Review about Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by Kent MacElwee

The hardest hike I have ever done-- beating through thorns and dense bush, it took us 4 hours to find the gorillas -- wow, it was worth it. Incredible to see them lounging and foraging and eating and sleeping. A mother and tiny baby, a silverback, a few females, another competing male. So docile, in general.. Really incredible.

Nature is absolutely gorgeous, the wildlife diversity is mind-blowing. And of course people - super friendly, polite, smiling, with good mood and attitude.

The reserves and botanical gardens are breathtaking! I recommend seeking tours that offer transport to and from the destinations.
We found people friendly, food and activities affordable and readily accessible.

This is a great place to see wild life.
Overall rating
4/5

We visited this park last year and I was pleasantly surprised with the beauty of nature and its animals. We stayed in the park accommodation and we found them to be clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. What a pleasure. The parks shop has all that one needs when visiting a park and the public ablutions are clean and modern. The restaurant is geared for good food and the menu has quite a variety of South African dishes.

Concerning the wild life, this is a green park with lots of animal and you will see elephant. You can do your own game drives or use the Sanparks open vehicles. There are picnic spots that are well maintained but always remember that your are in a national park with wild animal and please be careful.

We will visit this park again in 2015 as we take in tour groups and we always enjoy this park.

About: Kenya
Great Trip
Overall rating
4/5

It was an easy flight from Addis to Nairobi where I caught an afternoon ride to the Sankara Hotel. I had a pleasant evening and was met promptly at 7:00am as promised. The 5 hour ride to the camp just outside the Masai Mara Reserve went smoothly and included vistas of the Rift Valley and a couple of opportunities to do some shopping.

The camp was welcoming and the room generous and comfortable. The only surprise was the hot water bottle at the foot of my bed, which I thought was a small animal!

The afternoon included a stop at a Masai village where, for $30, you could get a tour of their homes and see some dancing. It was a fine experience, but I would have preferred not to have been given a tour of their wares with the expectation of a purchase at the end.

The ride to the game park was only interrupted by a gaggle of women animatedly selling their wares with calls of “Jambo, Hello! All for $10!” As I awaited my driver paying the entrance fee.

The park was amazing! I was able to see Zebra, Giraffes, and Water Buffalo within minutes of entering. The next two days were equally exciting as we saw Cheetah, lions, Hippos, Topi, Hyenas, Impala, Elephants, a Leopard, and many birds. The only one of the Big Five I didn’t see was a Rhino.

Overall, it was a great trip and made even greater by my guide, with his eagle eyes and kind demeanor, Charles.

Excellent wildlife viewing at Hluhluwe-Imfolozi...elephants galore!
Overall rating
4/5

I've been to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi 2 years in a row while staying at a lodge nearby. It's a fantastic park with lots and lots of roads to explore. The traffic isn't light, but it's not super crowded, there's definitely places where you can find animals/birds on your own and feel like you're completely isolated.
I was able to watch the large herd of elephants moving through the park one morning for 30-45 minutes. I saw maybe 200+ elephants all together.

WOW ! Service beyond expectations !
5/5

It started in Africa gave us an incredible service from the beginning to the end ;)

The safari was so nice ! We had an amazing time ! Our guide, Johnson, was very nice too ! We had a lot of fun with him ! The "basic camping'' was beyond our expectations ! Heaven nature is more than basic, it was perfect for us !

The Ngorongoro Crater is a must see in your life...it's completely incredible ! You absolutely have to add it to your check list..and make sure to do it with It started in Africa..a company that will take care of you before your trip, during your trip and after you come back home !

I travel a lot and when I checked to do a safari I just contacted so many companies...and It started in Africa is the one who always answered all my ''so many'' questions ! The best customer service for sure ! And it's very not too expensive.

Thanks to all of the team ! We really had a great time ! :) And a special thanks to Johnson..the best guide ever ! :)

Saw all kinds of animals on private safari in Kruger
Overall rating
5/5

We saw most of the "Big 5" animals and so many more just on our drive into Kruger National Park to Skukuza Camp. Our guide, Eric, was great a spotting animals while safely driving us. We are not true birders, but we saw many beautiful birds. Our guide was excited to point out some that were somewhat rare to see. We stayed in a "rondavel" or round, thatch roofed private building at camp. Clean, comfortable, a little spartan with a private bath, refrigerator, and some kitchen items. Our tour included meals cooked at the camp by our guide which were wonderful. Skukuza Camp is on the Sabie river with a bar & restaurant overlooking it. Large gift shop with snack foods, beer, and wine. Morning and evening safari rides in an open vehicle were cool, but with blankets from our room we were fine. We felt we saw more wildlife in Kruger with much less driving around a previous safari in Kenya. Safari vehicles are restricted to driving on the roads in Kruger which we preferred verses Kenya. Guides seemed to be friendly with each other offering siting information to each other. It was about 5 hours by van from Johannesburg Airport to Kruger NP entrance

Elephants paradise
Overall rating
3/5

It was the first of 8 parks we visited in Africa, and also the first Safari we've done. We didn't know what to expect, but we knew that we weren't going to find any lions or rinohs. As we were newbies we found really exciting meeting a lot of monkeys from a really short range, then we came across diferent groups of hervibors such as Impalas, Topis and some other horned ones. But the best thing of this park are by far the Elephants. We got to see a lot of diferent groups, playing in the small rivers, walking from the water to the shadows of the baobabs, they don't seem to care about the few vehicles in the roads, they were walking just beside us, it was really beatifull.

Ah, watch out with the tsetse fly, they bite quite hard.
