Our July 2019 Tanzania Private Safari (Migration) Trip
Overall rating
4/5

We were on a private fly-in safari tour in Tanzania and visited Tarangire National Park, Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park (Central and Northern part of the Park). We enjoyed our safari immensely, great game drives, comfortable lodge and camp accommodations and had a great time with our experienced safari driver/travel guide, Mbonea, a true professional. The of the main reasons we went in Tanzania on this time frame was to photograph the wildebeest river crossing. We were fortunate to experience and see two wildebeest river crossing episodes in Northern Serengeti’s Masai Mara River. The game drives in the National Parks we visited were fantastic, here are a short list of animals we saw roaming free and wild: elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards, cape buffaloes, zebras, gazelles, hippos, baboons, wildebeests, cheetahs, mongoose, warthogs, hayraxes, impalas, dik-diks, elands, reebucks, crocodiles, many different birds (eagles, storks, ostriches, flamingos, vultures, hornbills. ), baobab trees and many more…. The gorgeous sunny weather throughout our visit help made the trip so much fun.

Special thanks to Belen with Travel Partners for patiently answering our inquiries before the trip, she put together our itinerary and arranged the awesome safari adventure.

Hazina Africa provided a wonderful tour of Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro crater, lake Manyara, Arusha, Olduvai gorge, and Masai village. Serengeti was beyond expectation. Our guide and driver, Praise, provided exceptional service. We observed numerous wildlife though we were not there at peak season. Our guide emphasized and provided for our safety at all times. The company modified the tour for us according to the season and location of wildlife and length of tour. We appreciated the custom tour. The accommodations and food were outstanding. Our hosts were gracious and attentive and provided safety at all times.

We loved Kenya

Everything about this holiday was fantastic! We decided on Spirit of Kenya for our safari and this proved to be a very good decision. Liaison with Tiago from the start in deciding on the itinerary, accommodation etc was outstanding with emails replied to immediately and helpful suggestions and information always provided. Paying the deposit by transfer was straightforward. Transfers to and from the airport were included and Moses was a good driver - returning to the airport he even parked up and walked us to our queue to go into security. On the safari we had George as our guide and he was outstanding - extremely professional, friendly and a very safe driver. We had a van with a pop up roof and it was able to do everything that the more expensive land cruisers could do. We had a 7 day (6 nights) Safari and visited Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Mara and Lake Nakuru - all were fantastic. Accommodation and food were great throughout (we chose Comfort ‘Level 2’ from the 4 levels offered and it was perfect for us). We would not hesitate to recommend this company for a safari - we had no issues whatsoever. We stayed in Nairobi for a few days before and after the safari and we visited Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre, the Elephant Sanctuary, the Karen Blixen Museum and Karura Forest. We also had a couple of pool days at the Intercontinental, where we were staying and which was also very good, with excellent security and friendly staff. The weather was generally sunny and warm (around 22- 25 degrees during the day in the 2 weeks we were there (cooler early in the morning and late evening). Kenya is a beautiful country and we found the people we met to be so friendly.

Private tour - Nairobi to Mombasa
5/5

Booked a last minute tour for my husband and I with KET the week before Christmas 2012. Paul was brief but responsive through the booking and planning phase. Our guide Richard was fantastic. Very engaged, always smiling, and he tried very hard to find us big game. For the cost we paid, the accommodations and food were an amazing deal - much more luxurious than expected. We would book with them again in a heartbeat - and of course we would ask for Richard again!

Our first amazing taste of Africa, extraordinary

We did a private 4-days safari in the parks of Tangagire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. It was a budget safari, so we sleep in camp sites but it was all very clean and confortable. Our driver and guide was amazing, he spotted lots of lions - even a leopard - along our drives, plus all the others kind of wild animals (elephants, giraffes etc). We were able to see all the big five - even a black rhino but very far away.
Food was good, thanks to our chef Ali, and we're italians (so we care a lot when we talk about food).
4-days was a perfect starter-pack to our first safari.

Trip of a lifetime to see epic migration
Overall rating
5/5

The safari was beyond my expectations in terms of the scenery, wildlife. The migration is on a scale that is hard to describe in words. If you love watching NatGeo, you'll love it! In fact we barely used binoculars since the animals were so abundant and close. (Animals are so used to vehicles that more or less ignore them) We saw the Big Five during our trip. Only animal we did not see at the Massai Mara was the Rhino. But we saw several at Nakuru. Those two are the top destination in my opinion. Amboseli and Tsavo offer very different vistas and are also very nice. In terms of accomodations. We booked mid-level accommodations. Mid-level were luxury resorts with excellent accommodations equivalent to 4 star resorts mostly. I can't imagine it being better honestly. Regardless of your budget, the animals, the scenery are all the same. If you do want to "go big" maybe flying into Maasai Mara to avoid the bad roads might be nice. But the drive gave us a chance to see various towns and cities along the way and get a small window into everyday life in Kenya. This is definitely kid-friendly trip. (tho I would not recommend for toddlers or infants). Go for it!

Amazing experience with gorillas, chimps and the guys from ugandagorillatour.com.
4/5

That trip was good, with animals seen on the ways, budget accomodations, dairy programs and game drive jeep.
Some boring transfers somedays but very long distances to drive along.
Not so good the extra night and meals in Kampala, obviously we had to have dinner/breakfast at that time

A well planned and organized trip.
5/5

Our first trip in South-Africa was perfectly organized by Safari’s op Maat (Tailor Made Safaris). During the preparations of our trip this organization advised us not to travel great distances, but instead to stay in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. We have been really happy with their advice and although we stayed in one province, we still saw and experienced many different things during our trip.

Before we left they send us a beautiful bound book containing a day-to-day description of our journey, but it also contained great trips and fun facts. Next to this, we also received a navigation system and a mobile phone, which we really appreciated.

Sometimes we traveled with our own car through the safari parks and sometimes we went on a safari tour with a guide. We also spotted whales, went snorkeling and went with a guide to the beach during the low tide.

If you want to know more about our trip and everything we experienced, you are welcome to read the daily online blog of our trip, although it is written in Dutch. http://maartenenmarianne-zuid-afrika-2014.blogspot.nl/

Geert-Nick and Freya we want to thank you for making our first trip to Africa an amazing experience! We highly recommend you to anyone who wants to have a great experience in South-Africa.
