Last minute safari
5/5

We suddenly decided to go on a safari. Received the contact details of tailormadesafari via a colleague and sent them a mail. Received answer right away asking what and how we wanted things planned. We received an offer for a self-drive safari combined with severall guided game drives and it fit perfectly with our whishes. Because it was last minute, phone and gps were delivered personally by Geerts father on the day before our plane left. Disregarding their advice with respect to getting a hotel at Johannesburg in between flights to Durban (we should have listened but will be a lesson for the next time) arrived in Kwazulu Natal. Trip was everything we wished for. Wonderful B&B very good choice of guided game drives and an exceptional place for the last 3 days of our safari where we got pampered (great food and drinks included) and were driven around twice a day to spot the animals on big 5 territory. Can only recommend tailormadesafari to anyone planning or just decide doing a safari in South Africa as their knowledge of the area offered something extra's. Great job and thanks for a onforgettable holiday.

Unique

Definitely Namibia was different from everything that I’ve seen in my life. Sossusvlei it’s where I took the best pictures, and it was effortlessly. I just grabbed my phone, pointed to a landscape and then I had an awesome pic that impressed everybody back home!
I went in January during summer but the weather was not a issue. Just make sure to have a pool in your accommodation place and it’ll be perfect.

This is the best safari ever!!

This was a perfect safari in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Serengeti and Ngonrongo. Our guide, Moses, was the most knowledgeable, gentle, wonderful safari guide one can wish for. We saw all big five multiple times, at very close distance and enjoy the safari immensely. Thanks a million, Moses, for making possible such an unforgettable experience!!

About: Kenya
Great experience with kids visiting Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru
Overall rating
5/5

Masai Mara is glorious. The Eco Camp chosen by Pride of Kenya Safari is really nice as was the visit to Masai Village which is authentic in its own way. The Masai are very aware of the interest in their culture and so they have arranged a very nice visit. I was happy that our fees to visit the village will contribute in whatever way.

Lake Nakuru is not what is used to be in terms of the flamingos, which are now mostly gone. I don't think I would visit again. But Masai Mara is a truly wonderful place

About: Kenya
Unforgettable experience with Alliance Destinations
Overall rating
5/5

We chose Alliance Destinations because James was who first answered us, very willing to accommodate the trip to our needs: specifically, to begin in Nairobi and end it in Mombasa (rather than return to Nairobi) and quickly search an international flight that would allow us to get to Nairobi and back from Mombasa. In turn, that would allow to travel along the coast on our own, that was the intention.

James was always attentive, quickly answering our e-mails. We were able to book without any inconvenience.

He and our guide and driver in the safari which was to begin in just two days, Gerard, were waiting for us at the airport in Nairobi. They took us to our hotel and there we close not only the balance of our safari but we decided to contract with them a day at Nairobi National Park, visit to the orphanage for elephants and Giraffes Center. It was an unforgettable day, already with Gerard, and we highly recommend this tour.

And what about Safari in itself? Everything was perfect and far beyond our expectations. We stayed 2 nights in Masai Mara, 1 night at Lake Nakuru and 2 nights in Amboseli. Masai Mara camp is spectacular (Ashnil Camp); other accommodation, not so much, but very well, particularly comfortable, clean and with very good food.

Masai Mara is not to be missed. Gerard was always willing, our tastes and interests. He seems to maintain the enthusiasm of a first day. Loves his country and his work, knows a lot of animals and the places you visit. It is a very careful driver (in fact, he was excellent in two dangerous situations created by other truck drivers).

I don’t think we can remember the number of animals we saw: Lions, Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes (many!), wildebeests, gazelles of various types, topis, zebras and elephants (thousands of elephants in Amboseli), buffaloes, ostriches, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, birds of all kinds... Gerard was always attentive and did everything supremely well.

Don’t miss the balloon flight... a unique experience that is well worth the big bucks it costs. Excellent Casey, the pilot of a Hot Air Safaris.

The parks are long and strenuous, but very instructive. If you want to learn about Africa and its people there is no best way to go observing their villages, their inhabitants, their routes, the places where they live and how they live... Spectacular.

Lake Nakuru is slightly decadent since flood deprived of its most important attraction, the flamingos. However, it was there where we saw more and better zebras and where we could get off, well guarded by rangers, and closer to zebras and flamingos themselves remaining in the Lake. Beautiful.

Amboseli is the paradise for elephants’ lovers. There are thousands (literally). It is not to be missed. Here James joined us to the safari, with good reviews and his good company.

In the end, two surprises bonus track: a visit to a masai community, touching and unforgettable, and another to the elephant with largest tusks...

We have no words to thank the efficiency, work and love Gerard and James. We strongly recommend Alliance Destinations.

CrissCross and Thinus are the best!!
5/5

When we began this holiday, we expected beautiful scenery and magnificent wildlife, but our three week travel with CrissCross (and Thinus, our guide and the owner of CrissCross) turned out to be much more than this - it was a real adventure. Our itinerary was perfectly planned and our accomodations were great, especially the lodges in Damaraland. What he had planned was way more than we could have ever expected. Throughout the journey Thinus continued to fascinate with his large culturel, historical and political knowledge of Namibia. We fondly remember all the personal anecdotes and hilarious stories told during the evenings while eating lovely meals (preferingly different kind of game) and drinking great wine. We especially enjoyed Damaraland and the great sand dunes in Sossusvlei! Thinus and the people we met on this trip was so accommodating and outgoing, and the experiences during the three weeks from Windhoek all the way through Etosha National Park to Victoria Falls were countless, and it all went incredibly fast. We strongly recommend CrissCross, and all hope to be back one day.

About: Swaziland
A really exotic experience in a country that deserves more recognition.
Overall rating
4/5

I was really pleased by my discover of the Swaziland. I love to walk across the Mlilwane wildlife sanctuary. It was a really implying day, during this visit i could see beautiful landscapes and admire wild animals living in half-liberty. It was so beautiful that i forgot the sense of the time.

We also visit some factories (candles, glassware,....) where you could buy nice creations. Original and satisfying for most of european travelers.

People in Swaziland are welcoming us very well and i recommend you to try to speak with them. They could learn you a lot about their country and their culture.

Amazing safari to the Crater, Serengeti and Gombe for a family of four
5/5

An incredibly well organised safari including all hotels, flights, taxis and safari jeep, driver and Gombe guide and boat transfer. The trip was tailored to meet our budget and to fit in with our other holiday plans - the hotels and campsites all exceeded our expectations. Evelyn was wonderful, very attentive, with prompt responses to emails before we left, and keeping in touch by phone while on safari to make sure all as planned. The Crater/Serengeti driver was fantastic - driving all hours for us to see the big 5 and pointing out other equally amazing if not so sought after birds and animals - we were lucky enough to see a honey badger. The food was incredible (not easy with all my son's allergies which were well catered for), even had a personal chef at Gombe! Finished off with an excellent guide at Gombe - chimp trekking was unbelievable experience. A holiday we won't forget! Asante Sana!

Firstly, Moonstroll is a booking agency, it subcontracts the actual safari operators. We had a wild week with our experienced guide and his friendly and efficient crew, saw a massive amount of animals up close. Maybe a bit too close: on included Chobe boat tour the boat operator said many tourists want to see animals react, eg. do mock attacks. In my opinion you're already too close if that happens - especially on purpose. But yeah we saw lots! A couple of incidents we could have done without and also we did not have satellite or vhf communications backup which caused needless anxiety but other than that a fun and definitely memorable trip. Food and camp equipment were good. Suggest discussing matters thoroughly beforehand so you know who and what you will be going into the bush with. Weather was great but very hot.
