ONGAIPE

we are donna and larry kaplan, adventure travelers since the late 60s, who are reaping what we sowed by living very simply for many years. we now have the cash to book these pricey tours.

safaribookings.com was a great site to find. we wanted a week in etosha and nothing more. wild wind safaris was the only one doing a week in etosha so i reached out to them. david at wild wind handled our correspondence and booking and monitored our tour the entire week. you could not ask for a better person to do that for you. he was efficient, knowledgeable, professional and prompt with his responses. he tweaked wild wind's tour to provide us with our week in etosha. david delivered in everything he promised including providing a 40 gallon water tank to refill our reusable liters.

come on people. stop using single use plastic water bottles. it is immoral.

a tour organizer is crucial but the guide/driver is the main part of the tour. a great guide means a tour could be great. a so-so guide can really dim the luster. i hope namibians continue to pursue the guiding profession. i hope tour organizers compensate them well.

our guide was abel kuyonisa and we could not have asked for more. all the adjectives i used for david apply to abel. he was efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. abel was always early and always courteous to all we encountered. abel truly cares about his clients. he is personable and a good story teller. we highly recommend abel to guide you anywhere in namibia and beyond.

sincerely,

larry kaplan

Eastern Sun - A fantastic team to summit Uhuru Peak with
5/5

I still can't believe I made it to Uhuru Peak, but two mates and I did the trek with the best bunch of guides and porters on the Mountain. Mercy and Simon couldn't be more helpful with our booking, payment and provision of information, amid our changing requirements. Two expert guides, a cook and several porters spoiled us with their friendly and service-focused attention from pick-up to drop-off in Arusha. Our memories of fatigue and cold air have faded while the social times with this fantastic team remain vivid recollections. The tents and equipment, food, briefings and safety were second to none. I want to go again with the guys from Eastern Sun Tours & Safaris.

Being immersed in Nature: a surreal experience defying expectations
Overall rating
3/5

Stunning scenery, access to all wild nature and an enthusiastic knowledgeable driver / guide made the whole experience unforgettable.
Highlights such as “fights” between teenage elephants, lionesses surveying migrating zebras and crocs submerged in the water lurking for their moment to strike were vintage as was the hospitality offered while glamp-ing in the wild.
Masai villages, probably unchanged in the last 20,000 years were a point of serious reflection as the realisation that Serengeti was once part of the Lake Victoria before it dried up.

About: Botswana
Botswana provided an authentic safari experience.
Overall rating
5/5

Botswana was a wonderful experience both for Safari and visiting the country. We had 2 nights in the Okavango delta, comfort camping. It was exceptional for wildlife, scenery, accommodations, food, transportation and our guide. We really enjoyed the bush walks. The next part of our trip involved travelling into Moremi and Savute parks. All was good until our guide destroyed two vehicles. The vehicles were old to begin with but he got one stuck in the mud. There was no radio, no shovel and no tow rope. We got saved by another guide but the vehicle didn’t work well after that. A second vehicle was brought in and it had issues but would have been ok if our guide hadn’t run out of petrol. After that it lost power and backfired regularly, never exceeding 20 km/hr. Everything went off the rails after that. My advise is make sure your tour operator has decent vehicles. We still loved Botswana and would go back. Compared to Kruger, Kruger seemed like a amusement park with too many self drives and too many people without respect for animals.

Variety of locations visited which afforded opportunities for numerous game drives & animal viewing.
5/5

Driver/guide was an integeral part of the success and enjoyment of the total safari experience. Our guide's knowledge of the parks, animals and expertise in navigating on highways as well as off-road was outstanding. We were well informed about each day's itinerary and any modifications/changes necessary to accommodate the tour group and safari schedule. Lodges/Hotels, food and service more than met our expectations. Rooms were spacious and staff always there to please. I highly recommend Sameco Tours.

Nicky was our tour guide. I can not praise her enough. She worked tirelessly to ensure our safari was memorable. Nicky was brimming with knowledge and enthusiasm. We were so glad we chose Wild Wings Safari.

A very well organized and enjoyable introduction to Kenya
5/5

My wife and I, along with 2 other couples traveled with Joseph Mwangi and his driver, John for 15 days in October.
Every part of the trip was well organized and enjoyable. Joseph is a very knowledgeable birder and he took us to the right places to see as much as possible. We all had fun and identified over 400 species of birds, not to mention the mammals The trip more than satisfied all levels of birders and naturalists in our group. These 2 men made every part of the trip exceptional. The vehicle, the accommodations and the route that Joseph planned were all great.
We would recommend Nature's Wonderland to any serious birder or naturalist.

Namibia - unexplored widely, with its untouched beauty is certainly a offriders paradise. Photography and wild life are the prime attractions . Opting a self catered tour would be more beneficial but we cannot miss on the local delicacies.People are tourist friendly . Language no problem. A must visit place for every traveller. Opt for camping and have more fun.
