Alright but too touristic

3/5

Our guide did not even introduced himself when we met him. Basically I would say that he was a driver more than a guide. We didn't lean anything about the wildlife of the reserve and the communication was very poor.
the guides went out of the road to see the lions closer, which is forbidden. We didn't appreciate that at all since it was very disrespectful of the wildlife and of the animals.
The food was alright.
A bit disappointed to do the same as all the tourists in the reserve.

Everything was perfect. The weather was about 25 degrees everyday with a rain shower about 4 in the afternoon. The accommodations were better than I expected. The truck was comfortable and spacious. I can't say enough about our guide. He was a font of information and had a keen eye for the next attraction.

Spectacular tour!

Safari Soles tour company, led by Bryson, is a first rate outfitter. David Simba is a fun, knowledgeable and enthusiastic driver/guide. Put us in position to see all of the animals - including the “Big 5”, multiple times. Our chef, Dulla, made scrumptious meals without proper cooking facilities. A miracle worker. Even baked fresh bread every day. We have photos and memories to last a lifetime, or until we do it again!

About: Kenya
6 day tour of Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha
Overall rating
4/5

Considering we booked a ‘budget safari’ and were a little sceptical about how it would be; it was absolutely fantastic! The communication beforehand with Robert (the email correspondent) was great, he gave fast and thorough replies. Our guide for the 6 days was Aruni and he was amazing; so good that we were able to see all of the big 5 in two days! He was a great guy, very experienced, with a great sense of humour and his knowledge of all the animals was incredible .
The accommodation was basic but clean and fully fitted with mosquito nets; the staff in all places we stayed were very friendly and helpful.
The food, although nice, was often the same and after a while got a little boring, lots of rice, beef and spinach.
My recommendation would be to bring lots of snacks, as some days we would have breakfast at 6:00 and then lunch was not until 14:00.
Another great thing about the safari was that as we booked in advance and are a family of 5, we were able to get a private tour for no extra cost! This was really great especially as talking to other travellers through different companies, they said that often the logistics with van sharing was complicated and meant time was wasted helping people to swap vans.
Thought it was worth a mention, currently you cannot enter the gorge at Hell’s Gate, Lake Navaisha. However we thought the boat trip on the lake was amazing and a fantastic way to spend Christmas Day morning.

disappointed not to see a pride of lions during one and a half days of game drives in Kruger
Overall rating
4/5

Five stars to Cape Town. Durban and Johannesburg are disappointing. I booked our safari on this website. It was definitely a memorable life time experience. I was surprised to see that the CEO of timeline travel came to take us from the airport being our driver guide. He came driving a Toyota Avanza which was not enough to accommodate the five of us with our five bags, car seat and a pram in addition to the driver, so we were squeezed during the five hour drive from Johannesburg Airport to Hazyview and also on the way back from Hazyview to Johannesburg airport. The accommodation was good in Kruger Park Lodge in general. The 3 bedroom chalet was very nice but had only one shower and no air conditioning in the main living room although the weather was hot. Dinner in the lodge was very good. The visit to the panorama route was really beautiful through Graskop, God's Window, Bourk's Potholes and the three rondavels (Blyde River Canyon). The lunch in the Potholes was pathetic and there definitely should be something else other than the one and only ugly busy restaurant. The one and a half days of game drives was a fantastic experience for a first timer. Yet I was disappointed not to properly see the big five. We saw enough Rhinos, Buffalo and Elephants but we only saw one Leopard hanging on a tree from a distance and only one sleeping lioness turning its back on us from a distance.

To go with Cul Tours and Stephen you get an exceptionel experience and unique view of Uganda
5/5

You can choose many different Safari companies to take you round in Uganda to explore the wild life, and that will all give you good experience.
But going with Cul Tours - you get Stephen as guide and driver, and that makes a difference. He is unique: He drives safe and responsible, he is friendly and open minded, he sees the animals before anyone else - from the lions in the bush to the cameleon, crossing the road. He knows the Parcs, the animals and the secrets.
But what is even better he combines the safaries and gamedrive with the culture and rural life of Uganda. He knows people everywhere: He stops where you dont expect it and suddenly you are in middle of a local dance, he finds the source of the craft, where things are made, He finds the small markets, where turists seldom go etc.
He's culture trips you dont find by any other Safari providers.

Thank you Stephen and Cul Tours for an extraordinary trip

About: Ethiopia
Unique safari in an unique country
Overall rating
4/5

Safaris in Ethiopia are different to what to might expect: that is why you will probably end positively surprised. Parks are wilder, less crowded, more genuine. Landscapes in Ethiopia are superb, difficult to fully capture by even the best of cameras. If you add this to an exciting congregation of animals which make you feel they are freer -and happier- than other safaris you've been to, you get an authentic safari. Perhaps not as confortable, or even as safe, as others. But you will never forget this one.

About: Tanzania
we saw all big 5 and thousands of other animals and birds; could not see cheetahs due to severe rain
Overall rating
5/5

we saw all big 5 and thousands of other animals and birds, amazing landscapes; could not see cheetahs due to severe rains. overall, we had an excellent once in a life time experience. if the safari truck could be newer with more comfortable seats and quick windows opening, that would be great. the road to Serengeti is rather unpaved with lot of dust - a facial mask for dust protection is a must. the safari driver was awesome and new a lot about the animals and how to track them, as well had skills to drive in rural areas and muddy roads after the rain. the severe rains were rather unexpected for December and got us limited to see some animals or fully enjoy the parks. the roads to the luxury lodges were rather rural, it was very challenging to getting it and out, especially during and after the rain. the lodges were unbelievable, truly unique. Sopa lodge needs improvements for food and dining area, if you could avoid it until then.
