

I feel that Bale Mountain National Park offers something similar, but more unique. I was able to see species of wildlife such as the Ethiopian wolf and Mountain Nyala which are truly unique.

About: Tanzania
Joining with nature.

I already have visited rural areas in China and Middle Eastern countries, so I was expecting something similar. But honestly I was surprised to see Tanzania as very clean and quite healthy country! The food was very fresh and tasty, roads were good and safe enough (I even took dala-dala), and people were incredibly friendly. Most of my guides were exceptional, I was very pleased with the service, although I took one of the cheapest tours. All of them spoke English very good, were knowledgeable and polite. The only thing I was really angry with was the absence of hot water in many places. I can tolerate it in safari camps, but not in hotels. I should know about this and book a bit more expensive ones.

I did 4-days safari and it was unspeakable adventure... I watch BBC and National Geographic movies about African nature since my childhood, so it was crazy to finally see everything by my eyes! Giant, but gentle elephants in Tarangire and ferocious lions, eating their prey at sunrise in Serengeti, were highlights of the journey! I took amazing photos as I dreamed. We also have seen plenty of beautiful birds, amazing family of cheetahs, cute gazelles, mongooses, monkeys... During lunch and evening time I had an opportunity to meet smaller creatures - lizards, butterflies and so on.

Of course it wasn't hakuna matata journey, but I expected this. In Serengeti we had to mount our tents under the rain, I've even got some cold. It was very cold during the night in Ngorongoro, but I was clever enough to get warm autumn jacket. Some fellow travelers wasn't so lucky, so I could suggest travel companies to get a bit warmer sleeping bags for a winter season. :) And the most incredible part was animals in the night - hyenas were wandering around our camp in Serengeti! and also warthogs and some smaller animals. It was crazy, but truly adventurous! It is certainly not for those, who like comfort. In Ngorongoro cute zebra was eating grass near my tent during the night, and I even could hear its breathing. So it was really unique experience! I feel I should return some day may be to see Oldonyo-Lengai volcano and the lake Natron, and more of Ngorongoro, because we didn't see rhinos close! Thanks to Tanzania for so incredible journey!

We had a safari with sunup and it was really amazing, what a wildlife and our chauffeur Robin showed us the whole big 5! Chris, the person we had email contact with was also very pleasant, he always responded very quick at any our questions! We stayed at the luxury ashnil mara camp and it was was really good! We booked a private safari, we where with 3 persons and that was very nice. We loved our safari and we really recommend sunup adventure!

Experience of a lifetime.

A party of five people, I senior, parents, and two boys age 9 and 11.
Having travelled in Africa many times, I wanted my grandsons to experience this wonderful country.
This is the first time that I have used a organised tour company, previously preferring to make my own arrangements has I travelled though. After much research I choose Boundless Journeys, and boy oh boy, I absolutely made the right decision. From my very first communication with Annette to being dropped off at the airport by Enoch everything was superb. The attention to detail was amazing. We were kept informed at every stage of the details of our trip. Not only was Annette super efficient, the driver allocated to us was marvellous. Enoch was a lovely man, very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, and a very safe driver. We saw all the big five. And Enoch was especially attentive to the two youngest who was very keen to learn from him. If you want the holiday of a lifetime, please book with this company, you will not be disappointed. Finally thank you, Annette & Enoch, for a brilliant time.

Great experience with a sour end
Overall rating
4/5

The experience on the whole was incredible. We were met at the airport by a driver (as arranged) and taken swiftly to our tour operator’s (Seth) office. We paid Seth for what we agreed (there maybe more ‘tax’ costs on the day though so bring extra dollars as we did not have enough with ‘extra increments’). After that we were then taken to the hotel as arranged by Seth prior to our visit because our tour started early the next day. I would recommend staying elsewhere as this hotel is very basic with its amenities and food. My partner and I did not believe it was worth the $100 cost for two nights. It is based in the CBD of Kenya so leaving the hotel to explore the city was eerily at times - my partners necklace was actually snatched from around her neck even though it was hidden (luckily it was not expensive).

The following morning we were picked up by another driver to meet the rest of the tour group. We met our driver Stanley who was fantastic and cannot recommend him enough. He took us to see every animal listed on the website and his knowledge of the areas he took us too was very good. He answered every question we asked and helped us if we were stuck with anything. He looked after us as a group and made sure we were all completely satisfied with our journey.

Accommodation at the campsites were as expected (because of the price you pay for the whole package). Food at all places are buffet but selection is not fantastic. The campsite next to the Maasai Mara was a great experience though.

Overall, the experience was great and it will hold brilliant memories for us forever. However, the trip we had went a bit sour towards the end as we had extras in our package which we paid for on arrival but were then changed. After much deliberation, we finally had what was agreed but this did take a lot of time when discussed with the tour operator. There were many messages back and forth which were needless. There had also been another instance on the tour where our driver had taken us to an excursion but our tour operator did not tell the driver my partner and I had paid already for it as part of our package. This could have become very tricky for one of us and someone could could have been out of pocket. This should have been discussed and organised prior to us. I do not feel the situation was necessary or my issue to fix but I was the one to fix this problem. It would have been extremely difficult if I did not have a SIM card (also recommended by the tour operator not to get beforehand).

I would recommend this experience to everyone as it was once in a lifetime opportunity. However, I have learnt a few lessons from this:
1) Make sure you get what you pay and you keep on top of what is offered so you are not swindled out of any money.
2) Be fluid and have a positive attitude as plans can change daily - detailed plans changed completely but we do what was listed.
3) Bring a high powered power bank and a SIM card at the airport as some places of stay do not have internet or working electricity all day.

I liked Liwonde National Park. I think that it's an unknown gem. Nyika and Lake Malawi were fine.
